@Kraven "What Metroid Prime 4 is seemingly trying to be is a far less interesting, and more dated, type of first-person action game with none of the mood the series is known for."
Not exactly a "classic metroid prime experience" it seems
0 definitely had is issues (did you remember the hookshot?) But it's always been one of my favorites. Hard to beat the atmosphere of a runaway train full of Zombies, and the classic mansion esthetic. I don't really think it needs a remake, but I would definitely buy it if they made one.
I have my original NES my neighbor gave me back in 96 that I still play on, as well as a retron 5 as a backup. I started actually collecting nes games a few years ago, and it's just so much more rewarding playing these games on original hardware.
@Res462 100% agree. It's crazy how much dialogue there is in some of these games. What happened to subtlety? They explain everything now. Plenty of filler too.
As a metroid fan, I never realized what a bunch of whiny, spoiled brats metroid fans are. Did I miss the part in the trailer where they shot her dog or something? Lol
The game looks amazing. It looks like metroid prime, but with a bike and ONE area that's big and open. Hasn't even come out yet and people are complaining about it.
I will not buy digital, I will not buy a code in a box, and I will not buy a hunk of plastic that doesn't actually have the game on it....which is exactly what the game "key card" bs are. It's just that simple. Put the games on the carts. Hope the companies that don't, fail.
@Joe11 the problem with that is they don't really limit production aside from within a certain window, and literally anyone can buy their stuff. It's not like they only make 1000 of a game. They'll make as much as there is demand for over a 3-6 month pre-order period. For pretty cheap too. Most of those games don't even go up in resale value.
I'd say we've reached the point in the internet timeline where people will freak out about anything without confirmation, and just spread whatever misinformation they want. I doubt this is true, but if it is, I also doubt most people would care. It's crazy to me though the amount of people I'm hearing (both on and offline) claiming things that are just wrong. If this launch does go badly, the spread of propaganda and misinformation by the online community will be more to blame than a single $80 game....
I've never played any of them honestly. I love rpgs and jrps, but these never really stood out to me. Given how highly they're ranked, that might have to change
Awesome! I can get the switch 1 version, and then just pay for the upgrade whenever I actually get a switch 2. That's way better than separate releases
I've never actually played any of the Dragon quest games. This looks visually stunning though. I've never been a fan of turn based games (other than Pokemon) but I might have to get into these.
I'd just like a gamecube controller for docked play in general. The pro controller is great (though kind of small), but gamecube is peak controller. I doubt they'd put GC games on NSO. Not when they can make so much money with remasters. I'd rather pay for physical copies of the remasters/remakes anyway
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They're already failing at directly competing with Sony, now they want to try and directly compete with Nintendo (and steam deck)? They should probably focus on trying to sell the hardware they have. They certainly aren't going to be able to compete with the switch 2, after it's been out for a year or two, and with a dedicated handheld. Only way that happens is if they don't bring their games to Nintendo and Sony, and also get considerably more exclusives. I don't see that happening.
The gaming market has only ever been able to handle 3 main console manufacturers, and usually with 1 of them losing quite badly. This sounds like Microsoft wants to continue their trend of being the latter
@Ultimapunch I never used virtual console on my wii. That's a pretty sweet deal, but what happens if your wii breaks? Can you login on another one and you're good to go?
For me, I just can't imagine a Pokemon game being based entirely in a city would be fun. Sure there are the "wild zones" but that just sounds so weird. There's, small parks and abandoned streets for Pokemon? In the city? What?
They'll outsell the ps2. How wouldn't they? Its going to keep selling after the S2 comes out and it doesn't have far to go. Hell it could WAY outsell it if they really wanted to. I doubt they do though. Imagine a new version of the switch (switch micro?) That's really small, lower processing power, etc. Make it affordable and as portable as the ds and gba were. Or just knock down the price of what's currently made, and throw in some reduced price games....they could easily do it.
@Kingy what makes the snes version of Wanderers so bad? I was recommended it by a friend and it's only like $20 for an original copy. Looking around on YouTube, seems people are split on it. People who love Ys hate it, people who don't play the Ys games seem to be into it.
Thanks for the upbeat guide, but where's the acknowledgement of how absolutely ridiculous, predatory, and insulting this trade system is? You can't pick the cards you want in return, common cards are worthless and can't be traded, and you have to consume a bunch of rare cards to get 1 rare card back? Absolutely insane. Glad the other gaming sites are talking about it

Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
I won't know how I feel about it until I play it. What I've seen looks amazing, what I've read here is concerning.

@Dee123 even more than what? Their standard editions are usually $35-40, lol
