A new RPG is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and this one sounds like it might be a little different.
Bound By Blades bills itself as "the first cozy boss rush game", and, you know, we honestly can't challenge them on it. Boss rushes don't tend to be the snuggly relaxing kind of game, so we're intrigued to see how developer Zeth makes it work.
There's an emphasis on crafting and combat in Bound By Blades, as you'll use the remains of bosses you've slayed to craft new and better gear. The developers promise that it'll be a "more casual experience" for fans of the boss-rush genre, with a "digital sketchbook art style" that gives everything a fairytale feel. There's even a two-player co-op mode, for those who really want to take it easy.
Bound By Blades is coming to Steam in Q4 2022, and making its way to Switch and mobile after that.

Nice. Can't wait. Definitely not enough 'let's go cut down some trees and then make some silver battle gauntlets' games around.
Anyone else hear the Octopath Traveler main theme when watching this video?
I most likely see this because I am playing Sunbreak, but I get a 2D Monster Hunter vibe from this.
As a pretty casual gamer who is looking to experience more of what the RPG meta-genre has to offer, I am definitely interested in this title. A cozy, storybook-like theme and atmosphere go a long way to make the genre much more approachable for me. Looking forward!
Oh, everything about this is beautiful.
I'm loving the uptick in developers who realize that not every cozy/wholesome game needs to be a farming sim.
I’m not digging the movement mechanics during the boss combat… s’it just me…?
Was hoping for a little more cuteness and overall better combat. But looks nice as is if not slightly cheap in the battle aspect. Def colorful

YES...and by yes, I mean, I completely agree! This game looks pretty good, but what's with the "on-rails" boss fights?! A game that promotes individuality and the freedom to explore, create and customize...abandons that concept ONLY (from what I'm seeing?) for the boss fights?? I think that could be a deal-breaker for me-gotta be free in my movements!-or, at the very least, a wait-for-review approach to possible purchase.
@CodyDogg definitely waiting for a review and sale.
