Wed 17th Oct, 2018 12:00 BST: We've updated this list to highlight the gen 4 Pokémon that you can currently find in Pokémon GO. Luxray and below are not currently available, while everything above is. We'll keep this updated.
Niantic has confirmed that Gen 4 Pokémon will arrive soon in Pokémon GO, and we can barely stand to wait. That's the monsters that originally made an appearance in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, which took place in the Sinnoh region in case you didn't know that already.
Sadly, we have no idea when these new Pokémon will make it into the game, but you can be sure we'll update you as soon as they do. In the meantime, you can start preparing right now, as many Pokémon already available in Pokémon GO will get new evolutions when Gen 4 hits.
In this guide, we're going to list all of the Pokémon that will arrive Pokémon when Gen 4 hits, including their types, evolutions, and number. Have a browse through to see if any of your favourites are due to make an appearance.

This is the day we've been waiting for, for many many months now.
Soooo many things waiting to be evolved!
@Foxyglen Got a typo on Shaymin
I always thought Gen 4 was a solid one. The one that reminded me the most of Gen 2, my favorite.
best gen
please remake it ffs im ready gf
I dropped out at 2nd Gen when I learned that all my pokemon from the G/S/C games couldn't be transferred over to the GBA games. I had a vague awareness of 3rd Gen, but have absolutely no clue about anything that came afterwards.
Aside from the ones that showed up in a Smash Bros game, these are all brand new to me.
@RupeeClock We're still waiting for Smeargle...
Wait arceus is in this generation? Heck yeah we can have the powers of gods now
Awesome, I was waiting for Nintendo Life to drop this news when it dropped yesterday. It's awesome news, been saving up my Murkrow, Ralts, Sneasel, Rhydon, Electabuzz, Magmar, Dusclops & Magnamite candy for months now.
@Desrever I know a lot of people that dropped when Gen 3 was released & I can understand that. Personally I loved Ruby & Sapphirel... it's my favourite Gen by far. Plus they've not dropped older Pokémon since.. I still have my Ruby/Sapphire pokémon in my Sun/Moon game.
Infernape is the best Pokemon and if you disagree your opinion is wrong
@FoxyGlen Probopass through Dialga have Pokemon Type errors
Can't wait to catch 1,000 Bidoofs!
@Octane
We also still do not have Kecleon, Clamperl, Gorebyss, or Huntail. They have special moves, abilities, or evolution methods or items that probably need technical implementation before they can be released.
Spinda was unreleased for a long time, until they eventually settled on avoiding pattern randomisation and just have 8 preset patterns available instead.
@RupeeClock Nincada & family too.
I don't see the issue with Smeargle, release it with Tackle and Ember, Water Gun, Leafage, like the one in Sun & Moon. Done
Kecleon should just remain a Normal type, but maybe they're thinking of making him a gimmick in the overworld like Ditto. Clamperl just needs two items, and Nincada... Check for PokeBall, and add a Shedinja. Shouldn't be too difficult, right?
@Octane @RupeeClock If I had to say why certain pokémon haven't been released like Smeargle, I'd say it's because it has a very battle orientated effect.. much like Kecleon & Shedinja. PoGo will need quite a big shake up to provide a fun PvP experience... if PvP just comes down to dodge, fast/charge attack people will be VERY dissapointed.
Of course Niantic could just be waiting out the PvP update to force in new evolution items & mechanics rather than drip-feeding them & spreading out the bugs. Niantic is quite well know for dumping a lot of changes at once & then spending a lot of time fire-fighting bugs.
I completely forgot that so many of my favorite Pokemon (and evolution lines) came from a Gen I wouldnt personally put too high on my list.
Hopefully, hunting down a Buizel, Shinx, Pachirisu, and Bunneary [and Lopunny] wont be too tough.
You guys could have saved a lot of time by linking to Bulbapedia or Serebii...
Diamond and Pearl starts in Season 10 of Pokemon in a couple weeks on Twitch. That's a perfect time to launch Gen 4.
Season 7 just ended today. I drifted away from the anime and movies around the Celebi movie. The Twitch marathon has been great to help recapture the magic. I went and finished Omega Ruby after not really playing a main line game since Soul Silver and never finishing Ruby on gba.
