Re: 3DS System Update 9.0.0-20 Is Now Live with Home Menu Themes

Selection is a little weak right now, unless you only care about Mario, but I assume there will be much more in the future. Picked up the Zelda one for now. $2 is a decent price point. I imagine most people who do digital shopping on their 3DS have 2 bucks laying around on their account balance anyway, and it's cheap enough to entice impulse buying.

@Rin-go Not necessary I suppose, but I had 20 seconds of free time, so I decided to post my thoughts on the update. I thought that was the general purpose of the comment section. Sorry my comment personally offended you and hurt your feelings. I had honestly not considered "gosh, I wonder what Rin-go will think of this" before posting, but I will keep that in mind from now on.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Thrashes the Competition in Japan – 3DS Sales Increase

And XB1 is dead last in only its second week of launch. Looks like the baseline is going to settle under 1k, probably around 500 per week once the launch window is over.

Sony finally got around to announcing games that Japanese gamers actually care about for PS4, so I expect to see it sell great through the holidays, leaving the neck-to-neck race with the Wii U in the dust.

But yeah, the 3DS is a juggernaut.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)

Yeah, pretty much exactly what I expected. This one is for Warriors diehards over Zelda enthusiasts, but really not anyone else. Presentation issues and lack of polish are a little disappointing, but I doubt it will ruin the game for me. Content seems to be plentiful and I guess that's the most important part.

@Gerbwmu It's the biggest software drought in Nintendo's 30 year history in the video game industry. They could have padded out the summer with VC content, but in the last 18 weeks, they have released a grand total of 3 first party games on the Wii U VC: Mario Tennis: Power Tour, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, and Super Mario Kart.

Re: Yokai Watch 2 Back at Number One in Japan - Wii U Sales Remain Average, 3DS Drops

It's still possible for Hyrule Warriors to hit 150k LTD in Japan, which would be a decent starting point to do 1m worldwide. I'm expecting lower of course, but will be very pleasantly surprised if it does cross into the seven digit magic land.

For fun, here's a list of things that sold better than Japan's XB1 launch week:

  • The movie "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo"
  • Hitler memorabilia
  • John Travolta and Olivia Newton John's 2012 Christmas Album
  • Both of David Hasslehoff's autobiographies (yes, he's written two)
  • AIDS
