While my favorite times playing video games were with childhood friends on the SNES, N64, and GameCube... at this point we're all basically spoiled with the switch. I now have access to an insane library of games, and I can play them all without hogging the TV from my fiance. If I have a party, even without people who are really into video games, Mario Kart or party comes out eventually. Our younger selves would be so jealous and excited....

Weird, I bought the membership and when I try and check out with the bundle of 3 games it's trying to get me to buy the membership again, despite being signed in. Hate crap like that...

Kinda seems like there's a bit of bias towards newer games. Probably because of a lot of younger players these days, and because most people aren't reviewing old games still. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Since everybody else is doing it, here's my top 10 in no particular order:

Pikmin 2
Animal Crossing - New Leaf
Super Mario 64
Zelda - BOTW
Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen
Zelda - Links Awakening (GBC)

@Ultimapunch not at all. I just love 2d Handheld games, including ones I've played for the first time recently. It's possible I prefer the visuals, music, aesthetics, etc. Of 2D games like that in general because of nostalgia though I suppose

Flying Pikmin are way too high. Yellow Pikmin can be used for flying enemies too

@samuelvictor definitely didn't ask for a book, but nah, it's not "absolutely fair" to say they're the same. Also Mario 2 is a real Mario game...it has Mario in it and it's called Super Mario bros 2. That's how it was released and that's good enough for me. 3 and world are quite different from 1, 2, and the lost levels as well. The 2d sonics are all far more similar to me, and I've been playing them since 95

Except it isn't in physical format. The "plus" is a download code. If everything was actually physical, is buy this. But since it's mostly digital content, definitely a no from me. I have at least 3 other ways to play 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles anyway

@Pigeon "if you've played one, you've played them all." Mario bros 1, 2, 3, and world are all totally different games so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. That's just plain wrong, lol

The "plus" content (12 games) is a download code instead of being on the actual physical cart. Why would I buy it then? 1/10

Replayed this last year on GC and it has aged incredibly well. Such a great game. Though the GC version does seem a bit fuzzier than I remember....

And NSO isn't free anyway. You're just paying a service fee. I'd much rather own my games

@SalvorHardin I've always felt the exact opposite. I love the look of the original DS (mines blue) and always thought the versions after it looked incredibly cheap.

@Not_Soos exactly. The constant "switch 2" predictions are tiresome. They said it was halfway through its lifespan when the OLED was released. We still have a few years to wait, and that's just how it is. They don't care to compete with the new gen of consoles, and it makes sense they wouldn't.

Unless of course they CAN make a new switch that is just as affordable, more powerful, backwards compatible, and same or better battery life. Still probably 2-3 years out though

@Cashews eh, pre-orders. I don't buy digital, and find it strange that people do. If rather wait 10 months and actually own the product than have it right away but it isn't actually something I own. I also don't mind paying $30-35 for a physical copy of a game, which is most of them.

Either way, not being into them and outright hating them are two different things.

@Fizzieizzie I've liked everything I've got. The wait times can be brutal but I've never had one take over a year. They help a lot of indie developers put out their product and they aren't limited, so I'm not sure how they inflate process with scarcity. No different from Deluxe and collectors editions that everyone puts out.

I don't get the LRG hate on here. People are pissed that they're doing another 3ds release after they said they were done? So what? And yeah, they are a company that works for profit....like every other company, lol.

Everything I've gotten from them has been great. Most of the games have been $30-35 and since I don't buy digital games, it's perfect for me. Weird anger on here.

@UnseatingKDawg they just gave their devs and workers wage increases though. $70 for a game isn't new, and some games are going for lower anyway. Like Metroid for 40

@CharlieGirl sounds like you're pushing it as a "slippery slope" which is a logical fallacy. They're charging $70 cause they can, cause they think it's worth it, cause of inflation, etc. Doesn't mean they're going higher later. $70 games isn't new. In fact they could be even more than that in the 80s and 90s NOT adjusting for inflation.

TP, Ocarina, BOTW, and original/dx LA link are the best. Not necessarily in that order

@MontyCircus nothing pre GBA? You're missing out on some great games, especially Zelda, and the Mario and Wario Land games.

Great list. My only gripe is P4G over bioshock infinite or Super Mario 3D world? Definitely not.

Also I have no idea what fez is... I've never heard of the game. 2012 must have been a crappy game year, lol

Pre-ordered mine from best buy as soon as it was up on the site, picked it up when it was released. It's a great looking game and I'm so glad they Remastered it. Probably won't play my gamecube copy any time soon now, lol

Apparently I'm the odd man out because dread is easily my least favorite. Loved the game but I hate the design and the colors of the suit. Super Metroid and Prime have the best designs to me.

Definitely the SP. What an amazing design. Nintendo needs to release a "Gameboy classic" in the style of the SP, but obviously better screen, backlight, battery, etc. Make it compatible with all our old GB and GBA games, plus digital options, or even re-release old games on "collection cartridges" or something. Imagine picking up all the old GB Zeldas on a single cartridge.

So much whining about the new announcements. Inflation and chip shortage exist, and Nintendo gave their employees pay raises. Not surprising is more expensive, nor does it bother me. If you adjust for inflation, games used to be a lot more expensive.

@WOLF13 it's a full remaster with improved controls. Not even close to "no effort"

Not sure how I feel about the dog, but obviously I'll hold my judgment until I can play it. I'm glad purple and white Pikmin are back. Hopefully 4 can capture some of the magic from 2, because to me that's peak Pikmin. 3 was kind of eh for me.

@RareFan lol, you should actually look into it. The first game had a real time limit, but 2 and 3 didn't. There is a day cycle that is technically a timer, but only for what you can get done in a day. Without it the game wouldn't be good and it would lose a lot of appeal. But there is no time limit in the sense of "if I don't do X before the time runs out, I lose." Thankfully. It's more like less laid back Animal crossing with real goals.

This was such a nice surprise. Gotta hold out for the physical....

@Lizuka quit whining and play it on wiiU then. This is a total remaster, and an absolutely great announcement for the rest of us.

I have big hands and I hate the split pad pro. Feels super cheap and uncomfortable, especially the joysticks

@jly1987 not pretending. There's a reason all the best players use them and they're the best for competitions.

@Deljo you think it's mostly kids playing handheld switch? It's the adults, we're the ones who need the convenience of getting to play anywhere when we can. I see a lot of people that say they never got to play video games after having kids until they got a switch. The hybrid console model is genius for that market. Not all of us are able to sit and play COD for 6 hours straight on the couch

@dkxcalibur what's wrong with the pro controller? Definitely my favorite modern controller. Unless I'm allowed to call the gamecube modern
