I'll be watching for sure, but with a little asterisk that most things they'll show probably won't be for me. In fact I'm almost positive that the only good thing they'll show for me will be Pokémon Snap.

But hey I'm still a Pokémon fan despite all my criticism over the series so I'm hoping to be genuinely surprised.

Looking forward to this Pokémon "Direct". Hopefully they will confirm the Diamond/Pearl remakes. I guess that there will be some surprises; an "All-Stars" pack with Gen I and/or II for Switch would be awesome (even if they are already available in the 3DS Virtual Console).

I may fall and continue buying some of their games but the non-existing difficulty from the last generations killed any possible hype imo. The only anniversary i hyped this year was Zelda and only brought us the worst (less good) 3d Zelda back.

The only thing I want to know more about right now is the Detective Pikachu sequel.

Please don’t ruin Gen 4. Even though I can always play the originals, the remakes so far have been fantastic so it would just be a missed opportunity.

A smartphone app to teach my kids how to use the toilet hygienically and respectfully would be good, thanks.

Here are what I think are most likely: Sinnoh remakes (not sure if it'll be Let's Go or not), Sw/Sh DLC, Pokemon Unite News, and Pokken 2.

Not sure if I'm up for anything in particular. I have Shield when I want to revisit that, I still need to play PMD DX, and Pokemon Snap is one of a handful of games I'll be grabbing when it comes out. Also as mentioned by Manah, Detective Pikachu news would make a lot of sense, but I'm curious how they'd handle a sequel with theaters in their current condition, and wondering what the game sequel will be like.

No matter what they will unveil, a lot of people are going to get mad for any reason. The Pokémon fanbase is so diverse that it's become impossible to fully please over time. The salt is going to be incredible, I can't wait!! An announcement to look forward to for sure.

Personally whatever is shown, I am tempted to skip even though I tried to enjoy even the most recent games. Not particularly interested in Let's Go-style remakes, and if they unvelied a new game that's anything like SwSh I might just pass... I made a serious attempt to get into that with a clean state of mind and it was tolerable, but falls a tad short of what I'd expect out of the company for now (my desires are far from unrealistic). I hope they will show some good spin-offs though, those are fun!

I still need to go back and play through Sword. Maybe ill get back in tonight.

Confession time: I played every pokemon since Red/Blue except I totally skipped all 8 (9?) games on the DS and came back for XY on the 3DS.
I'm not big on Pearl and Diamond, but I was hoping a nice remaster would be my first experience in Sinnoh.
But right now I fear they will make a Let's Go 4th gen, and I'm not giving it a chance

@Yanina If they made Pokemon makeup like they have with Animal Crossing then it would sell bucketloads. Plus I’d be very interested to see how creative they could be with certain Pokemon.

Well for everyone who was wondering why no pokemon news at the direct last week. Here is your answer

I can’t! I finally bit on sw/sh last month. Was actually impressed at first, but damn that game is BAD. I will not play another mainline Pokémon until they freshen up the polish and overall game design. Pokémon Snap however, looking forward to it

It’s a good thing Pokémon already has a monster fan base already, because Sword and Shield really didn’t do much to pull me, an outsider, into the franchise. If it were a brand new IP you can be sure those games wouldn’t have sold a quarter what they did.

I may try the Let’s Go games eventually and probably Snap, but still waiting for a Pokémon game that really wows and excites.

I just want a proper Switch game. Would be happy enough with a Let's Go, either Sinnoh or Johto (personal favourite)

As it's a Pokemon Presents rather than a Pokemon Direct, I think it'll just be mobile games and other spinoffs. Maybe if you're extremely lucky, more missing Pokemon are announced for Sword/Shield.

I bet we're gonna get news on the moba they're working on, but in the most drawn-out way possible. Probably a minute or two for Snap, and, of course something to do with sinnoh. I wholeheartedly believe this because gamefreak loves money. (I would be surprised if they didn't announce a remake or something)

Hype! Although I thought the base Sword and Shield games were average, the DLC for them was excellent. If we get more DLC and/or an announcement of a new title (Diamond and Pearl remakes), then I would be very satisfied.

Of course, I expect updates on other Pokémon spin-offs such as Snap (hooray), Sleep, and Unite.

I'm hoping for Let's Go Johto expansion for the Let's Go games, or new Let's Go games for Johto, and DP remakes. I want it all! 😁

I would be happy if they say that GameFreak f*cked it up enough and that Genius Sonority is doing the mainline games now. Why them? Their Gamecube games have been very neat. These and the first TCG on Gameboy are my most favorite Pokemon games. :3

@ok1 I ment a F2P game in addition to Pokemon Snap. Ofcourse I don't think Snap will be free, but I think they will have some free Pokémon thing.

I remember the last one so I have no ambitious expectations. They could dedicate the whole thing to a Pokemon Calorie Counter app and it wouldn't surprise me.

Probably more lame remakes. I'm just going to stick to emulation for Pokemon games from now on they don't really innovate in any meaningful way anymore.

Damn the Pokemon fanbase is awful isn't it? I came back to it with the let's go remakes after not playing since gen 3 and really enjoyed them. I also liked sword/shield especially cause they were the UK. I don't get the toxicity tbh if you don't like the bloody game don't buy it.

Don’t expect main series announcements. This is a pokemon presents, not a pokemon direct. Pokemon presents are hosted by gamefreak and could be anything, while pokemon directs are hosted by Nintendo, and are switch games. There’s a small chance we may get main series games announced here, but I wouldn’t go in expecting it.

The best part of this will be immediately after where, no matter what they announce, people will be angry. Even if it's the game they wanted.

@BenAV Don't count 'em out just yet. After all X and Y were pretty divisive, but the remakes that gen (Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire) are in my opinion the second best games in the series (after HeartGold and SoulSilver). So anything could happen!

All I know is, if this ends up making a lot of people angry, I'm gonna retreat to my internet Bomb shelter.

@Brummieendo90 I think a lot of it has to do with an older segment of fanbase who've at least played pretty consistently being frustrated at the lack of any meaningful evolution of the games. For as old as the franchise is it hasn't changed all that much which is ironic given the theme of you need to evolve to do your best. Which doesn't justify toxicity.

@Jokerwolf I've kinda given up on Gamefreak doing much more than the bare minimum. It took em' till generation 8 to get rid of HMs, a mechanic that even as a kid made no sense while I played gen one and two for the first times. I hope they surprise me one day.

*some sort of slideshow or montage along with merchandise that everyone will enjoy. as always everyone will be so smothered in nostalgia by the slideshow/montage that anything shown will be better due to nostalgia

@GrandScribe Ngl with HMs gone I do miss them for their exploration and puzzle purposes. They could totally have brought them back in swsh and had them work. You could have them unlearnable. People would say "well then you could get stuck," but with the flying taxi and portable PC, you could easily leave situations where past games would leave you stuck without HMs

This might be because I started recently getting back in to Digimon with the 20th anniversary Vpets that came out a couple years ago now, but I think it would be totally awesome if Nintendo and Pokemon Company decided to put out a 25th anniversary line of Pokemon Vpets that could also let you raise Pokemon and battle them with friends. Yeah sure it's a knockoff of Digimon but it's honestly something I am surprised Pokemon has really never done. I mean the Pocket Pikachu was a different animal entirely and so was the Pokewalker. I know it won't happen but it would be cool if they did do it.

I'm expecting "more of the same" which sadly means nothing for me. I'm sure there will be a new Pokemon game for me one day, but it requires the powers that be to give up on the tedious copy and paste job they keep on delivering and get some damn innovation, exploration, excitement and sense of adventure back into the series.

I honestly thought surely New Pokemon Snap would start the progress... but no. Once again it's literally more of the same.

If you still like the formula then genuinely good for you. Me? I honestly can't believe heads haven't rolled already.

@UmbreonsPapa Yeah, it did. I believe it had Pokemon Snap in it. The one thing that kind of makes me think this might not be that big in terms of news is how Nintendo isn't retweeting the announcement, unlike how they usually do when big news happens.

@Christofu I never understood them taking up a move slot except maybe as a way to make the game a bit more difficult in a very annoying way. I always thought HM abilities should be useable outside of battles if you had the correct badge and Pokemon that could use the abilities.

They are not really bad actually since i tend to play casual games.
I will welcome casual games like Imagine series or Petz series on Switch.

@StardusterEX Yeah I imported one! I absolutely love that thing. My favourite sprite on it is Umbreon! The only Eevee evolution I haven't evolved on there is Espeon, I really should try for that! HAHA! But yeah it would be nice if Pokemon did another one for the 25th anniversary, like how Digimon released the classic v-pets for their 20th anniversary a couple years back. I'm just a nostalgic 30-something wanting to relive the 90s HAHA. I know it won't happen. Fun to dream though.
