We often get a sense of déjà vu when producing the weekly Nintendo Download Update for North America, as we frequently include details of more Atlus discounts. The venerated publisher and developer — much loved for bringing distinctly Japanese experiences to the West — simply can't resist offering enticing deals to lure more gamers in.
It seems that's the case once again with another one week sale. The following will be reduced until 29th September in North America on the 3DS eShop.
- Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars — $29.99
- Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan — $14.99
- Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl — $14.99
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked — $14.99
- Shin Megami Tensei IV — $19.99
- Code of Princess — $14.99
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers — $14.99
Are any of you North American 3DS owners tempted by these deals? Let us know.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip.

If only I had a 3DS.
@Dipper723
You're not alone.
I think I'll wait till Shin Megami Tensei IV is £10 in UK.
If only the eshop didn't prevent me from buying M-Rated games.
@Jazzer94 - Good choice, me too.
Atlus has the best sales on the whole Eshop! I'm hoping Conception II would drop into the 19.99 range sometime.
@Jazzer94 My favorite game on 3DS! The game is so good
Anyone played Code of Princess? How is it?
This just reminds me that SMT4 is still not released in Europe. Ah well, I'm far too busy with Hyrule Warriors and Curtain Call to get yet another game.
@The727Guy Good to know. Thank you!
Wish they liked us in the UK as much, can't see us ever getting that sort of discount.
Soul Hackers and Millennium Girl would defo be picked up at those prices.
@benjamines Have you ever played the Saturn game "Guardian Heroes" ? Its very similar, but way more shallow in terms of combat.
But overall, a really enjoyable game with very interesting characters
Its great to see these games on sale again but they should just drop the prices permanently because I swear I feel like atlus games are on sale every month lol. I wish they had a sale on the SMT4 dlc and conception 2 dlc.
@benjamines - Code of Princess is a quality game. The game music is epic and worth the pice tag on it's own.
@GARF13LD Agree, would definitely pick up one of the EO games for this price (even if they just replace the $ for €). Haven't played one of the games before, so a bit hesitant, a discount helps that.
@Einherjar Guardian Heroes is an amazing game!!! Soundtrack too.
I might jump on some of these discounts... SMT IV has had my interest for a while... Even though I've never played a game in the series.
I'm tempted to get soul hackers but I will have to wait until after I pay my bills at the end of the month to see if I can afford it
@flummerfelt Watch out though, SMT games arent everyones cup of tea. Dont expect a run off the mill JRPG. Lets say they are the equivalent to Dark Souls, something aimed more towards the hardcore enthusiasts.
@Einherjar: Guardian Heroes is also available on XBLA.
Ugh my wallet. Really tempted to get smt 4...
@Tasuki Yup, thats true, and that version is really good too. Totally forgot about that.
If devil summoner and survivor were €15 each over here I would pick them up straight away.
@Einherjar You are not wrong there. I stopped playing Lucifer's call (or Nocturne for you americans) because I got a save data corruption (lucky I was about 10-12 hours in) but I remember it just hitting you in the face with how difficult it was even early on.
You know what? F*%k Atlus.
Sincerely yours, UK & Europe.
Etrian Odyssey for $15? SMT IV for $20? Waaaant.
I may FINALLY buy Code of Princess, that game has been tempting me for quite some time
Code of princess here i come...
@benjamines avoid code of princess. Great artwork but very poor gameplay. Get SMT IV the game is super AAA quality and very deep gameplay and story.
@flummerfelt get it!! It was also my first and its just superb. Get ready for a long and challanging game.
@benjamines great game bad online. You'll put at least 30 hours into the single player campaign but the online is unplayable.
Just bought SMT IV. Been a while since I've played an Atlus game (Persona 4), so this should be fun. Great sale.
This is tempting. I have been meaning to pick up some of the Atlus titles I have missed, plus I have been craving to download more of my games as it's easier to access them. And you cannot beat these prices. The only issue is that my hours for work have been cut back significantly and the few money I have for games is already set aside for other games... I'll pick up my next pay check and see if I have any extra money for some of these now!
I already have 4 of those games which I did get on sale, but instead of more sales on the same games...how about some NEW games.
@ollietaro They might be working towards it.
Wow! Now those are sales!!! I have everyone of those though so let me know When Q goes on sale for 30$ or less and I'm there!
@Iggly
Oh I know, I trusted Nintendo enough to give them my real age and I can't even view any M rated software, ridiculous! And totally gets them less sales.
If only i had enough memory in my SD card, for Shin Megami Tensei IV.Cause my god that game is a beast at eating up your memory.
Atlus sure does know how to hold sales often. Too bad I'm not a fan of most of these games' gameplay style.
Finally I got EOU: Millennium Girl. Hopefully it doesn't suck!
My new hobby is buying Atlus games on sale and never playing them. It's just those discounts... so tempting.
By the way, anyone knows why so many sales? Are the games doing so bad?
Wallet! Nooooo! Oh, wait, you were empty anyway.
If I had a spare $20, Etrian Oddyssey would've been mine.
Assuming I have none of these titles and can only pick 1-2, which ones would you guys recommend? I play a lot of RPGs but I haven't played any games in these series.
@Kogorn733 @TruenoGT EOIV was my second favorite game last year Only to SMT IV. Untold is really good as well but is just an updated version of the original. EOIV has all the updated options plus the over world which really brought a lot to the table. Hands down get EOIV but there is a demo for both in the shop and both transfer over to the full game so check them out.
@ollietaro They have 2 coming out in the next 2 month's. Citizens of Earth and Persona Q. Beyond those who knows.
@Kogorn733 Any of the Etrian Odyssey games but me personally I pick Etrian Odyssey: The millieum girl, Perfect if you're just starting.
@lilpieri Just to some things up for you on these games. I've played everyone of them. I've spent about 500 hours on all of them total. 140 on EOIV, about 100 on Overclocked, and about 110 on SMT IV. In other words you will get your money back and then some as they will take quite some time to beat. 15 dollars is a crime and a steal for these games!
Well let's give smt 4 a shot
I picked up SMT devil survivor overclocked last time it was on sale and was not disappointed. Logged over 74 hours in one play through. It is an excellent game and well worth the $15 price tag.
If Atlus keeps doing these discounts because the games' sales are really slow in the meantime, don't they think it may be because of these frequent discounts? I'm never going to bother getting any of these games at full price since it seems another round of discounts will be just around the corner. Idk what the situation is exactly but there just seems to be a circle effect going on here.
Anyway, good to know if these week's Smash sale falls short I can give Atlus some money instead.
@Ash_Anne I played it for Vita, but yeah, the game kinda falls apart of you're not interested in the characters. The dungeon crawler style is pretty fun though, and the classes and creating your own party (literally...) is interesting. I wouldn't say it's worth $30 though. It's a good game for $20.
Maybe most of these games have been profitable already, and they're just looking to make some mo' easy profit?
If I had a 3DS I'd totally get Code Of Princess.
@TruenoGT The EO1 remake has better gameplay and more story than EO4, which came before it.
only Atlus and Capcom ever offer decent sales on 3DS but those are still worse than the sales they make in PSN
@Olaf Story yes gameplay, I don't think so. Even though it's vastly improved over the original I still think EOIV is the best in the series of the 5. He said story doesn't matter to him anyways and even though EOIV doesn't feature a story it does have one and one that has quite a few interesting twists.
Have you ever noticed they only put games on sale, and not dlc. This is rather annoying as I would like more dlc. I picked up the special points and xp bundles just to find out they were the exact same map with different monsters on them, and that just showed pure laziness to me. Due to this I am afraid the more expensive ones will be similar so I won't be snagging them until they get a reduction.
Hah, what a surprise that the discounts are only for North America. This is like the sixth or seventh discount sale for Atlus in USA and in the meanwhile in Europe we have had pretty much nothing and still don't even have SMT4 released here.
Also, Code of Princess was twice more expensive when they did a so called sale here a few weeks ago.
I have them all in physical, ltd. editions includedl!!! =)
@BensonUii Tisk tisk tisk to both of you. No reason for not having one now!
And yeah, great deals but I own most all of those games.
@DashDG Ah, they don't have those in Europe too. ATLUS hates us, see.
@SeaCocumber They're not making as much money as ATLUS hoped they would, and instead of selling more games to Europe, they're trying to sell them to the Americas.
As @Emblem said: "You know what? F*%k Atlus. Sincerely yours, UK & Europe."
Etrian Odissey IV it's € 40 ($ 50) here in Europe and SMT IV just doesn't exist!
I've never played any of these but Shin Megami Tensei IV and the Etrian Odyssey games have been on my wishlist for a while. I'm more into Fire Emblem and not so much Bravely Default, so which would do you think would be the best choice for me?
I'd probably get "Overclocked" for 15€ and SMT4 for 20€ in the European eShop.
@eviLaTtenDant Well at least SMT4 will be €20 when it's released next month. I hope they don't delay it...again.
Well, I was trying to cut my budget this month but I think I'll pick up Overclocked and the Etrian Odyssey games. I'll check to see if i can find them physical at that price first though.
Edited for: TYPOS! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!
@benjamines
It is ok... Cut Voice acting, good art, nice story, but (IMO) crappy game play mechanics. I got the download, and it might be worth 15 buck, but I would go for another title first.
Etrian Odyssey Untold?! Well, I decided to skip out on quite a few games this year to save money, and although Etrian Odyssey IV is awesome, it took me 90 hours to finish. That, and I prefer physical copies. Gah! Now I have to decide! T.T
Devil Survivor Overclocked is now for $15? That is great value! I absolutely loved that game, my favourite SMT game so far. Plus that SMT4 price! I have to buy!
@Jazzer94 Honestly doubt that will ever happen, the cheapest we've ever got Code of Princess appears to be £17... we can all dream.
@benjamines I find Code of Princess to be just 'okay'. It's repetitive, has terrible slow down on most stages and the stages are all incredibly short and linear.
Going to play Code of Princess soon......
