Discount supermarket chain Lidl is getting generous this year and distributing a traditional Christmas jumper to Nintendo Switch owners for absolutely nothing. Free stuff!
The catch? Well, besides the fact it's horrifically garish (we wouldn't have it any other way), it's also digital-only. Yes, in case you somehow missed the headline and lead image, it's an Animal Crossing: New Horizons custom design for your islander to wear this holiday season.
The jumper, which featured in the supermarket's seasonal ads, was available to purchase physically for a very reasonable £7.99 until demand reportedly outstripped supply. Fortunately, now the entire world (or Animal Crossing players, at least) can get their hands on this season's most unlikely must-have item.
The British Twitter account for the chain put out the tweet below with a cute little video featuring their festive offering:
As you can see above, to get your hands on this itchy nightmare you'll need to enter the code "MO-PLTS-4L5V-N1XR" at the terminal in the Able Sisters' shop.
We've certainly seen our fair share of Animal Crossing custom designs since the game launched back in March — many of them super impressive — but even after all these months, they're still managing to raise a smile. Keep 'em coming, we say.
Let us know below if you or anyone in your family will be sporting this monstrosity over the holidays, digitally or otherwise!

That’s incredibly ugly and tacky. I want one.
Dope I'm gonna restart AC:NH this weekend and this will be the first thing I get after the tutorials done bc I love ugly sweaters but not itchy ones
That's hilariously on-point if you've watched VargSkelethor's Animal Crossing streams.
I sure hope Lidl have Phoebe on their island.
I hope Tesco responds with there own with a villager looking like Prunella Scales.
Lidl usually does Christmas pretty well, but this is something else...
Not even in my 7 y.o-self's wildest dreams I would imagine big brands acknowledging video games as a marketing medium.
I think that's smart and cool
Lidl is my favorite store.
I wonder if Nook Stores is going to pay it’s COVID rate relief back as well after a stellar year?
I think it's hilarious, but isn't Nintendo trying to stop brands advertising in AC?
@SonicAlpha No, they just want them to follow the guidelines they set moving forward.
One would like a Marks & Spencer Christmas jumper, only the best will do.
This is such a cool idea. I wish Canadian retailers would do something like this.
@LoveRose_428 I agree. I used to think ALDI was my favourite store, but there was always too much gossip.
I honestly prefer a LIDL less conversation... XD
(I hope someone gets the joke)
This reminds me of when Ubisoft used actual British LIDL folders as posters in ZombiU (in the store area), just poorly edited the LIDL logo out but left all the brands on the products, making them easily recognisable.
