I'm really surprised he never ported The Witness to Switch. That's an amazing game and could have sold well if it had come to Switch a few years ago.

As others have mentioned, it's the unbelievable sluggishness that keeps me from using the eshop. When I want to browse, I use Dekudeals.

Guys, I have to be honest. I’m so focused on getting through my backlog that I haven’t played a single 2024 game yet.

Best games I’ve played in 2024: Inscryption, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Pikmin 1 & 2.

@Lizuka Agreed. I don’t understand why everyone says this looks good. Octopath 1 and 2 were a perfect marriage of 2D and 3D, but this is not. The 3D assets are so generic.

@Krull Yes, it's one of my favourite games ever, and if they treat it right, I'd be happy to play it on Switch. But I agree, the upscaling they did on Tactics Ogre looks terrible.

The iOS/Android port of FFT WotL actually looks great. The backgrounds are rendered at a high resolution but they haven't messed with the original assets. I wish they would just port over that version, but I doubt they will.

If ever there was a classic games that DOESN’T need a remake/remaster, it’s Chrono Trigger. It’s already a perfect game, and has aged brilliantly.

Looks like there might not be any farming. Very disappointing.

I think people exaggerate how important it is to play all the games. I’m playing through the five games available on Switch and using YouTube summaries to fill in the gaps.

Can anyone comment on how it runs on Switch? I’ve heard it’s buggy and laggy.

Personally, I’m in no hurry. My Switch backlog is still massive. I need more time before I’m willing to invest in new hardware.

I replayed Pikmin 1 & 2 recently for the first time in many years and the game they reminded me of more than anything was Dark Souls - the sense of mystery and wonder, combined with the feeling that something dangerous and horrible is around every corner. And some of your Pikmin will definitely die. Pikmin is a horror game.

@KateGray I’ve heard that Super Mario Party isn’t as good as Superstars, but I’ve only played Superstars. Do you have a preference between the two?

@nintendozach I strongly disagree. Older consoles should be supported for as long as possible. I play both 3DS and Switch. They’re both great consoles with different libraries, and there’s room for both.

@saiyantrunks79 FFT: WOTL is one of my favourite games ever. The iOS port is great - all they need to do is put that on Switch. No “remastering” necessary.

My favourite work sim is Snowrunner. I never thought I could spend hundreds of hours delivering cargo, but turns out it’s an absolute blast.

I voted for “More heart.” The first film really didn’t make me feel anything. I was actually surprised by that. I think it’s because the characters were poorly written and barely developed at all.

I've played Snowrunner on both Switch and PS4, and I have mixed feelings about the Switch port. On the one hand, it's great to have that amazing game in a handheld format, and the game looks pretty good overall. On the other hand, it feels like a lesser experience compared to the PS4 version. The loss of detail makes assessing road conditions a little more difficult, but also, there's less of a feeling of "immersion," which takes away from the joy of driving across these environments. Overall, it's certainly playable on Switch, but it's much better on PS4 (and probably Steam Deck). Looking forward to playing Expeditions, but not on Switch.

I just sunk a lot of hours into Inscryption. Definitely add that one to the list of addictive card games.

My top 2 would be a compilation of Dragon Quest 4-6, and a compilation of the DS Castlevanias.

@Zach777 Unlikely. This seems like a Persona 5 Royal situation. They want people to buy the new version of the game.

That said, I would absolutely love Wind Waker HD. I've never owned a console that I could play it on!

I absolutely loved Eastward. There was a bit too much dialogue, but it was well-written, and every other aspect of the game was amazing. Looking forward to playing Octopia.

I can’t believe The Witness never came out on Switch. One of my fav puzzle games ever.

A perfect game doesn’t need a remake.

I sell my unwanted games locally on Facebook Marketplace. I get way more for them than if I took them to a store. In fact, I can often buy and sell used games for the same price that way. So if I buy a used game and then re-sell it, the net cost is $0.

Dark Souls. Playing it for the first time was the most memorable and exciting gaming experience of my life.

@john_lennon999 Yeah, the industry standard now seems to be to release games in an untested, unfinished state, and deal with the bugs later. It's a terrible trend. I would love to see a dev commit to release its games in a complete, fully tested state, like in the old days, before online updates.

I enjoyed it, though there was a lot of dialogue and not much gameplay. I’m interested in the full game and plan to wait for reviews.

Like some people here, I wasn't able to get very far. I think it's a brilliant game, but it really requires a level of focus that I wasn't able to give it. It is seriously challenging. I think of it as a puzzle game, where the entire game world is one giant puzzle.

Never thought I'd see the day when fan service would come to Stardew Valley. Sad.

I agree with Gabe 100%. What other industry thinks it’s OK to ship technically flawed, incomplete products to consumers? Delays are better than broken products.

Amazing game, but I’m very concerned about the Switch port. It looks from the video like it’s running at a very low resolution. Even the PS4 version has major frame rate dips. I recommend everyone play this, but maybe not on Switch.

I'm a huge Zelda fan, but my interest level is next to nothing. I have zero trust in this team to deliver something good, and actually, we don't need a Zelda movie.

@chardir Non-linear means it moves on an axis, like the Playstation L2 and R2 triggers, rather than moving straight up and down (linear) like a standard button. Digital means it only registers "on" and "off" positions, with nothing in between (like all switch L2/R2 buttons).

First off, this trend is disastrous for game preservation in the long term. These carts essentially have an expiration date.

But contrary to what some posters have said, there is still an advantage to physical. You can sell or lend your cart to someone else. That’s not true with digital, which is always locked to a single user.

Can’t wait to have my experience enhanced!

Gavin, I appreciate your opinion and won’t accuse you of clickbaiting, but your own arguments in favour of BC far, far outweigh your arguments against.

Switch 2 doesn’t “need” BC in order to succeed financially, but from a consumer perspective, it does need it in order to be a great console.

One of my favourite games of the last few years. I’ll admit that some of the dialogue sections were a little long, but for me, this was the only issue with an otherwise brilliant game. It’s a 9/10 from me.

@PharoneTheGnome Same. I've been gaming since the early 80s and I've put more time into Stardew than any other game I've ever played. It's a masterpiece. I can't wait for Barone's next game.

Too bad about the NPCs. Even many of the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games have this same problem.

The best farming sims for NPC interactions that I've played are Rune Factory 3 & 4, Stardew Valley, and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns.

I did the 8bitdo mod for the NES Classic (mini) controller, and it’s great. It works for Switch or PC/Mac.

I played the original Rune Factory 3 on DS and it’s highly recommended if you like farming sims.

On that note, Fae Farm looks interesting but I‘ll have to wait for reviews.

I agree with a lot of the posters here.

1. Delays are better than half-finished games.

2. Publishers should not announce games so early. It just puts pressure on the dev team to rush a game to completion. This is why we have crunch.

I doubt this one will be cancelled. There’s a lot of interest in this one, and remasters don’t cost as much to develop as new games. It seems like a good financial bet for Konami.

I just played it again for the first time in about 20 years, and I think it’s a masterpiece. At first I found the combat clunky, but once I got used to it I realized that it’s a sort of hybrid of real-time and turn-based that requires precise timing. I absolutely loved playing it again and am really looking forward to playing SD3 for the first time.

@BreathingMiit Have you played it? Because it's certainly not trash, it's actually a great puzzle game. They didn't do any harm to the M&M name.
