Are you in the market for a new single-player 2D action-adventure platformer? The intriguingly-titled Blast Brigade vs. the Evil Legion of Dr. Cread from MY.GAMES might be worth adding to your watch-list. It's headed to Switch later this year.
Developed by Allods Team, Blast Brigade combines the bullet mayhem of run 'n gun platformers with deep, Metroidvania-style world exploration. In the game, you assemble a team of four playable heroes with their own abilities, switch characters on the go, upgrade weapons, face challenging bosses, and prevent doomsday.
Blast Brigade tells the story of a diverse group of special agents from across the globe that will have to unite against the evil genius Dr. Cread. A seemingly routine mission soon escalates into a mission to save the world, which sees the heroes working together to safeguard the ancient heritage of an island paradise.

Looks a bit generic gameplaywise but it looks pretty cool
The game itself looks pretty good. But...and even though it seemed to be self aware about it, that video was cringe as heck.
Looks interesting enough. I didn't really listen to anything they were saying and just focused on the gameplay and animation, which look solid, if also-ran. Could be a nice time sink at the right price.
@fadedcolors
This screams 'ported from mobile' to me, mobile games can actually be good if they skip the usual crap like F2P/MTX robbery.
Right up my alley but the art style and game play seems uninspired. Might try it out if it's priced right.
While it does look like a ported mobile game, particularly the giant Mario sized coins to pick up, at least visually it looks nice.
I'm really tired of pixel art games unless they have as much detail as something like Dead Cells. I'm not of fan of low pixel count games, I got enough of those as a kid. I want something that looks like I can actually make out what I'm looking at.
Seems like Metroidvania is the only genre in existence these days. I love good Metroidvania, but good lord, don't we have enough of those?
I hated that trailer. It made me want to stay far away from the game, so I don't know why they made it like that.
@MatoFilipovic I wonder the same thing. I'm a big fan of Metroidvanias, but I see stuff like this and can't help but wonder how long we have before the bottom falls out for this genre. This game looks decent, but it doesn't look like it brings anything new or notable to the table. If ever, when will audiences get tired and stop buying these?
Good that it's a Metroidvania but the flash style graphics isn't my cup of tea so this is a pass to me for now.
Not feeling the graphics and the marionette style animation. Despite its cleanliness, it comes off as cheap and quick. Maybe for budget reasons this style is necessary..? But alas, as soon as I see it, I’m out. I do like it’s premise though.
@SwitchVogel the gaming audience is now probably big enough that there will always be buyers. But while it may not bottom out, the genre will probably not have much prominence again either, even if the right fan favourites hit
Hey Indie developers...YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHER GENRES BESIDES "METROIDVANIAS", RIGHT?!
Jesus!
Who wrote this crap? You mean who animated this crap? Reminds me of that terrible way forward game about dinosaurs and spiders.
