It's often a trend in anticipated Indie games to have an eShop release and then, months later when many have cracked and bought the download, a special or limited physical edition is revealed. That won't be the case with Omori, pleasingly, as it's been confirmed that Fangamer will sell a physical edition for $34.99; pre-orders are open with shipping due to start on 17th June. Intriguingly the game still only has a 'Spring' window for the eShop, but presumably it'll get a formal release date in the coming weeks.
Having released on Steam in December the game has had an extraordinary response, with over 30,000 user reviews being 'overwhelmingly positive'. It's a game that's been intriguing since it was originally planned for 3DS, with EarthBound stylings and a 'horror RPG' approach. It seems to be one of those games with the creativity and writing to have a big impact on its players.
Explore a strange world full of colorful friends and foes. Navigate through the vibrant and the mundane in order to uncover a forgotten past. When the time comes, the path you’ve chosen will determine your fate... and perhaps the fate of others as well.
It's not too long until it'll grace the Switch; is it on your wishlist?

I think now, I will get this game, Don't get me wrong, I was going to , but this is so much better!
Yes! Depression in the palm of my hands.
@Snatcher Can't wait! 😍
I've been a fan of OMOCAT ever since they were making Zelda mini comics. I've been waiting to play Omori for literal years
Will a physical edition also be released in Europe as far as you know?
@Friendly Switch is Region Free, so you can always import! But fangamer games usually get a wider retail release after the initial shipment.
I really love that this game is getting a physical edition. But after reading the long list of trigger warnings for this game, I'm not sure I'll ever play it 😅
Always a tough decision whether to get an indie game physically or digitally when there's a large price discrepancy between the two (not that we know the eShop price yet) but I think I might import a physical copy of this one. Plus I've had some really good customer service from Fangamer in the past so happy to spend my money there.
Fangamer has this odd policy where you can't pre-order anything else when pre-ordering their physical games.
Since Baba Is You and Omori are releasing on June 14th and June 17th, I'll end up ordering both games together than, and anything else I might want.
Shipping from their US site to the UK is really expensive sadly, but I'd really like to have these games.
I'll most likely settle with the digital version only because I don't want to wait MONTHS to play it. Plus I'm pretty much done buying third parties and indies physical but then again it also comes down to pricing.. so we'll see. Yes, I'm sure this could potentially hold some good value for the physical years down the road but I'm kind of over that. Kind of. Lol.
@RupeeClock I've had luck placing two separate orders with Fangamer and then emailing their customer service to mash them both up into one shipment before. They've been super cool and just refunded the shipping cost for one of them.
Time to get my soul shattered again. It's especially fun going through the game again and catching details that only make sense after beating the game.
Ordered now time to bury my head in the sand to avoid spoilers.
"months later when many have cracked and bought the download"
If people never cracked and bought the download then it would never warrant a physical cart. eshop only titles from tiny indies is a proof of concept if nothing else.
@Qphlat27 I bought a game on Limited back in October that is still in production. I will never do this again. Giving them money, which then in turn cannot be refunded no matter what only to wait for their schedule was really dumb in hindsight.
@MostHandsieBoy I'm not sure how much you have ordered from Limited Run or other similar sights before but it's only March. And you ordered it back in October..? Dont be surprised if you don't get it until May, June, July, August. And that's if everything goes smoothly. Unless I'm trying complete a series or I'm just a fan of the franchise I don't order from them anymore. Dont get me wrong. Overall they do great work. Finally receiving the final product is amazing, but if I really want to just play the game I just buy digital or double dip depending on what it is..
If you don't mind me asking, what did you order? I'm still waiting on the physical for Zombies ate my Neighbors. They released it on the Eshop in June which is also around the time Limited Run announced they were making a physical. Just to put it in to perspective for you. And thats just for a standard copy. And yes, I just bought it digitally instead of waiting. (Thankfully)
@CharlieGirl I suggest you do! I know triggers can turn people off, and understandably so, but this game is such a once in a lifetime experience that I feel it would legitimately stick with you long after playing it. if you get too turned off by the triggers during gameplay then of course stop playing, but definitely try giving it a chance!! : )
@NikHogan Okay, this just makes me want to play the game less.
I don't care how good a game is, all that quality goes out the window for me, personally, if it triggers me in a bad way. Especially considering I have an active PTSD diagnosis.
@CharlieGirl oh ok. sorry if I sounded mean or insensitive! I didn't mean that!! : (
Definitely pre-ordering this
@Bobb I own alot of DDLC merchandise that was designed by OMOCAT. Good stuff.
see’s that it’s a M rated game whelp guess that means I’m never getting it. :’D
@Qphlat27 It was my first and last time doing it. Never again. I expected a different experience.
I ordered Axiom Verge 1 and 2. I was excited about it at first now I don't really care.
@MostHandsieBoy
I feel you! I got that one, Narita Boy, Astalon AND Bug Fables SE (I think we're hours away from approaching ONE calendar year) all coming. My backlog sustains my waiting, but I'll echo the advice of @Qphlat27: If you want to play an 'LRG game' immediately, you'll have to double-dip! The wait times are often interminable (3 months would be considered Lightning speed), even if it's, in my opinion, ultimately worth it.
@CodyDogg Worse case buy the games digitally on a different platform if it makes you feel better about wasting money double dipping. Lol. Really though.
@MostHandsieBoy the site tells you that it’s going to be a long wait when you order. It shouldn’t have come as a shocking surprise.
I find by the time I get a limited run game my excitement is gone though haha.
@itslukec I'm not mad - I am just not enjoying the experience. Like you, I kinda don't even want to play it now - or the future discounts will be so deep on the eshop it makes be feel dumb for owning the cart.
I like physical carts over drives but at the end of the day who cares really?
anyway, not mad, just the last one ever. buyer beware I say.
@MostHandsieBoy for sure. Limited Run isn’t for the person who wants everything as cheap and as quick as possible that’s for sure haha.
