Re: Chained Echoes 'Ashes Of Elrant' DLC Arrives On Switch In August

CodyDogg

I shouldn’t be laughing at the plight of everyone (I ordered January 2023 or whatever it was too), but it just feels so validating to know others are still in my boat!! I probably 1-upped most by foolishly ‘doubling down’ and ordering UnderHero from them on the same transaction!? At this point, I’m fairly certain I’m Rogered out of my $100 USD (those customer service responses were…not very reassuring), but it’s oddly comforting knowing my bewilderment isn’t unique. Still holding out hope, just not my breath.!

And when it comes to playing the actual thing (never mind this DLC)? Yeah, have a seat somewhere in my 80-game backlog!

Re: Dead Cells' Final Update Arrives Next Month

@Coalescence
Goodness, this! I have been so close a couple times, then I get anxious, look at the Boss’ remaining life, throw ALL successful tactics employed to that point out the window, and TOTALLY blow it! I said I’d be done after BC I, but with all these updates, who knows? I have, like, 5 biomes undiscovered, and refuse to look up how to unlock them and the ‘special guests’; I want to achieve them ‘organically’!’ So…quite a bit left for me!
One of the best games/surprises, for me, on the Switch: no question!!

@SurprisedRobinChu
First Press??! That’s gotta be the one (I order from them all, and get confused easily) with Chained Echoes and UnderHero!? Been waiting 15 months (in the USA, which I believe is record wait-time, personally), and their Release Progress page has seemingly frozen in place.! Might be the first Burn I “receive” ordering games. Over 100€, but I guess losses should be expected when I’m on my 50th indie purchase…? Holding out hope, though; cmon, let’s get it shipped, guys!

Re: Review: In Stars And Time (Switch) - A Tricky, Story-Driven RPG With Echoes Of EarthBound

CodyDogg

@Andee
Thanks! Those are excellent points. Maybe I’ll let it hang around in my collection a little longer (steelbook + regular starts at, like, 90€ on eBay.!)?

It’s your caution of the long haul, naturally, that gives me all kinds of pause! With a backlog that includes Astral Chain, Tears of the Kingdom, Link’s Awakening, Death’s Door, Ys 9, Hollow Knight, NMH 3 (+ Travis Strikes Again), Digimon CS, Bugs Fable, Persona 5 Royal AND SMT-V (to name some of my standout physicals), it’s hard to justify rolling up my sleeves with such a game, when other comparable, yet less frustrating, titles are available and waiting to be cracked!

That’s so funny that you just delved into your year review; as it just so happens, I accessed mine yesterday and had a similar revelation: Switch Log says I only put 35 hours into Loop Hero, but ‘23 Review says it was 47! Must have been ‘dozing at the wheel’ again?! Thanks again for the feedback and correspondence! Have a great holiday (adding to your own collection, I hope) and Happy New Year!

@Andee
Thanks for taking a moment to respond, I appreciate that!
Wow! Yes, now that you mention it, I do recall other reviews lamenting the tedium of mode-swapping in the latter stages, not to mention how deft your reflexes need to be with the puzzles (it’s always a shame when you know how to proceed, but can’t get your hands to do perform [flawlessly]). Like you said, I am confident it is a quality game, but do I have the patience to endure it all? And as you, I rarely ‘quit’ a game unless it is broken or too vague for its own good (looking at you, Wuppo!). So…I think it’s just not meant to be, backlog withstanding. Thanks again for the response, happy holidays!

Re: Review: Tactics Ogre: Reborn - A Decent Remaster Of A 16-Bit Strategy Classic

CodyDogg

Are the buff cards too intrusive? Every screenshot I see has dozens scattered around, making each level seem much easier or unnecessarily scattered for it.? Maybe I’m focusing too much on it, but it seems like a gimmicky thing thrown in that wasn’t needed. It would nice to option this OFF; anyone know if that is the case? This small feature has become a deterrent to buy, as it has the potential to trivialize the leveling and outfitting of a party by simply granting unearned star boosts…

Re: Konami's Arcade Classics Receiving Limited Run Switch Physical Release, Pre-Orders Open This Week

@KingMike
THIS! Every time an LRG game is announced and posted on this site, I always check the comments to see all the p!$$ and m0@ning, mostly from EVIL-C (they were obviously violated/abused by an employee or something; next level time wasting that one engages in!!), that goes on.! It's truly amazing! That dude Jordan from SwitchWatch has an immense grudge against them as well (but backs Super Rare; curious, indeed.??), and while I think he's funny and find his videos entertaining, MY GOD, give it a rest! Like the majority of the mentally adjusted world population: don't like it? Don't buy it and move on!
Try it; "you" might actually enjoy free will...

Re: "Cozy Indie RPG" Bound By Blades Is Bringing Crafting And Combat To Switch

CodyDogg

@geo-shifter
YES...and by yes, I mean, I completely agree! This game looks pretty good, but what's with the "on-rails" boss fights?! A game that promotes individuality and the freedom to explore, create and customize...abandons that concept ONLY (from what I'm seeing?) for the boss fights?? I think that could be a deal-breaker for me-gotta be free in my movements!-or, at the very least, a wait-for-review approach to possible purchase.

Re: Eastward Is Getting A Physical Release, Pre-Orders Open Now

CodyDogg

@Bizzyb
Feel again! Like with Ender Lillies, Bug Fables, Inmost, Spiritfarer, Death’s Door, Ori x 2, Hyper Light Drifter, Narita Boy, Astalon, Panzer Paladin, The Touryst (waaaait for it.!), etc., I always hold out hope! I am obsessed with physical; I cannot lie!
Helps that I: don’t hate ANY of these boutique businesses (faithful US buyer, here), fully accept the (sometimes ridiculous) mark up as yet another detriment of my increasing OCD, and have a mountainous backlog to sustain the, often, inordinate wait times for reception. 4 years on from purchase, and My collection is looking GOOD! It looks so good, in fact, I might start reviewing games on YouTube just to properly display these, mostly NA, beauties.!! Don’t forget to leave a comment...ha!

Re: Disney's Upcoming Free-To-Play Switch Racer Reveals A New Playable Character

CodyDogg

@JasmineDragon
Here, here! I’ve been banging on the Sugar Rush drum for Years!! Especially ‘now’ that Disney and Nintendo aren’t exactly best friends, what better way to twist the knife than to produce a rival kart racer; imagine if it even skipped the Switch!? Imagine further if it was even half good?! Add in additional DLC Di$ney characters (we don’t race against Bruno...) and famou$ locales (eg. Soul’s ‘purgatory’ would make for an interesting Rainbow Road clone), and you’re guaranteed to move (at least) a million units.!

Re: Much Anticipated Horror RPG 'Omori' Has A Physical Edition On The Way

CodyDogg

@MostHandsieBoy
I feel you! I got that one, Narita Boy, Astalon AND Bug Fables SE (I think we're hours away from approaching ONE calendar year) all coming. My backlog sustains my waiting, but I'll echo the advice of @Qphlat27: If you want to play an 'LRG game' immediately, you'll have to double-dip! The wait times are often interminable (3 months would be considered Lightning speed), even if it's, in my opinion, ultimately worth it.

Re: At Least Someone Is Celebrating Castlevania's 35th In The Right Way

CodyDogg

@KayFiOS
Poor babe! Try 10 months (and counting) for Bug Fables: Special Edition! With Axiom Verge DUO and Narita Boi to wait on after that!!
Then again, I have a current Switch backlog of 26, and happen to LOVE LRG (one of the last few niceties of being a Yank, it seems), so I guess I’ll leave you with the Braveheart line I remind myself when I’m feeling neglected: “HOOOOOLLDD!!”
