Last week, during Capcom's special Monster Hunter Direct, the company announced it would be releasing three new amiibo alongside Monster Hunter Rise in March next year.
The three figures include Palamute, Magnamalo and Palico - all different special layered armour sets in-game. Originally Capcom only showed artwork of the three amiibo, but now it seems we've got our first look at what they'll actually look like:
Keep in mind that all three amiibo will be available at select stores in each region, so buying options will be limited. US: GameStop, Canada: EB Games, Europe: My Nintendo Store (see our previous post for more information about this).
What do you think of these designs? Will you be adding these amiibo to your collection? Tell us down below.

Stories had better ones.
Yeah, I said it, fite me!
Never a fan of the plastic supports, but the figures themselves are really well designed and detailed.
...the fur is way nicer than the Cat Mario and Peach amiibo too.
Preorders are not now available. At least not in the US
I just went onto GameStop's website in the US and searched 'amiibo monster hunter rise'. The search didn't know what I was talking about, so it gave me results for 'amiibo Animal Crossing Resetti'.
I hope GameStop gets this sorted soon. People must be trying to pre-order already, and the website apparently doesn't know the damn things even exist. I don't get quite as bothered by the idea of store-exclusives as many people do (like, by no means do I like them but they don't bother me too much) - but I tend to make an exception for GameStop because everything about them, from their customer service to their website, are a load of arse.
GameStop?! Why? That’s trash! They mishandle everything! They will be mishandling this! Mark my words!
Zacian lite and ninja cat
I'll do my best to get them, but won't sweat it if I can't.
@Northwind I had to go in store to GameStop to pre-order.
@Northwind most likely they wont be available to preorder till we get into nov or dec time frame.
@Tendogamerxxx not all gamestops are that bad just certain one man the one i go too treats me and other customers with respect and very ncie as well.
That Palico amiibo is the best one.
@DarthGummiDucky, well, if that's going to be the way it is then I (and countless others) are going to be SOL. I've had this discussion on other threads - so it would probably be a bit spammy to repeat everything here - but the gist is that GameStop has permanently closed hundreds of stores across the US over the past 6-8 months, and has openly said they're going to close hundreds more before March of next year. (Importantly, however, they have not said which those stores are, so those stores are still taking pre-orders that won't ultimately be fulfilled.)
I personally no longer have a GameStop near enough to me to conveniently go into the store. I do have one close enough to me that they'd ship to me if the item I want is on their website - and I could go into a store if I really wanted to, since the closest one is in the next town over (about an hour-and-a-half return trip from me). Many people don't even have that luxury anymore, and even more won't by the time these actually drop. Making these exclusive to GameStop is gonna cause a lot of people to miss out.
Love the Palico and Magnamalo amiibos.
I hope we get a Hunter amiibo via Monster Hunter being added as a Smash DLC character. I NEED a Hunter amiibo. It would explain why a Hunter amiibo wasn’t made for the game... and a Switch Pro launching in March would explain why a MH edition Switch console wasn’t revealed.
Lots of pieces to the puzzle coming into play with Monster Hunter Rise.
Bestbuy has preorders up for a CE with the amiibo included... but you didn't hear it from me. (No really you didn't, please don't buy them all up, I want one too)
Man, those is some ugly designs.
Gamestop? Why choose a business that's on the brink of collapse for a product that's 6 months out? Not saying their doors will be shuttered by then but I could see fulfilment issues if they face financial crisis between now and then.
@Chowdaire, as I mentioned above, they've already closed hundreds of stores in the past 6-8 months, and have openly stated that they're going to close hundreds more before March (but nobody knows which stores are getting the axe - not even the stores themselves - so those stores are still taking pre-orders even though those'll eventually be either cancelled or 'transferred' when those stores close; the latter is actually worse, because when pre-orders are transferred to another store, that store typically doesn't get more stock allocation as a result, and sometimes the new store isn't especially local to boot so even cancelling the pre-order becomes a pain since that typically has to be done in-person).
I agree that GameStop is unlikely to be 100% defunct by the time these launch, so for people who still have one local to them it probably won't be a big issue. But for those who no longer have one local to them when these launch, or who place a pre-order at a store that ultimately closes and then has to drive to the next town to even cancel that pre-order...yeah. As a former GameStop employee who was there when a store that had taken pre-launch PS3 pre-orders was abruptly closed, I'm predicting a mess. If I'm wrong, it'll be one of the happiest errors of my life - but given that GameStop themselves has said that they're gonna be closing more stores between now and then, and given my firsthand experience with that happening. well. All I can say is, have some popcorn ready and hope you don't need it.
@Northwind im pretty sure gamestop is going to close stores that are not performing well(cough)bad apple ones that dont treat customers properly(cough) but the ones that are doing well will probably stay open especially the one i go too their nice and treat me well so i hope they stay open.
@RiasGremory, yeah, underperformance is typically one of the principle factors leading to closure of a store. But the 'underperforming' store I mentioned in my above comment still had a large number of PS3 pre-orders at the time we were informed that the store was closing within less than a week - and hoo boy, that was a mess. I left GameStop shortly after that fiasco, but I've kept in touch with friends who stayed longer (including a few who still worked for the company as recently as a few months ago), and they tell me the situation has not improved and if anything has got worse.
So, yeah, underperforming stores will probably be closed - but how do we, as customers, know which stores are underperforming (or meet any of two or three other primary criteria for closure) so that we don't pre-order there and risk being part of the ensuing fiasco? Even the stores themselves don't know which are on the chopping block. (Some might have reason to suspect. but I can attest that nobody I've ever worked with has ever been 100% accurate in trying to predict these things; in every round of closures, there are always a few stores we were left wondering how in Hades they survived, as well as a few we were utterly blindsided by the closure.)
I will buy these. That's what I think.
Just got back from night out and did preorders in person on all three at my local Gamestop in the U.S. The special/elite/ultimate? edition of the game preorder has already sold out per Gamestop.
@link3710 Just got back from Gamestop physically doing preorders here, and I live in the South.
Very nice looking
Those...actually look pretty neat! The Palamute is my favorite, but they're all decent.
They look awesome, I'll get them if I get Rise.
@muscpt I was looking online, since stores are closed here near me by now.
I mean...it's a dog, a cat, and a deadly monster, of course I'm gonna get em
@link3710 yeah they are
@Chunkboi79 Link please?
I won't be able to get them since they'll be My Nintendo Store exclusive here and I don't have a credit card. >_< Thanks Nintendo.
The magnamalo looked way better in the ad than the actual amiibo. Wtf happened!?!??
Fantastic. More deprivation of money to fund my dirty amiibo addiction.
I was lucky to get my preorders in on the amiibo. I missed the collector’s edition though. Deluxe and the three amiibo is a hefty price tag I need to pay on before March.
@Paraka Those were super nice, and sadly Japan only. I never got them. I hope they aren’t compatible with the new game... I’ll be sad.
So many amiibos, yet we won't have Dragon Quest Hero variants, although they would sell really well, but they had to release two Bayonetta and two Clouds a couple years ago. And they were released at once. Now we can't expect them to launch the Hero variants because they haven't even been anounced.
Forgive me for my little off-topic, I had to complain somewhere.
@Varkster We'll probably be able to get them from EB here, since it's a subsidiary of GameStop. I'm probably going to get the Palico one myself.
Not as nice as the original images but still good enough to go in the collection ... if I can grab them
Love how people trash GS but in the same breath talk why can't they find them. You don't have both ways so stop whinning here. Trying to label something unrelated to GS from one situation to another is why you can't find them to PreOrder in person. So when these options go away you yourself are to blame for this not GS.

How does the magnamarlo not look like the promo advert above.
I was excited about this lineup, and now I’m just interested with the palico.
@Chunkboi79 ...that's the game not Amiibo
Original Palamute
I'm a serious hunter on the prowl, stay out of my way.
amiibo Palamute
I'm a domesticated puppy, please rub my belly.
Original Palico
Hey, how's it going?
amiibo Palico
Look at me bowling.
Original Magnamalo
I'm a scary monste,r run for your life!
amiibo Magnamalo
I'm mega Charizard X, catch me in your ball.
Actual resin Mega Charizard X.
I was only interested Magnamalo and maybe Palamute but now I think all 3 are a pass.
@JaxonH Well at least you should be able to get these without calling in the ninja SWAT force.
"would explain why a MH edition Switch console wasn’t revealed."
B/c the last 4 MH games were all dual screen on the 3DS - 3, 4, G, S - it would make sense that we aren't getting a Switch Pro, but a Switch DS, for the next 2 MH games, R & S2.
Well at least I think it makes as much sense as the "Pro" rumours. Why does Nintendo need a "Pro" model when Switch and Lite are selling so well? What it needs is a dual screen model so we can play ports of all the DS and 3DS games, and some proper playing of Wii U games. And a gameshell design. Is it really even a Nintendo handheld if you can't buy it in a clamshell design?
Personally I'd rather have a cheaper more powerful Switch TV, which could be the Switch Pro I suppose, cut down on price w/o a screen or battery, basically just a relabeled Nvidia Shield TV Pro, just swap the remote for a Pro controller, $199. But while I used to think that was inevitable I kind of doubt it now, gives up too much for gaining too little.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/shield-tv-pro/
But a Switch DS, well I can finally play Kid Icarus Uprising in HD. And Luigi's Mansion 2. And Hey! Pikmin. And those Kirby games.
But most importantly, 2 new MH games, and 4 ports. It seems just feasible enough. Not built on the Switch though, off of the Lite, would look like a New 2DS XL. Speakers on the bottom, all they would add to the top is a screen.
@rjejr
People said the same thing when Lite released. "Who wants this? Switch is already selling well".
I cant presume to know their thinking but I do know a Pro is in demand, and a dual screen system isnt happening. It would result in 4 years of games having nothing on the bottom screen, devs having to make dual screen for one system and not the other... it's just not gonna happen. Theres no demand for it either.
The Switch Pro has multiple credible leaks already, the most recent from the same person who leaked Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil VIII. You have to let the evidence lead your beliefs, rather than form beliefs ahead of time and selectively cherry pick evidence to believe or ignore to force the shoe to fit.
All I know is we have credible leakers saying Switch Pro is real, and more than one source at that. I believe them over speculation without any supporting evidence.
@link3710 you didn't specify game or amiibo. Regardless, you could get the collectors edition right now with Purple zinogre
@Chunkboi79 This article specifically says the amiibo are available to preorder. I'm trying to preorder the amiibo.
@JaxonH "People said the same thing when Lite released. "Who wants this? Switch is already selling well"."
99% of the people saying that do NOT have kids. Every parent with 1 TV and 1 Switch dock hooked up to it wanted Switch systems without docks that were $100 cheaper.
You do make a lot of sense about the 4 years worth of games w/ no bottom screen support. Maybe that's why Switch doesn't have Twitter yet, they are saving the bottom screen for doom scrolling while we play on the top screen.
Ok, so Switch Pro first - though they wont' call it that - then Switch 2 can be Switch DS, only they can call it Switch 2 Screens, so Switch 2S instead of Switch DS. Better than Wii U.
10/10 amiibos only because it's monster hunter xD
Palico is the only one I consider decent
Palamute's stance is a bit boring, the plastic support looks kind of unnecessary. The details don't look great either, but it probably looks better in real life since the figure is quite small
Magnamalo... just no... why are his legs just floating in the air? I don't think I like the size either. Probably looks awkward next to another Amiibo. Also I'm never a fan of plastic flames or air
The Palico is fine, dynamic stance and from the looks of it decent details
@Paraka
That's why I imported the Stories ones. They're still compatible with the English version of Stories, too!
