Most "AAA" games are so loaded with so-called "microtransactions" (of up to hundreds of dollars!! What's "micro" about that?) they feel like free-to-play games. Those games aren't worth $60. They're not worth $10. They can charge whatever they like for those games; I'm not paying.
@Nurfhurder It's been at least a decade since I bought an Activision game, so I can't do any more on that front. A lot of us can't harm them any more with our wallets, so all we've got is our mouths.
The Pokemon Company shills its new method of delivering loot box gambling to children and fans dogpile it because something something disrespecting fans something in the editing? I think the whole silly boiling lot of them can get in the sea.
The House of Lords is surprisingly on to it. Sadly the current elected government of the UK is less enlightened, and fairly unlikely to act on this recommendation, judging by past form.
I wouldn't like to draw any conclusions from this about the efficacy of democracy in the UK so I won't.
I'm so sick of the whole idea of free-to-start games. Can't we just buy games for a reasonable price and then enjoy them? If they want to get us to dip a toe in with no outlay — that's what demos are for surely?
Games are no fun when they're constantly annoying you with artificial frustrations, then nagging you to pay them to temporarily relieve said frustrations. There are so many reasonably-priced pay-once-play-forever games that I'm surprised anyone bothers wasting their time and sanity on dreck like this.
@Smashfan508 It's okay not to make games look like AAA games. Yes "retro" is a bandwagon that games hop onto in order to have a manageable budget. And yes that's fine, because I'd rather they did that than be uninspired money-nagging endless franchises like so much of the AAA market has become.

Re: Pokémon Rumble Rush Shuts Down, Just One Year Since Launch
Take heed: this is what happens with freemium mobile games. DON'T EVER GIVE THEM MONEY it will be wasted.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?
@NEStalgia you might be onto something there! Yes, here in the UK wealth is a strong indicator of whether you play video games.
Consoles and games are expensive and we don't have an Obama-legacy economy - we were still in post-recession from 2008 when Coronavirus hit.
And yes, rich Brits can be pretty unbearable. Sorry. We have institutional classism.

Re: Ubisoft's Second E3-Style Broadcast Will Take Place This September
I'm done with Ubisoft. Their games are boring and they abuse employees.

If there's one thing Dad loved more than stability, it's a two-stroke motor at full throttle.

Pics or I don't believe it.
Re: Has Nintendo's eShop Quality Control Hit A New Low With "Inappropriate" Stealth Game?
Not sure why you'd need a video games console to play this?

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Trainers Reach Special Zeraora Max Raid Battle Goal
Did we ever find out whether a trainer defeating multiple Zeraoras counted as multiple points toward the million?
Re: Pokémon Café Mix Is Now Available For Free On The Switch eShop
A cute, irritating experience that constantly nags for money? Sounds like installing a six-year-old on my phone. I'll pass thanks.
Re: EA Intends To "Double Down" On Star Wars Video Game Development
Arts, electronic or not, surely require a modicum of originality?
Re: Random: So Much For Level Scaling In Pokémon's Isle Of Armor DLC
Level scaling seemed perfect to me; but I went to Armor with a bunch of 'mons that I'd just picked up in the Wild Area.

Re: Fantasy-Action Battle Royale RPG Spellbreak Announced For Switch
@BluFloo by that logic all games where you control a character are RPGs.

RPG? You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
