In Nvidia's latest earnings call, the tech giant revealed "strong demand" for the Nintendo Switch has contributed to the company's "record gaming console revenue".
“We also have record gaming console revenue on strong demand for the Nintendo Switch"
Nintendo's recent financial report revealed its hybrid system has now shifted a grand total of 68.30 million units, so it's not exactly a surprise to hear it's paying off for Nvidia - which powers the system with its chipset.
With a 'pro' model Switch rumoured to be on the way, Nvidia can probably expect even more sales success. You can read more about this in our Nintendo Switch Pro guide.

I mean I doubt people are flocking to get Shield TVs
I find it funny though that now that AMD is working on the CPU/GPU configs for the PS5/Series X they're technically in direct competition with NVIDIA even in the console space now too lmao
Just put a screen on a 3090 with some buttons and I'll be happy.
But what about the company that supplies the plastic that Nintendo uses? How are THEY doing? We need to know this, it's important.
For reasons too numerous to list here I assure you. But it IS important.
@Heavyarms55 I'm sure Foxconn is doing fantastic. I think a few more employees have probably hung themselves due to increased stress and unbearable work conditions as we speak
@N8tiveT3ch lmfao make sure to stick like 10 fans and a brick sized heat sink within the internals
That thing better levitate off the ground when the console is running at full clock speed
Forget the Switch Pro! I want the Switch Micro!
Ummmm, congratulations? A rich company is still rich.
I’m sure it was considered “risky business” at the beginning due to Wii U’s track record. I see why they’re very happy with these results.
@Santaman64 me too. Game Boy Micro is still one of the best Nintendo systems in my opinion.
That didn't help their stock much. Way undervalued.
@TheFrenchiestFry ummmm What's a Shield TV?
@Bizzyb a tv made from recycled medieval shields.
@Bizzyb It's an Nvidia set top box. It runs a custom Android build and is capable of running a limited selection of games. Most recently it's been transitioning more toward a cloud computing device. It's more expensive than most streaming sticks, but internal specs are more powerful despite limited app selection. In China, they have a partnership that allows some Nintendo games to run on the device as well... I think Mario Galaxy and NSMB were the only titles ported to it prior to the Switch being released in mainland.
@TheFrenchiestFry Foxconn supplies the silicone. My rule is to never invest in silicone because they need to constantly reinvest a large portion of their profits into developing new factories and machinery to manufacture the next gen hardware. However, they'll be doing fine regardless of any deals with Nintendo because of contracts with almost every other hardware vendor.
How's the stock price for the company that supplies the joy con stick machinery?
@RustedHero It inexplicably will rise and fall day to day, even if no trades are made. They've been asked about this, but the company has yet to officially address it.
@SwitchVogel Bwahahahaha that was perfect!
If Nvidia supplies the chips, who supplies the fish?
Sony and Microsoft should have partnered with Nvidia for their GPUs. Nvidia has superior raytracing performance and DLSS which would really benefit the next gen consoles in 4K.
@Linux7055 Where would they get their CPU? Nvidia doesn't make x86 compatible cpus. And asking AMD to make an APU with a NVIDIA GPU wouldn't really work for AMD Then they would have to go the Intel route with a seperate GPU chip. Or ditch x86 and backward compatibility to go ARM.
When Nintendo win everyone in the industry win. When Sony win they do everything they can to make everyone else fail.
@glaemay When Microsoft win they buy everything else up and hoard it.
When EA win they buy everything else up and ruin it.
When Ubisoft win ... pray that we never see the day.
@dimi Lol nvdia needing help? Nah they sat too long on their arses to improve gpu cards and they did everything they could to make amd look worse. They dont deserve sympathy from me.
@nessisonett,
Grimsby.
Well, if anything screams NVidia are all in on the Switch console, I think this is it. Next few years just got interesting
@BrintaPap Niemand de deur uit zonder Brinta.
You are right Nvidia has been resting on their laurels too long, same as Intel and allowed AMD to gain a lot of ground, which is good. they need the competition.
Nvidia pretty much used some of the extra revenue gained to buy ARM, so they can try to make inroads into the processor space. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, I have no doubt an efficient but punchy new processor are in the works for Switch and maybe Shield. If they let Nintendo and Switch use Nvidia Now aswell, that pretty much opens the Switch library right up when docked. Included in NSO or as a slight upgrade to NSO, it'll let you play new Gen games to a reasonable degree, without the £450 hardware.
What you should put Is "the Switch Pro is rumors created by media like us that need as much visits as posible"
@FargusPelagius I believe that sale isn't finalised and might not happen?
@dimi Based on what nothing. You do know the make GPU cards and chipsets so what are you reading The Onion papers?
@BrintaPap you mean AMD sat on their laurels instead. Must have been reading the Onion papers.
@SwitchForce Yeah this good bait hahah, good luck with your sarcasm man. You must have nvidia stocks
how about the company who produces the cardridges.
is there any console(not handheld) in history that sold more software?
I'm so ready for a pro. Nintendo needs to at a minimum, double or triple the ram, and add Real ssd equivalent speed storage. PS5 and Series x are going to further the developers use of the just in time "streaming" of assets style rendering.
Nintendo to not get lift behind needs this at a minimum. Even if they just doubled the cores of the CPU and GPU to keep cost down, then hop it up with RAM and a much much faster storage interface it could run next gen Games on low settings. And that would be great.
not suprising i have been a nvidia sheld guy since day 1 first there clam shell shield then the shield tablet and now the nvidia shield tv which beats all before it with sideload capabilities and pc gaming i have never used a better android and its a wonder i love the switch this much.
@Danrenfroe2016
I would go for triple ram memory lol, dont care for the price i need a powerful switch and the old nintendo commercials back "now you are playing with power" 😂
I wish Nintendo on the ball drop 2021 at 12:01 AM drop a commercial tease of the Switch pro; this in my own little world would be the perfect middle finger to COVID's branding on 2020. Plus, just like blockbuster movie timing, allow ushering in Nintendo's turn at bat after the 'next generation console' holidays (since restock is happening Black Friday).
@dimi NVDIA is buying Arm Holdings from SoftBank Group for $40 billion and so Apple will have to pay royalties to them for their computers, tablets and phones.
Considering how the Switch maintains a strong retail price, I'm sure Nvidia is making a pretty little penny on working with Nintendo on this.
And now with them buying ARM, Nintendo's other go-to chip designers, this looks like a proper intercontinental romance.
@GrandScribe wonder why Apple didn't make the move, they sure have the cash
@Lionyone even if it doesn't, the intent of what it entails, Nvidia want more control of the processor space, is there. AMD had done similar when they bought ATI (GPUs) in 2006.
@dimi I might not be remembering correctly but I believe Apple feared anti-trust problems if they did. It says a lot they would fear that issues since consolidation of corporate power hasn't been this terrible since prior to Teddy Rosevelt earning the nickname the Trust Buster.
Im still gonna keep the old thank you very much.
@The-Chosen-one that would be great!
