Decided to take the plunge and pick it up. Spent about an hour with it this afternoon and had a pretty good time. Nice little puzzle game for fans of Picross and Sudoku. Price point seems pretty fair for the amount of content included in the package. Won't stop it from getting poo-pooed for the simple fact of being a mobile port anyway. Looks like the "if it's more than $0.99, I'm not paying for it!" mentality of mobile games carries over to console ports too.
Runbow is just a fantastic couch multiplayer game. I've booted it up when I've had people over several times and there's always such a positive reaction. Everyone has a blast.
Really excited to see what you have lined up for 2017 & beyond.
Love Runbow. It's one of my favorite Wii U games. Any time I've had people over for games, I put it on if someone hasn't played it before and we always end up going for a few hours. Fantastic local multiplayer game.
Yeah, I'm OK with this. It was an inappropriate sequence and the person who wrote it should feel ashamed. Even the gross "gay cure" angle aside, drugging a drink without someone's knowledge is horrifying and criminal, and a video game targeted at teens really needs to frame it around that context.
@3792M Senri Kita is a fantastic artist who either doesn't get the amount of work she deserves or chooses to keep her output low. I'd love a Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn art book from her.
I already have the import version (Knights of Iris) and it's pretty great. The last 100 pages or so are all Japanese text though, so this will be a nice effort from Dark House.
Normally I would roll my eyes at frivolous lawsuits, but the movie company is right that Itagaki's company logo is extremely similar to their own. Maybe it wasn't a conscious design decision though and hopefully the two can come to an agreement without a big court battle.
He literally says that you can't play as a girl because Link is a hero, and so naturally, you can only play as a boy. He seems confused at the mere thought that a hero could be a girl.
Not surprised about Triforce Heroes. It's a game that nobody asked for and few people wanted.
I'm not buying it for a couple reasons, first because of the comments earlier about "you can't play as a girl because only boys can be heroes, duh" 1950s era philosophy and because of NoA's dumb meme script.
This game seems like just the right amount of Spooky for me, but my main concern is the frustrating bits you mention in the review. That's the kind of stuff that can really just ruin the atmosphere for me entirely. I like to be scared, I don't like to be frustrated.
Well, they're right on both points. A) Nothing is saving the Wii U at this point and B) Mario will translate well to mobile.
But I mean, that's just stating the obvious. Not sure what investors, shareholders, or Nintendo themselves would do with this information that isn't already in motion. But that's the kind of information that industry analysts offer for free. We like to poke fun at Pachter, but it's easy to forget that it's not his career to say dumb or obvious things about Nintendo on the internet.
So nice that Wii U and PS4 hardware are both up year over year. By the end of the year, 3DS should also be over 20 million lifetime.
And yeah, 3DS software is just massacring everything else. Only real exception is Splatoon, the Wii U game that's selling like a 3DS game. It's over 700k now including digital. It's now ahead of Smash, launch aligned, and will pass Mario Kart in a few weeks too.
Not right now, because I'm too busy playing a game about mowing down hundreds of people with a machine gun, blood and body parts flying every which way, but soon I'll do a big write up on why anybody who plays games with panties in them is immoral and disgusting and shameful.
MN9 was never redesigned visually. It just didn't match the concept art, which happens all the time in games. See my avatar to the left (Impa concept art for Hyrule Warriors).
But yeah, Comcept and Inafune have been piling on the shadiness. They outright denied the rumours of delay a few weeks ago. Then today they posted on the backer forums that they were "too busy with Red Ash" to announce the delay. A lie. They just didn't want the news out while the Red Ash kickstarter was still going. Inafune also claimed twice, once in January and again in the Red Ash pitch video, that development of MN9 had come to a close and they were moving into the promotional stage. Bold-face lies again.
Really makes you wonder with the timing of Red Ash if their intent was really to funnel money from that project into finishing MN9. Lord knows asking for money for MN9 a third time was out of the question.
Happy Home Designer is barely lower than AC4's debut, a main series entry and first on the 3DS. That's insane for a spin-off. Also a healthy bump for 3DS, probably people upgrading to the LL model for built in NFC.
And Splatoon just refuses to quit. It's outpacing Mario Kart 8 and should get a big boost in coming weeks due to Obon. It might even hit a million this year in Japan, depending on how the holidays look.
Wii U and PS4 still up year over year, which everyone should be happy about.
@BornInNorway81 It's enough. CIRCLE is one of the bigger names in budget eShop publishing. I'm sure none of their games sell 25,000 copies lifetime, but they release a dozen or so per year and none of them have high production values. I'm sure they're happy with their profit margins.
Those who have even a fleeting interest in SRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Fire Emblem should really pick this up. At $5 it's a fantastic value.
And with that, Wii U is up year over year in Japan. Splatoon has moved more hardware than Mario Kart 8. PS4 is now up YoY too. Small victories, take 'em where you can. PS3 and Vita of course way down YoY though.
Interesting about Splatoon - when you align it with Mario Kart 8 sales, Splatoon is outpacing it, and the gap is widening.
Quite a bit above all analyst predictions. Relatively speaking, a good quarter for Nintendo. Revenue, profit, and operating income are all up year over year.
By the end of the fiscal year, Mario Kart 8 will pass Super Circuit in sales and Splatoon could be as high as 2.5 million, depending on how the holidays go.
I'm still hoping for an update that adds touch control for the Gamepad. It's so weird going to tap on a show, remembering that doesn't work, then using the D-pad and buttons to do it instead.
The American patent system is in dire need of an overhaul. It's ridiculous that you can patent broad ideas without even having intention of ever bringing a product to market.
Also, the patent in question was granted to Quintal in 2008. You may recognize this as a date that is long after both the GBA and DS were released.
This is really hitting me hard. What I'm passionate about and what Mr. Iwata was passionate about were the same things. The way he interacted with his audience was incredibly endearing. This doesn't feel like a CEO of some multibillion dollar company passing away. It feels like I've lost a friend.
I'm not sure why Ubi thinks this game will do much better on PS4/XB1. Maybe on Steam, where there's an audience who might appreciate survival horror with last gen visuals.
Definitely getting Giana Sisters, as I meant to a while ago anyway and just forgot about it. Maybe EDGE and RUSH too. Puzzles are cool and you can't go wrong for a buck.
Famitsu tracking counted the SE of FE as two units, as it is two games. They recorded 353k for FE, and if you count the SE on Media Create as two, you end up with 346k.
@FX102A It's been years since I played, but wasn't it like that in Yoshi's Island too? I seem to recall endless fluttering, though you would drop a little more every time.
It's not really an issue when levels are designed around that mechanic though. No amount of fluttering will get you over a hole that the developers don't want you to get over.
Non-Nintendo, but it's being reported that Batman on PS4 outsold the XB1 version 2:1. That's pretty significant in a country where the installed bases are actually pretty close. #1 opening of the year so far, too.
The list I'm looking at puts Splatoon at #13 for single SKU though. Probably still in the top 10 for combined.
Oh, and it rose in France to become the top selling game of the week again.
@BLPs You're missing context. They said they wouldn't greenlight sequels to new AAA games if they sell sub 2mil. A last gen remaster doesn't qualify. I'm sure this sold in line with Capcom's expectations. It did about as well as the DMC HD Collection for PS3 and DMC3:SE for PS2.
Wow. I don't think you could possibly disarm my interest in game more effectively in 140 characters or less than by describing it as "Twisted Metal meets N64-era Rare."

ALttP, OoT, and WW in the top 3, all is right with the world.

$50 in US, alright, so about $165 in Canada. Noted.

Re: Those Who Buy Stella Glow Digitally Will Receive an Exclusive 3DS Theme
@crzysortagamer It's about $10-15 over what even Atlus usually charges for 3DS games.
Re: Those Who Buy Stella Glow Digitally Will Receive an Exclusive 3DS Theme
That's nice, but as it's $68 in Canadian eShop, I'll be passing on it until a sale anyway. That's just an unacceptable launch price for a 3DS game.

@Donutman Perhaps you missed that I was paraphrasing the developer's own comments: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/07/the_legend_of_zelda_tri_force_heroes_director_defends_absence_of_female_playable_characters
