Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Deege

Speaking of Resident Evil, the new Switch 2 update breaks progression in the game, making it unplayable on Switch 2. Basically camera will crash and start vibrating in place, with no way to unlock it. You xan still hear what's going on, but you won't see what's happening, because the frames don't advance to the next action. This happens at many points in the game, so no matter where you are in the story, it will eventually stop you from progressing.

Re: Talking Point: Smashing Switch 2 Numbers Prove Nintendo's Strategy Is Super Effective

@bosh 2 out of 3 of my brothers have one, and up until Switch, they didn't really buy Nintendo consoles, so that surprised me at least. We're still in the stage where it'll mostly be owned my Nintendo fans. Give it another year or so. Especially if they come out with a Lite version in 2 years. Then a lot of parents will be buying them for their kids as holiday and Birthday gifts.

I actually purchased this game for the sole purpose of trying something new. I had no idea what it was or what what I was promising to put multiple hours into, but it ended up being a game I would never forget playing.

Re: Pokémon GO's Pokédex Is Now Bigger Than Any Mainline Entry

Deege

I always thought they could have included every Pokemon in Gen 8 if they wanted too, amd it wouldn't have been too bad balance-wise with the dynamax gimmick... but after Gen 9's ridiculously overpowered Pokemon I'm actually hoping that Gen 10 cuts out every single Paradox Pokemon, Goldengho, the big catfish thing, Garganacle... they're just ridiculous and unfun to play against in most situations.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'

@Wexter Yeah, I agree 100%

As someone who has had their entire video game collection stolen twice and a smaller selection of games stolen on a third occasion... not to mention games lost or damaged by siblings in the past... I'm kind of okay with a temporary digital ownership, as bad as that may sound to some. Especially for the Switch where all you get is essentially a mini SD with the game loaded onto it, and no manual in the box.

@UltraZelda64 Let's say you buy the AC and Mario Kart DLC separately... What happens if in 5 years the eShop is gone, you can't redownload your games, and your SD Card corrupts? You lose the content all the same.

Same if you own a physical game that gets lost/stolen or damaged beyond repair. Yeah you have more control over a physical copy, but some things are beyond our control.

Not trying to sway you one way or the other... I guess my whole point is just enjoy the content you want to enjoy, however you want to enjoy it, because ultimately ownership is temporary in almost all cases.

Re: Feature: 7 Reasons For Picking Starter Pokémon, But How Do You Pick Yours?

Deege

I always avoid spoilers on the evolutions and only choose based on the first form. ( Aside from gen 1 which featured them on the box art )

I tend to have a Water type leaning which I started to notice after picking Piplup in Pearl.

Red: Charmander
Silver: Totodile/Cyndaquil ( multiple play-throughs )
Ruby: Mudkip
Pearl: Piplup
White: Snivy
White 2: Tepig
Y: Froakie
Sun: Popplio
Sword: Sobble
Legends: Rowlet
Violet: Quaxly

Re: More Info On Pokémon Sword And Shield's The Crown Tundra DLC To Be Shared Tomorrow

@Yosher I personally hated Z moves with a passion. Megas were... Okay. I mostly enjoyed the cool designs of them more then anything.

But Dynamax feels fine to me. There's a lot of strategy behind when and how to use and overcome Dynamax Pokemon. It also makes WAY more Pokemon viable for competitive play, and once this DLC drops and legendaries, psuedo legendaries, and Ultra Beasts are running wild in the meta I feel like Dynamax will really help to keep them in check and balance things out. ( assuming legendaries and Ultra Beasts won't be able to Dynamax... If they can the game is over imo. )

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Version 1.1.1 Is Now Live

Deege

@Ardisan 250 hours here. Sword and Shield are the most fun games for Pokemon battles in the series to date, and I've played every game upon release. Sword and Shield have so much variety, I can go online and see different team setups constantly.

Re: Talking Point: Even Dexit Couldn't Derail The Pokémon Hype Train In 2019

Deege

@Kalmaro Oh yeah, ideally Gamefreak could have just banned ALL Legendaries and Ultra Beasts from online ranked battles and everything would have been much more balanced.

The only reason I was "happy" they were cut is because we knew the Dex cut was happenjng regardless, and I was hoping they wouldn't cut a bunch of Pokemon AND leave all the legendaries in.

I am disappointed that most of the starters were cut, but I'm still having fun with the game even 100 hours in, so I can't be too upset.

Re: Talking Point: Even Dexit Couldn't Derail The Pokémon Hype Train In 2019

Deege

Dexit is disappointing for sure, but it was inevitable. I'm actually glad all the legendaries were cut, because they offer nothing when it comes to competive. They're either banned so they're useless, or they're allowed and are some of the most unbearably difficult monsters to battle against. The part of Dexit that really stings in my eyes, is cutting out all of the starters. That was a mistake imo.

Aside from that I love the game. I do have criticisms of course, like not having a fun way to level your team to 100. Hyper Training still being inaccessible until level 100 is a bad idea. Mints sounded like a cool idea but are gated with high BP prices. Shiny hunting is still as awful as ever... but aside from these gripes this is still up there with some of my favorite Pokemon games.

Re: There's "No Way" Future Smash Bros. Games Will Have As Many Fighters As Ultimate, Says Sakurai

Deege

At this point their ONLY option would be to port Ultimate to the "Switch 2" All DLC included, and then just work on more DLC fighters, building on what they already have. I understand this would ALSO be very difficult due to licensing... But I beleive most of these 3rd party companies would be happy to keep their IPs in Smash and would probably consider cutting Nintendo a deal since it's a mutually beneficial thing to have your IP in Smash.

Re: Switch SNES Controller Confirmed, Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games Next?

Deege

@Shinobi1Kenoby Even then you're not guaranteed to be able to redownload those games 20 years down the line if something happens to your Switch or downloaded coppies... Unfortunately at that point... Or even 10 years from now, you'd be better off modding a Switch and dropping roms into it.

Personally I'm glad to lease the games for $35 a year to get the family plan so me, my brothers, and a few friends can enjoy the games as we get them...
