Re: Soapbox: Why Aren't There More Books About Games?

Brady1138

Because media about other media isn't very interesting. Media about people, events, worlds, etc. those are interesting. I'd sooner watch a documentary about, say, the October Revolution than I would about making a movie. Both are interesting, but media about people is inherently more fascinating.

Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

I was collecting amiibo religiously when they first came out, but life changes (conquering depression, improving career, starting a family, etc.) put game collecting, and gaming in general, much lower on the priority list.

I think the generation it grabbed has grown up a bit, but if they can keep it going to catch on with the next generation I can see it continuing to be a staple for them. It really is the perfect little collectible line, all well made figures you can actually use in your video games.

Re: Liam Hemsworth To Replace Henry Cavill In Witcher's Netflix Series

@Octane Yeah I've been hearing that too and it makes sense. I get the impression Netflix sees Witcher more as a platform for "content" rather than story, I remember hearing they got the Witcher property just to have "their own Game of Thrones" rather than passionate creators coming to them with a story pitch. Watched the first season and it was fine, if confusing and a bit aimless. Dropped off halfway through Season 2 and started reading the books and found them way more engaging (not to mention the games, but that's a given).
