Neither box looks like it contains a very fun game. NA box design is a hot mess. At least the Japanese box has some balance to it.

Can't pokemon have fur yet? Surely a game that's all about how pokemon look could make them look a bit less 2008.

TBH I'm all for Nintendo exploring new ideas. They have a fantastic innovative edge, as is proven by the success of the Switch and Wii, and the boldness of the Wii-U God rest its soul. Let's see more of that in the software: we get more than enough sequels and remakes.

The 3d models are terrible. I'm tempted to give the win to NA just for having fewer of them. Without the models: it's a spooky castle versus the white void of Japanese sadness. Again, I think NA wins.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are top-down grid based games. If that's not what you like, of course that's fine. But if you don't like top-down grid based games, you don't like Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and the enthusiasm you had for a remake was misplaced.

What I want:

• Shop upgrade
• Netflix

What I'll get:

• Anti-tamper security patches
• Stability

Good.

Big budget games like the ones with loot boxes rely on a big audience. Chipping away most of the under-18 German market will make a dent in that. Enough chips like that and the loot boxes will become an uneconomic prospect.

This is just like all those terrible games on Steam where some chancer got a Unity demo, maybe swapped out a few of the assets for other free ones, and put it up for sale. Except $5 is ten times more than the Steam games cost. ***** the switch e-shop for giving this dreck a platform.

Unless you're going full retro, it's difficult to get away from a chibi-like style if you're doing a top-down grid game. You want your characters to fill the squares, you want big well defined heads cause it's top down, and it would be difficult meeting people's expectations any other way.

Console exclusivity just means less people get to enjoy good games.

Only one Switch in my house so far, but it's only me who really uses it. My son's 5th birthday will fall within the Switch's lifetime though, so I expect we'll be a two-switch-household before the end.

A colony of ants took up residence in the shielding foil of my Commodore 64. There were actual ant mazes in it.

But the C64 survived and still worked once the fly spray had dried. Those chunky old machines were built tough.

@NicolausCamp Absolutely right. I was surprised to see Bravely cited here as a positive example. It was grindy and repetitive. I got exactly 50% the way through it and then gave up.

Good. The last thing we need is another rushed buggy effort made under crunch by miserable people.

Now if they can resist the urge to make it nag me for money while I'm playing I might check it out on release.

Unstable UNSTABLE

The problem with NSO was never that its icon was too small. Wrong solution, guys.

I'm playing it now. Somehow the camera seems much much more temperamental in this game than the other one. Or is it that I need to watch the combat more carefully in order to time my attacks properly - and the camera makes that impossible? Anyway, it's a bit annoying.

What's the game then? You can't go taking liberties; I'm a respectable citizen! You'll hear from my solicitor about this!

When Ubisoft win ... pray that we never see the day.

I guess the long delay (probably COVID-inflicted at this point) is reducing demand as people give up waiting for their pre-orders and buy on another platform.

If I had one of the new consoles I would be tempted too.

Reduced demand + Expensive high capacity cartridges + Microsoft streamlining = digital only.

The "third game" model went away several generations ago — anyone seen Pokemons Grey, Z or Star?

Gens 5 and 7 had a 4-game model, which really did seem like taking the mickey.

In the Sw/Sh generation, it really does seem like they wanted to charge extra for the post-game content that used to be bundled in with the original release. Let's face it: the games were pretty threadbare without the DLC, and each DLC release added only a very short sequence of quests.

2D by a mile: 3D Zelda games are just less charming. Now let me get back to shouting at clouds.
