@Bronson That sucks... When I was in college my landlord stole all of my SNES games ( about 50 ) and my collection of Gameboy, Wii, and DS games about 9 years ago... Maybe 90 games in total. Many of those SNES games were bought for me by my grandma when I was a child, some of them are very rare and expensive tpday. I still haven't replaced them... I doubt I ever will.
I'm okay with it as it is, honestly. I just hope we end up getting SNES AND N64 content in the future. It would be nice tp havr other classic Nintendo titles on the go too.
Not sure why anyone would expect, want, or need more than this. We got Fire Emblem, Mario Party, Starlink, Dragonball FighterZ, POKEMON, and SUPER SMASH BROS. to carry the system through 2018. All of these games look amazing.
With Pokemon and Smash coming before Christmas... I wouldn't be surprised if the console starts selling out this holiday season.
@thesilverbrick Ummm... I've never seen that image before in my life, lol. I guess I should have said this is closer to his original "appearance" and size in Metroid 1 and 3.
I get that he is smaller than you'd expect, but I mean... Look at Bowser. His size changes in every game. Olimar is supposed to be smaller than a battery and yet he's playable too.
@thesilverbrick Ridley looks perfect. In Super Metroid he was maybe 2 or 3 times Samus' size, and not much taller than her. Making Ridley just a bit bigger than Bowser is more accurate to the original character design.
X1 is the best by far, but I still love the first four X games. I used to own all but X8, but these days I only own X1 - X3, so I'll be buying this as soon as it releases. Looking forward to having them all on the Switch, and the new content is definitely welcome.
I need this in my life. I still own my original N64, games, and controllers, but I don't own or have room for an older TV to display the games properly, so i'd jump at the chance to get the N64 Mini... and if it's hackable... well... Nintendo isn't providing me with a way to rebuy my N64 collection on the Switch so...
Highly doubt it, but I wouldn't complain. Although if Konami os playing ball, I'd MUCH rather see Bomberman join in, and bring Snake back!
As for Ridley joining Smash, I feel like people forget that Ridley has only been MASSIVE in the 3D Metroid games. Yeah, he's been represented in Smash that way as well, but in Metroid 1 he was only slightly bigger than Samus, and in Super Metroid and Fusion he was maybe 3 or 4 times the size of Samus... So making Ridley only slightly bigger than Bowser as a Smash fighter would work. Although I will say I would prefer they just use Ridley as a boss character again.
@ShadJV It's really not as short as people keep saying. My wife and I took close to 10 hours to beat the main campaign, getting all the collectables, messing around with power combinations and dream friends etc.
The post game content also adds quite a bit to this. Even of you only do the bare minimum of the post game stuff it should still add another couple hours of play. If you do it all... Maybe 20 extra hours to complete everything?
Even just considering the main story mode though my wife and I were totally satisfied with our purchase.
@YummyHappyPills @URAmk2 Negative opinions are fine, but you're on Nintendolife. Everyone here is a fan of Nintendo. Constantly shouting negative opinions here would be like going to a football game and constantly shouting that the home team sucks... Of course you're gonna get some dirty looks...
...It's like going to the bingo hall and telling all the seniors you hate Bingo... and seniors.
Or going to the ocean and telling Nemo that you hope his dad never finds him.
The SNES Classic is the best game console I've ever purchased. Of course I'll be grabbing an NES Classic too. Now just make and N64 Classic and my gaming life will be complete.
I can't believe anyone is conplaining about this... At $20 a year the cost is only $1.67 per month. If you get the family deal and split it between 8 people, the cost per month is $0.37 per month. You're getting 20 NES games with brand new online functionality, with the promise of more to come, but people are still complaining. Absolutely ridiculous.
The classic games are worth it alone to me. Sure they're games I've already owned a few times before, but this time they are both portable and console versions in one, and I'll be able to play online with my friends and family across the country. I just hope they also give us SNES, N64, and Gamecube games with the service and add online to those as well.
@LUIGITORNADO I agree with this to an extent. The problem with games is that each one is a unique experience. Other products you can shop around for something that does the exact same thing at a better price. There is only one DKC:Tropical Freeze. ( Well okay... two. )
In my opinion, price should only ever affect a games rating by maybe 1 or 2 points out of 10, maximum, if at all. Especially because a game score is going to remain the same, even if the price drops.
Should Nintendo have priced this game lower? Absolutely! $50 would have been fair and $40 would have been ideal. The review score and pricing, though... Those two things need separation in order to judge a game fairly.
@EasyDaRon I felt like your description of the controls were spot on for DKC: Returns. Still a great description of Tropical Freeze as well, though it seems to be a bit tighter. Especially when using a partner Kong and button controls.
@SwitchVogel That is true. I had to delete the game for space, so I immediately checked to see if I could redownload after reading the article, and yes, you can still redowload the game.
@sillygostly I was planning on buying stock shortly after the Wii U came out and it started to go down... Then I had a kid... and another... and another, and now I have no expendable income. lol.
I know this doesn't exactly relate, but I'm hoping they allow us to transfer our digital vurtual console purchases from the 3DS and Wii U over to the Switch. Having that, and access to other classic games with the Switch Online service would be nice. Also, by classic games I hope they don't just mean NES. I'd lobe to see SNES, N64, and Gamecube games on the Switch.
I've only seen the SNES Classic once. I bought it, and I've played it more than any other console since then. I'm on the hunt for an Nes Classic now. Nintendo DID say they were restocking those this year, didn't they?
Only about 3 million to go to pass the Gamecube, and if they can achieve about 15 million, the Switch will surpass the N64. Looks pretty likely at this point, considering Smash 5 is coming and it's starting to look like Pokemon might be a 2018 game.
@LastLife I completely forgot about the Pokemon Stadium "shinies"
I agree that hacking has ruined the value of shinies. They might as well lower the shiny rate to a reasonable number at this point so that the non-hackers can at least have fun collecting them. A 1/100 chance with the shiny charm seems pretty fair to me, especially if there are alternate shiny colorations.
Bring back all the different chain methods from the Gen 6 games. Dex Nav chaining and Chain Fishing in particular.
Double the shiny rate one more time. Shinies don't need to be as rare ad they are. A 1/500 chance would be fine.
Alt. shinies. Maybe 3 or 4 per Pokemon.
Shiny Cave. Maybe during the post game there can be a large, multi-level cave with tons of different high level Pokemon. ( 60 - 70 ) The shiny rate in this cave could be higher than anywhere else in the game, making it a great place to train and catch shiny Pokemon. Maybe make it a 1/100 chance or something.
Ultra shines sound lile a cool idea. Especially if they lower the standard shiby rate. Ultra shinies could be set at the current rate so everyone is happy.
@justin233 Too many, lol. I try to add any game that gets a 7 or higher rating onto my Switch wishlist for later. At this rate I will never be able to afford even half of them.
@MH4 Weird Mario would have an entirely unique moveset based on the strangest items in Super Mario Maker. His final Smash could summon three giant 8-bit Bowsers, lol.
Wow... Looks like the Switch will easily overtake the Gamecube's lifetime sales within this year. I wonder if it can overtake the N64's lifetime sales by March 2019...
I just have him wear his normal clothes with the Sunshine Shades now. It was fun dressing him up during the initial playthrough though.
Just working on getting to rank 50 in Balloon World. Rank 46 so far, but it has become a grind since rank 44, where easy rank ups kind of just stopped. I've even purchased 99 Moons in every Kingdom at this point. lol
@K1LLERBEAN I actually just figured that out shortly after my original post. You can even filter games by genre which is something a lot of people here are recommending too.
I had a problem with it at first, but now I'm in love with the the simplicity of it. I just check the eShop every week or two and add any good looking games to my wishlist so they're easy to find later. Easy. The only improvement I can think of would be maybe to expand the best sellers list from 15 to 30 or 50 so that more good games can be seen there.
Also better sales will do wonders for discoverability.
The cost of these things is just one of many reasons why $60 retail games are always going to be physical purchases for me. At least until I don't have a choice in the matter.

Re: Meet Blast Man, One Of The Explosive New Bosses Coming To Mega Man 11
@SteveF Between the collections and 11 that's 5 separate titles including 19 games within them. Not too bad.

The prologue demo is extremely generous. Probably around 16 hours of gameplay in the demo alone.
Re: Feature: The 15 Best Nintendo Switch Games at E3 2018
@RichardZ I guess I made the mistake of trusting the Nintendolife article, since it states 2018...
Also Pokemon is a main series game. Same battle system, complete with EV training and everything. Plus we already have gen 8 confirmed for next year.
I would have loved to see Metroid Prime 4 amd at least 1 more surprise, but as it is there's nearly a must have title every month this year.
