@SalvorHardin I've always felt the exact opposite. I love the look of the original DS (mines blue) and always thought the versions after it looked incredibly cheap.
@Not_Soos exactly. The constant "switch 2" predictions are tiresome. They said it was halfway through its lifespan when the OLED was released. We still have a few years to wait, and that's just how it is. They don't care to compete with the new gen of consoles, and it makes sense they wouldn't.
Unless of course they CAN make a new switch that is just as affordable, more powerful, backwards compatible, and same or better battery life. Still probably 2-3 years out though
@Cashews eh, pre-orders. I don't buy digital, and find it strange that people do. If rather wait 10 months and actually own the product than have it right away but it isn't actually something I own. I also don't mind paying $30-35 for a physical copy of a game, which is most of them.
Either way, not being into them and outright hating them are two different things.
@Fizzieizzie I've liked everything I've got. The wait times can be brutal but I've never had one take over a year. They help a lot of indie developers put out their product and they aren't limited, so I'm not sure how they inflate process with scarcity. No different from Deluxe and collectors editions that everyone puts out.
I don't get the LRG hate on here. People are pissed that they're doing another 3ds release after they said they were done? So what? And yeah, they are a company that works for profit....like every other company, lol.
Everything I've gotten from them has been great. Most of the games have been $30-35 and since I don't buy digital games, it's perfect for me. Weird anger on here.
@UnseatingKDawg they just gave their devs and workers wage increases though. $70 for a game isn't new, and some games are going for lower anyway. Like Metroid for 40
@CharlieGirl sounds like you're pushing it as a "slippery slope" which is a logical fallacy. They're charging $70 cause they can, cause they think it's worth it, cause of inflation, etc. Doesn't mean they're going higher later. $70 games isn't new. In fact they could be even more than that in the 80s and 90s NOT adjusting for inflation.
Pre-ordered mine from best buy as soon as it was up on the site, picked it up when it was released. It's a great looking game and I'm so glad they Remastered it. Probably won't play my gamecube copy any time soon now, lol
Apparently I'm the odd man out because dread is easily my least favorite. Loved the game but I hate the design and the colors of the suit. Super Metroid and Prime have the best designs to me.
Definitely the SP. What an amazing design. Nintendo needs to release a "Gameboy classic" in the style of the SP, but obviously better screen, backlight, battery, etc. Make it compatible with all our old GB and GBA games, plus digital options, or even re-release old games on "collection cartridges" or something. Imagine picking up all the old GB Zeldas on a single cartridge.
So much whining about the new announcements. Inflation and chip shortage exist, and Nintendo gave their employees pay raises. Not surprising is more expensive, nor does it bother me. If you adjust for inflation, games used to be a lot more expensive.
Not sure how I feel about the dog, but obviously I'll hold my judgment until I can play it. I'm glad purple and white Pikmin are back. Hopefully 4 can capture some of the magic from 2, because to me that's peak Pikmin. 3 was kind of eh for me.
@RareFan lol, you should actually look into it. The first game had a real time limit, but 2 and 3 didn't. There is a day cycle that is technically a timer, but only for what you can get done in a day. Without it the game wouldn't be good and it would lose a lot of appeal. But there is no time limit in the sense of "if I don't do X before the time runs out, I lose." Thankfully. It's more like less laid back Animal crossing with real goals.
@Deljo you think it's mostly kids playing handheld switch? It's the adults, we're the ones who need the convenience of getting to play anywhere when we can. I see a lot of people that say they never got to play video games after having kids until they got a switch. The hybrid console model is genius for that market. Not all of us are able to sit and play COD for 6 hours straight on the couch
It should absolutely be a better iteration of the switch. Better meaning newer tech. They can add some kind of new innovation or gimmick of course, but they shouldn't stray from what is currently working.
If you look at the history of their consoles, the big new innovation always comes after 2 generations. For those 2 gens in-between, they're just improved versions of the same console with a twist usually. The SNES was an improved NES, then we got 3D graphics for the N64 and the Gamecube was the improvement. Motion control innovation led to the Wii, with the WiiU being the (half baked) improvement. Same thing with handhelds. Gameboy/GBC then the improved GBA, and DS then the improved 3DS. It should be the same thing this time, with an improved hybrid console that's hopefully backwards compatible with the switch.
@Giancarlothomaz last year Nintendo said the switch was only halfway through its life cycle. Kirby doesn't mean anything. Especially with tears of the Kingdom coming
Plenty of big titles in 2022, it was a great year for the switch. Especially if you compare it to PlayStation and Xbox.... they had what, 2 big games each?
Honestly, the switch is pretty much what's keeping me interested in gaming. At least gaming with recent titles.
Jungle green. Came with a copy of a yellow DK64 and the better jump pack. I ended up with this one since my family couldn't afford one for the first few years it was out. Still got it and it works!
"Nintendo's successor to the N64 felt oddly child-like by comparison, with its bright colours"
This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The N64 is way more child like than the gamecube, especially when talking about bright colors of the consoles. The N64 came in TONS of bright colored variants of see-through plastic. Not to mention special Pokemon editions and the toys r us exclusive extreme green. The N64 controllers just look like toys too.
If the games originally came in a cardboard box, I'll stick with loose carts. But if they came in cases (Sega, Sony, gamecube, ds, etc.) Then I absolutely want the case and manual.
@Would_you_kindly Pokemon is game freaks fault though. That's been discussed on here extensively.
As for 3rd party games, I haven't experienced it. Doom and no man's sky both work great. Seems like people are just exaggerating. Either that or myself (and quite a few other people on here) have just really kicked out and haven't had issues. I doubt that though.
Reminds me of fallout. I played new Vegas first and fell in love with it. I think playing 3 first would've been about the same reaction. But if I had started at 1? Probably never would've gotten through it. Pivotal I appreciate them now, but they're not the same games. Same thing can be said of a lot of the Nintendo series. The first metroid would be a tough sell now.
@Duncanballs yeah I kinda feel like they're gonna need multiple models. A switch 2 "max" or something. They definitely need to maintain affordability. They've acknowledged that a lot of their current sales are families adding more systems to their homes because of affordability
@jrt87 ridiculous claims. It's sales performance alone blows your argument to nothing.
I haven't had any performance issues with my switch. If I were to compare it to an Xbox or PlayStation, sure, it doesn't perform as well. But it's not supposed to. That's the whole point of Nintendo blue ocean tactic, they aren't directly competing with them and aren't comparable.
Also the gamecube was more powerful than the ps2 or Xbox, and had quite a few adult games. So I'm not sure what you're getting at there

Re: Review: Pikmin 1 - A Bare-Bones Port, But A Joyous Adventure
@Chaotic_Neutral then quit being one of their consumers. Way too many whiners on here whenever Nintendo announces something....
And NSO isn't free anyway. You're just paying a service fee. I'd much rather own my games
Re: Review: Pikmin 1 - A Bare-Bones Port, But A Joyous Adventure
@Nintendencies 8 million copies is "poor sales"? Tough crowd

Re: Limited Run Teases One Last Physical Release For Nintendo 3DS
@Cashews true, but if I can't re-sell it, I don't own it.
Re: Sega Explains Why Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Costs $80
So $1 per hour of game play then? Weird justification.
$80 for digital is absurd, especially re-releases.
Re: Limited Run Teases One Last Physical Release For Nintendo 3DS

@MontyCircus nothing pre GBA? You're missing out on some great games, especially Zelda, and the Mario and Wario Land games.

Great list. My only gripe is P4G over bioshock infinite or Super Mario 3D world? Definitely not.
Also I have no idea what fez is... I've never heard of the game. 2012 must have been a crappy game year, lol
Re: Feature: 50 Years Of Landmark Video Games, One Per Year, All Playable On Nintendo Switch
@Dragonslacker1 lousy in this context means "well supplied with or filled with, often to excess" and it's been around for like 50 years

@Lizuka quit whining and play it on wiiU then. This is a total remaster, and an absolutely great announcement for the rest of us.

@jly1987 not pretending. There's a reason all the best players use them and they're the best for competitions.
