Re: Konami Just Surprise-Launched A Brand New Action Platformer On Switch

@Mr-Glissando
“WOW! Have a job!” ...is what I would say if I worked at Nintendo (and in charge of reviving old IPs).
What, that took you ten minutes to drum out some truly innovative, substantial and fresh ideas for the series? Not too outrageous, but enough to ‘justify’ a new release (MORE everything GX would suffice for me/many!).
Bashing on ‘what Nintendo SHOULD do’ gets old (in my opinion), but ironically, it’s sensible, thoughtful ideas like this that often provide fuel for the fire!
I applaud your ideas, and perhaps one day, will reap the benefits of such progressive thinking. BioRex...we will be reunited, ONE DAY!!

HEY!! I’m not the only one who thought GoW was overrated! To me it was: grow a beard, have A child and then become super-solemn while seriously regretting past actions and decisions that defined him and the game as a whole!
How relatable; (insert God here) is just like us...RAD!! Also, his son’s not as innocent as we thought?!! Whoa, Super rad, dude.

Love Wood! Don’t care that he’s “a schill” Hawking Nintendo goods at an absurd rate. He genuinely looks like he enjoys what he promotes, and gosh darn it, people like him! He’s honest in his reviews, despite some games being First Party and/or AAA Tier (see: FH3H, XC2); he also doesn’t hide/deny his love for games on other systems. Probably have developed a bit of a man crush on him over the past 4 months, but whatever, I’m comfortable with who I am after midnight...

“I hate these so-called ‘content creators’ in general. They’re just a small step up from ‘influencers’.”

I typically agree; however, my man Wood Hawker (BeatEmUps, or something like that) does some pretty cool, Switch-based videos. He’s kinda corny, but seems like an honest, decent dude based on some of his reviews. Non-toxic, at least, especially if you’re a fan of squarespace.!

Physical in almost every instance available! Unless it’s a game I ALWAYS want with me (or is great, but unavailable physically, of course), I try to add to the collection I rarely get to show anyone (who gives half a dump, at least). And honestly, I embrace an all-digital future: it will make my GameCube-and-on Nintendo collection all the more impressive and valuable (the latter, debatable).

Re: We Won't Get A Nintendo Direct This June For E3, Says Report

Backlog at 50+; new games at a trickles pace hurts me none. WAY more important things than video games at current. Hell, I’d trade no new 2020 Nintendo Switch games for a guaranteed NFL season in a heartbeat, but that’s just selfish, backlog, football-freak talk.
Those who are furiously trying to decipher Nintendo’s strategies for Q3-Q4 2020, 2021-2024 as though they actually care about the company (and not themselves): there’s always Thousands of GREAT games you’ve never played...Out, Right Now, across P3, P4, XBox 360, 1 and Steam alone!! You can even replay those Nintendo masterpieces you’re always comparing genre also-rans with, too, don’t forget; the possibilities are numerous!

@JasmineDragon
Have taken the same approach; 50+ hours, beaten just once. My only wish is that you could unlock a 'weapons cabinet' or something to stash in the opening lobby that you can customize with, like, 4 melee, bow and shield weapons each. While I have grown to appreciate the game 'forcing' you to try new weapons, pairings and strategies with each randomized run, I just feel like an old man when it comes to the game's gear at this point: "I know what I like, now just GIVE IT TO ME!!" As mentioned above, it can be frustrating when you don't really have a choice in regularly, continuously unlocking weapons (when So. MANY. SUUUUUCK!!).
Beginning a new run, anytime I see those damned Jesus (Leonidas?) Sandals, I RAGE restart...!

Completely agreed, it’s tragic that owning a Wii U is increasingly more ‘laughable’ as each day passes. Playing King of Cards on it in December was the first time I booted it up in about a year, admittedly, but a great system with some truly memorable, unique gaming moments. And TMS, to me, epitomized that underrated theme of tye System; love, love LOVE! the Paper Mario series, but would’ve handed that confounding entry over to the Switch a thousand times sooner than (a Superior?!) SMTxFE! Same with 3D World, hell, even NES Remix I & II: let the beefy Switch audience have at both of those, I don’t care! Tokyo was my preciouuusssssss!!
Soapbox, complete.

Gotta admit, the extras added to Captain Toad stung like wasabi up the ol’ tailpipe! I had just finished it, like, a year prior to the Switch’s announcement (I’m behind playing almost every game..) too; my reaction to the Direct, in hindsight, was probably hilarious! Re-releasing a SUPERIOR Tokyo Mirage Sessions was, however, heartbreaking. It was like a secret joy of mine had been released to the masses. Selfish, but, my feelings nonetheless.

That said, gotta agree with @8itmap_k1d on a couple instances... I am loving: Cuphead, Ori, Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest 11, Tales of Vesperia, Bastion, Ys-8, Disgaea (1, 4, 5), Metro Redux, No No Kuni, A Hat in Time, New Super Luckys Tale and Digimon Cyber Sleuth (plus dozens I’m forgetting). I have also heard that others immensely enjoy Doom(s), Witcher 3, Fortnite and Skyrim (etc.), so...I guess, ultimately, a Fair Trade.?

Re: Random: Finally, You Can Play Dark Souls On Switch The Way Nature Intended

CodyDogg

@BLUESUN: Dang Shovel Knight!? Like many comments above, I have/had begrudgingly gotten used to the 'wrong way' of confirm/cancel over YEARS playing Wii/U/Switch...and then Shovel Knight comes along (Wii U, for me) and says, "No, this is they way it should be...remember, what you were complaining about all those times? We got you, my dude, it's fixed!" Playing King of Cards 4 months ago was "hilariously" retrograde in that department.

So, yeah, button mapping is in many ways a dream come true. A dream I let die around 2014... Now 'East Diamond' is (and should be) Confirm, no matter what system I'm on! Nintendo FOREVER!!

Re: Review: La-Mulana - Packed With Peerless Puzzles That Demand Dedicated Players

CodyDogg

Ah, this game! Still considered one of the hardest games I've ever played (Earthworm Jim?), and never got even close to beating it; got to that giant, Golem boss, died 20+ times, threw my arms up and yelled "Done!" It ironically brings back fond memories, even if they were maddening AF at the time. As mentioned, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone (honestly, no 'gamer' I personally know), but it's far from a 'flawed game.' I never got stuck and forced to restart the game, but I didn't make it very far myself and believe such a thing could happen having played to my quitting point. A classic worthy of adding to ANY collection, but beware: become comfortable with the reality of never beating this game despite the 'XX' hours put in OR have consistent access to a Guide (and even then...).

Ha, thanks; not at all! It’s a curious case to me, as controlling one’s hair Is just as ‘easy’ as controlling one’s skin tone, or (arguably, to some) one’s sexual preference. Persecution, historically, far less, I’m aware, but yet another interesting social double standard we all adhere to. My apologies for coming off too PC; intention was to not lose sight of possibly a great game due to the cheeky Baldo-bald guy coincidence...!
