Sorry folks, another game has been delayed. This time it's The Lord of the Rings: Gollum - a story-driven action-adventure game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novels.

The game was revealed for the Switch and multiple other platforms in August last year, and instead of arriving in 2021, has now been pushed back to 2022. NACON has now joined Daedalic Entertainment as a co-publisher and will take on the responsibility of distributing the game.

The two companies are also joining forces in order to ensure this upcoming release lives up to the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and additionally, to fully leverage the power of new generation consoles.

Both parties promise to "faithfully represent" this classic universe, thanks to the partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises. In the game, you'll take control of Gollum. Here's what you can expect:

"Take on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to him. Climb, leap and sneak your way past dangers or into advantageous spots. Gollum is skillful and sly, but also torn by his split personality. It is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol."
