Re: Talking Point: How Good Are You At Games?

DK-Fan

I have been playing games my whole life and I am good at learning theam and beating them. But I never became a pro.

There are games I master (like Mario kart) and others that I am average (most fighting games) and others I just don't have the patience for (Minecraft).

Something interesting I found is that lately, when it comes to "cinematic" games (like the majority of the Playstation games), I play them on Easy. Maybe because in these games, difficulty is pretty much useless here. It's about going from point A to point B and get done with it. I don't even bother getting 100%. I mean what for? for a silly 2-minute clip I can watch on YT?

Re: Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Is Running On Unreal Engine 5

Dragon Quest games are released on the best-selling console in Japan at the moment of development:

DQ1, 2 3 and 4:Famicom
DQ 5 and 6: Super Famicom
DQ 7: Playstation
DQ8: Playstation 2
DQ 9: Nintendo DS
DQ 10: Wii
DQ 11: PS4 and 3DS

They make ports but once the base game has made a profit. or in the case of 10 to keep the servers costs.

So I guess DQ12 will be on Switch seeing how it is the best selling console in japan and is outselling the competition.

Re: Talking Point: New Super Mario Bros. Is 15 Years Old, And It's Still Fantastic

This and Mario Kart are the reasons why I got a DS. I still have them in my collection.

2D Mario is the TRUE Mario. 3D Mario is fun but more like a spin off than the real thing. It's a shame Nintendo (and Miyamoto) don't care about 2D Mario even though is the one that brings the masses and saves their skins when things are bad.

I hope a new one comes to Switch that is not a bloody port.

Re: Talking Point: Why Did Nintendo Give Up On Its 'Classic Edition' Concept So Soon?

DK-Fan

NES classic was created as a quick solution for an abysmal 2016 Holidays. They just didn't expect it would be THAT succesful. SNES Classic was just a way to keep the trend coming while Switch was adapting to the market.

Switch is succesful. And SNES classic sold a bit less than NES classic...so there was no point to keep doing this.

Besides, N64 mini?! what are you gonna add in there? N64 wasn't as succesful or popular as NES and SNES. Game Boy, maybe. But Again, with Switch on the market, there's no need for a "in case of emergency" product anymore.

Nintendo uses their classic games to improve poor sales, to apease customers or launch something. They did it with the Wii VC after the failure of the Game Cube, they did with the Ambassador program on the 3DS and they did with the Nintendo Online service.
