Red Art Games and Pugware have announced they'll be releasing the action-adventure Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity on the Switch eShop next week on February 11th. The PlayStation 4 version will also receive a physical release.
The title is a 2D pixel release, previously released on platforms like Steam, and has apparently been inspired by survival-horror series such as the original Resident Evil, Dark Souls and even the psychological horror action-adventure GameCube classic, Eternal Darkness.
It's previously had a "very positive" reception. Here's a description (via Steam), along with a look:
Set in the alternative historical setting of 1897 Angelic Empire of Britannia, your contract will order you to eliminate the source of the unnatural fog enveloping the Berelai Manor.
Discover the secrets of the estate, as you look for answers among the violent inhabitants.
A strange and repelling madness took hold of the servants roaming the halls, and they will attack on sight, for their madness is one rooted in a deeper understanding of cosmic insignificance.To repel the maddening horrors, your Iaito cane, and Waltham A9 hand canon will aid you. To mend your injuries your Vitae concoctions will offer healing.
Beware, whatever unearthly events have transpired, your sanity will be tested as the truth unfolds in this hungry all-consuming Fog. First part of the Skautfold game series.

This looks fantastic. I am definitely checking it out.
I dare hope they weren't inspired by the classic RE games' save system.π Looks very promising otherwise.
Looks cool. It's always fulfilling to see pixel art games with brutal combat. It goes completely goes against the bubbly pixel art games I grew up on.
Not me, but it sounds like it'd be up my kid's alley. And of course, indie alucard is there.
Sounds kinda like a mix of Castlevania and Blasphemous.
This looks good, but I'm not really seeing the RE inspiration here outside of just exploring a mansion. It looks more reminiscent of Castlevania to me with its style and character design. I might check it out still though, it looks solid for what it is regardless of comparisons!
Looking pretty cool, will have to check out some reviews.
Bummer about the switch version not getting the physical version.
This looks pretty great from the trailer, Iβll def be picking it up at some point.
Alucard? Is that you?
Looks cool but not getting a RE or Eternal Darkness vibe at all. Hopefully it at least has puzzles where you find octagonal coins to place in octagonal recesses?
Oh look, another Souls-borne Metroid-vania game.
yawn
@Medic_Alert true. Although the game was first released in May, 2016, a year after Bloodborne, making it one of the first DS/BB inspired games, even before everyone thought it was a trend. It's a good game, with a steep learning curve, but the low price on Steam makes it a 10/10 quality/price wise, which is something I only said about Hollow Knight until now.

@russell-marlow another? The game was released in 2016, made by one person. I wouldn't consider it another, but yes, one of the first games to actually try and mimic DS/BB before everyone thought it was profitable. The game is indeed amazing when considering it was created by one developer.
Not gonna lie, I saw the article thumbnail and thought, βcheap SOTN knockoffβ but wow was I wrong. It actually looks like it holds its own and offers something different all around. Itβs now on my list!
@KnightRider666 Probably will get a Switch physical release from RAG at a later date like Sturmfront did.
@nhSnork
Ha! I actually really appreciated the save system they employedβlike ammo and health, they were privileges, not rights! A little elitist, but set me up nicely for the challenges that would transpire decades later (pretty much Day-1βd RE for βCube).
@CarlosM87 Well judging by the visuals, it definitely shows it was made by one person.
@Magician Let's hope so.
