Fatal Frame was built on Tecmo's in house engine from DoA 5, so I'm sure development costs were relatively low. Still, it's a shame. It's a great IP that deserves to sell more than Resident Evil, in my opinion.
Wonder if that includes digital sales. I downloaded it at the midnight release and eShop crashed about 4 or 5 times in the process, presumably due to traffic.
Persona Q (and the LE XL), Phoenix Wright, and Fantasy Life for me. Definitely most excited for Persona Q, and hopefully the enhanced remakes of Etrian Odyssey 2 and Devil Survivor 2 are announced for localization soon too.
Selection is a little weak right now, unless you only care about Mario, but I assume there will be much more in the future. Picked up the Zelda one for now. $2 is a decent price point. I imagine most people who do digital shopping on their 3DS have 2 bucks laying around on their account balance anyway, and it's cheap enough to entice impulse buying.
Looking at the VC is like stepping into the Twilight Zone. It's almost all 3rd party games. Nintendo has published like 3-4 of their own games on the Wii U VC in the last 6 months.
P4 is still fresh in my mind (did a playthrough last month), but man I feel like I'm going to have to dust off P3 sometime soon just so I can fully enjoy PQ. I feel like I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff. The names of about 4 of the main cast, for example...
With those low Fatal Frame sales, I hope NoA will consider just subtitling it and throwing it on the eShop. Gotta make up the sales numbers somewhere. I don't know why Reggie hates that IP so much though.
@Rin-go Not necessary I suppose, but I had 20 seconds of free time, so I decided to post my thoughts on the update. I thought that was the general purpose of the comment section. Sorry my comment personally offended you and hurt your feelings. I had honestly not considered "gosh, I wonder what Rin-go will think of this" before posting, but I will keep that in mind from now on.
After a long, grueling 22 months for the 500 employees dedicated to the effort, the advent of FOLDERS is finally upon us. It was an arduous task, but Nintendo has done the unthinkable and implemented a UI feature that first appeared in Windows like 30 years ago. Praise be to Miyamoto.
UK charts are the world's most baffling. You have the typical Guns 'n' Sports dominance that America has, but then there's all these oddities. What are Pokemon B/W doing there lol?
Importing games is such a niche hobby that I doubt sales is the motivation. The extra few hundred units they ship in a console's lifetime really isn't worth it. Region-free importing obviously didn't save the Vita in the West, so there's no reason to believe it would help the 3DS much either.
While I think region-locking is pointless, I disagree with Mr. Ozaki's reasoning.
@Ash_Anne I played it for Vita, but yeah, the game kinda falls apart of you're not interested in the characters. The dungeon crawler style is pretty fun though, and the classes and creating your own party (literally...) is interesting. I wouldn't say it's worth $30 though. It's a good game for $20.
@SkywardLink98 Unlimited uses, but you only have access to 1 mode (regular timed battle), 5 characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu, Mega Man, Villager), and 1 stage (Battlefield). Treehouse dude really wasn't kidding when he said it was just a snack.
While FF6 is a better game, I would actually prefer a 3D remake of FF5 in this style over it. The simplicity of the story, characters, and job system appeals to me more right now.
Given the success of Bravely Default and SE's "gee whiz" attitude regarding it, I would be very surprised if this wasn't localized. Probably without the remake of FF1 though.
And XB1 is dead last in only its second week of launch. Looks like the baseline is going to settle under 1k, probably around 500 per week once the launch window is over.
Sony finally got around to announcing games that Japanese gamers actually care about for PS4, so I expect to see it sell great through the holidays, leaving the neck-to-neck race with the Wii U in the dust.
Yeah, pretty much exactly what I expected. This one is for Warriors diehards over Zelda enthusiasts, but really not anyone else. Presentation issues and lack of polish are a little disappointing, but I doubt it will ruin the game for me. Content seems to be plentiful and I guess that's the most important part.
I would rather have the Persona one than the New 3DS, to be honest.
The Smash and NES ones are up on EBGames now (Canadian Gamestop outlet), but the Persona Q one is still missing. According to reddit, EBGames will be getting the Persona Q one in very limited supply.
@Gerbwmu It's the biggest software drought in Nintendo's 30 year history in the video game industry. They could have padded out the summer with VC content, but in the last 18 weeks, they have released a grand total of 3 first party games on the Wii U VC: Mario Tennis: Power Tour, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, and Super Mario Kart.
It's still possible for Hyrule Warriors to hit 150k LTD in Japan, which would be a decent starting point to do 1m worldwide. I'm expecting lower of course, but will be very pleasantly surprised if it does cross into the seven digit magic land.
For fun, here's a list of things that sold better than Japan's XB1 launch week:
The movie "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo"
Hitler memorabilia
John Travolta and Olivia Newton John's 2012 Christmas Album
Both of David Hasslehoff's autobiographies (yes, he's written two)
That sounds cool, glad the Tekken and SoulCal guys were excited to do it. It does make me wonder what their original collaboration idea was though. What other Bamco IP would crossover well with Pokemon?
Man, I love art books and those tarot cards look cool, but $80 is a big no. Terrible price. Bravely Default came with everything there minus the case for $50, and I don't care about the case.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's Producer Gives Stories Behind Crossover Material
I think it's great that all these Japanese devs are all lovey dovey, but man that Sonic DLC for MH4 is still ugly as sin lol.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Removed Tharja From Super Smash Bros. To Avoid A Higher Age Rating
@Dipper723 The rumour suggests that the ESRB leaked the images. That's the North American ratings board.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Removed Tharja From Super Smash Bros. To Avoid A Higher Age Rating
Isn't it already rated T? Why would some bikini briefs push a game into M territory?
I call baloney.

Season pass is well worth the sticker price. This is DLC done absolutely right.

Dying to see actual gameplay of this. Very interesting concept.

So let him. You have a talented 3rd party studio that wants to work with you more, Nintendo. Don't ignore that.

Looks like NoA forgot about the VC again. If it wasn't for Capcom and Konami, we'd almost never see any Wii U VC releases anymore.

What's up with the Fairy Tail banner?
Also, LOL @ XB1 launch, though that was expected.
Re: This New Fatal Frame Trailer Highlights the GamePad's Functionality
Hopefully NoA decides to actually localize this game. They have not localized a single Fatal Frame game yet.

Haha, oh Japan. Don't ever change.
Well, this will be interesting.
Re: Rock Zombie Is Bringing Hard Rock And Side-Scrolling Combat Action To The Wii U
The comic book angle is kinda cool, but the combat seems pretty bland...
Re: September's Club Nintendo Reward Details Are Confirmed
Maybe Kirby I guess? I probably wouldn't buy it with actual money, but I never seem to have anything to spend my coins on anyway.
Re: NicoNico Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Broadcast Confirmed for 12th September
Given how it's almost certainly going to be the final build of the game, it would be kind of hard not to reveal a character or mode.

@Jazzer94 Yes, I seem to have a hat to eat.
Now I need something new to complain about.
Re: North American Club Nintendo Replenishes Its Physical Reward Stock
They aren't "still unavailable." They were stocked and sold out again hours before you posted the article.
Re: Nintendo Download: 4th September (North America)
Garbage week. NoE once again leaving Capcom et al. to support the VC alone.
Re: Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire's File Size is a Bit of a Pocket Monster
@Artwark It works. You just need to reformat it to FAT32. Using a 128gb card myself.
Re: Rising Star Games Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary With A European And North American 3DS eShop Sale
@Jazzer94 Shovel Knight is self-published, so I can't speak to it, but NoA has been awful at publishing lately.
