Re: Soapbox: My Nintendo's Updated Rewards Scheme Is Anything But Rewarding

Deege

There is ONE THING that this system improved upon... You get gold coins MUCH faster than you used to... and the gold coin prices for Wii U and 3DS discounts has not increased... So you could buy a $20 eshop Switch game, get 100 Gold coins, and use them to get loads of discounts on 3DS and Wii U games.

This is probably an oversight on Nintendo's part. I doubt it will be this way come next month.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey's Latest Update Has Subtly Changed The Game's 100% Ending

Deege

After the Luigi DLC, my moon count jumped up from like 882 to 999 in a couple hours. Balloon World is an insane way to grab coins. I only wish they added a digit to the coin counter, so I wouldn't be maxing it out at 9,999 coins every 30 minutes.

I'm rank 41 in Balloon World and all I'm missing are 3 Find It Star Ranks, and the rest are in the Hide it Mode, which is just a waiting game... over 500 people searched for my balloons in the first two days, but now I'm lucky if I get 5 people to searvh for my balloons on any given day...

Re: Awesome: Meet The Ultimate Nintendo Switch Game Collector

Deege

No idea how people can afford to buy more then 1 game per month. I've had my Switch for maybe 8 months now and I only have 2 games physically and 2 digital. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, and Snipperclips. I have more demos than anything, lol

I'll definitely be getting Kirby this month though, oh and I do own Breath of the Wild, but on the Wii U.

Re: Pokémon GO's Latest Event Is On Right Now, And There's A Brand New Shiny Pokémon

@Baker1000 I was wrong, what they did was they made it easier to take gyms out, but they made it incredibly hard to build them up beyond like level 2 or 3. So before the change I could take a Gym, get it to level 4 myself, and be pretty confident that other trainers would fill it in and build it up to level 10 by the end of the day, making the gym stable. The change made it to where I could take a gym, and build it to level 2, but a rival trainer could take the gym down in less than 5 minutes.

I live in Cincinatti OH. Btw. The competition was fierce over here.

Edit: Also keep in mind everythi g I just said was related to changes that were made about a year ago. Things could be vastly different now.

Re: Rumour: Spyro Trilogy Coming To Multiple Formats Next Year After PS4 Exclusivity Ends

Deege

@Minfinity Oh yeah, Spyro definitely was on a grander scale when you consider the world the game was built in. I personally liked Spyro 2, and I'd happily buy a trilogy collection. I just feel like for people who didn't grow up with the series the games would probably come off as just, "okay" instead of "great" the way we remember.

As for Crash, I feel like those games would still be fun even if you didn't grow up with them, but I could be wrong.

Re: YouTubers Bring The Pain In The Wacky World Of Subscribe & Punch!

Deege

This could be either really good or really bad. If they add some popular gaming channel youtubers it could definitely be good for a laugh or two. I'd probably buy it if they got Matpat in. Get Peanut Butter Gamer, EgoRaptor, Brental Floss, Angry Video Game Nerd, and Nostalgia Critic in there and I'd but 100% on board.

Re: Flipping Death Will Take Physical Form On Retail Shelves In Time For Its Spring Release

Deege

I love physical media for games but after having kids... Unless a game is huge, or from a series I'm a big fan of, or over $30, I'm going digital. Kids destroy physical media. Disks crack, game boxes are ripped and chewed on, and Switch cartridges... eaten...

More and more I'm leaning towards digital since it's easy to access on your device, it can't be lost, and it supports the developers more than buying physical.

I'm definitely getting digital versions of the Megaman and Street Fighter collections later this year.

Re: Rejoice, Soon You'll Be Able To Use Your My Nintendo Gold Points On The Switch eShop

Deege

Man... Remember back in the day when you spent $600 in a calendar year, you attained Platinum Status, which netted you a free mail order item that could be valued at over $20, AND you also had enough points to get about 6 downloadable Nintendo games at no additional cost, valued at around $40 - $50? About 10% back on what you purchased? ( Actually more than 10% back because you got EXTRA points for surveys and preregistering purchases. You could get up tp 60 points for a $40 game! Plus a lot of times you got huge points bonuses for console purchases )

Now if you spend $600 in a year, Nintendo will give you a $6 discount on one downloadable title. Which is now only 1% back on your purchases. This is more than 10x worse than what we had before.

Also remember when people used to complain about how much they hated Club Nintendo and those surveys? Man... I guess we shouldn't have complained.

Re: Famitsu Interview Hints That Masahiro Sakurai Could Step Back From Directing Games

Deege

Smash 4 Switch would give us what we want and would give Sakurai a nice break for this console generation. Honestly if we don't get a port we probably won't get anything for another 3 years.

If they do a Smash 4 Deluxe and decide to add a few new characters, I'd love to see the Inklings, Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong. I'd also love to see Solid Snake return, and IF they can add another third party character PLEASE let it be Bomberman. ( OR GENO! PLEASE LET IT BE GENO!! )

Re: Video: Super Mario Odyssey Producer Finally Addresses Mario’s Nipples

Deege

@ShadJV I guess I don't have any concrete proof to reference for that claim. I always thought it was known to be a different universe, but I could be wrong. Mario and Luigi both have a different look amd feel to them in the M&L series, and Peach's castle looks totally different than it usually does, but I guess that's all I've got for evidence at the moment... hm.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

Deege

Not sure why anyone would ever need more than a 64 GB card. Until the Switch eshop goes down like 10 years from now you can just delete one game to make room for another if you're running out of space.

At some of these higher prices I could just buy a second Switch.

Re: Soapbox: The Super Mario Movie Might Not Be All That Great

Deege

Since when did everyone hate Despicable Me? The first one was pretty good, and the second one was... okay... Haven't seen the third.

Also what's wrong with Secret Life of Pets? I haven't sat down and watched the whole thing, but my niece loves it, and whenever I catch parts of it, it seems pretty funny.

Re: Video: The 26 Best Game Boy Advance Games of All Time

Deege

Totally agree with the top choices here. Metroid Fusion amd Zero Mission totally took over my GBA for the majority of the time I owned amd played it. I still have both of those games to this day, and they are two of the very few GBA games I've bought on the Wii U VC.

My runner ups would be Mario and Luigi, Wario Ware, Pokemon Fire Red, amd of course Link to the Past + Four Swords.

Re: Reminder: Time To Purchase Wii Shop Points Is Running Out

Deege

Megaman 9 and 10 are must haves, although thise will be in the Switch soon anyway. Lostwinds 1 and 2 are great. Strong Bad is great, if you can only pick one of the 5 I'd definitely say go for Episode 4 on that. I know a lot of people dislike Pokemon Rumble, but I had a great time playing that game with friends. It's just a mindlessly fun beat 'em up. There are a few others, but I feel like those were my favorites.

Re: Video: Check Out This Awesome 340-Hour Time-Lapse Drawing Of All 800+ Pokémon

Deege

@GoldenGamer88 @daveh30 It depends on what his prefered method is. He could have drawn this on paper, and scanned it in as his reference, or he could have drawn it digitally. Think of what he's tracing as the first draft.

I watched the first 15 minutes, to where he was starting to outline the gen 3 Pokemon. This is amazing and I plan to watch more when I have the time. I've always wanted to do something similar to this, but this guy's quality is insanely good.

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Deege

Gen 7 is where the game started falling apart for me. I thought X and Y and especially ORAS were brilliant and I hoped they would just expand on what they had there. I didn't think the cutscenes were overbearing there amd I also really liked the Mega Evolution concept and wanted more out of that. I also was releived that Gen 6 introduced only 3 new Legendaries and 3 mythical Pokemon. I hate when there are about a dozen new legendaries out of 100 nee Pokemon.

Then Gen 7 came along and added so many new features, that the game felt like it lost it's direction. SOS battles are neat on paper, but in practice they can be enfuriatingly long affairs where you struggle to knock the Pokemon out before a new one shows up. And they got rid of horde battles, an actually good mechanic, to make way for SOS battles. The online system was completely overhauled and in most players opinions, broken to the point where no one uses it. They did a 180 on Mega evolution and instead introduced Alolan forms and Ultra Beasts. Alolan forms are interesting at first but incredibly limited, and Ultra Beasts are just... a bad idea in my opinion. Plus when you count Ultra Beasts, there are over 20 legendary Pokemon in Gen 7. A ridiculous amount. The worst part is that almost all of them are VGC legal meaning the competitive playing field runs rampant with the overpowered things...

I could go on, but this rant is already dragging on. I just hope they figure out which direction they want to take this series and stick with it. Maybe go back to Gen 4's roots. I feel like that was the last truly traditional feeling Pokemon game.

Re: Feature: What We Want From Nintendo In 2018

Deege

@msvt I'm still discovering and playing amazing NES and SNES games that I've overlooked for decades. Personally I also wish console cycles would slow down too, but then again if they did we wouldn't have the awesome stuff we have today. It's absolutely true that I could probably never buy another console ever again and still find fun games on older consoles to play for the rest of my life, but then I'd miss out on some true masterpieces like Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. It's a balancing act for sure and you'll never have time to play everything, but luckily we have review sites like these to let us know what's worth our limited amount of time.
