If there's a single object which instantly calls to mind the massively popular Pokémon series of video games, it's the iconic red-and-white Poké Ball.
Sure, there are more powerful and accurate balls to use in the game, but the original version is the one that everyone remembers – and it has become a symbol of the franchise, finding its way on clothing, stationary, shoes and much more besides.
So, if you've got a Pokémon-loving person in your family and you have absolutely no idea what to buy them for Christmas (and you also happen to have deep pockets), then why not consider this Poké Ball electronic replica from The Wand Company?

Described as a "highly accurate, premium quality replica", the 'Poké Ball Electronic Replica' is fashioned from metal and lights up, just like the real thing; it's even touch and proximity-sensitive, which makes cradling it in your palm all the more immersive. It comes with a display case that also lights up when opened, making it a pretty cool display piece.
And you'll need to be cool with that, because, as the instructions point out, you shouldn't actually try and throw this thing at your cat. For starters, it's pretty heavy and will probably do some serious damage (to your floor, if not your unsuspecting pet), and, although it's made of metal, we're not sure it would withstand serious impact too well.
As well as the standard 'classic' ball, you can also get other options – including the Master Ball Special Edition, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Dusk Ball, Premier Ball, Heal Ball, Cherish Ball and Friend Ball.

With a cost of £99 / $99 a piece, these aren't cheap – but we have to admit we're very impressed by the build quality, and we're sure any Poké-fanatic will love to have one on their shelf.

$ 99 for a Pokeball Replica ??
My Pokeball toy is around $ 6 - $ 7. 😏
These have been around for ages. Pretty sure the original came out before the pandemic. Guess they’re not selling too well.
Honestly I’ve seen them in places like Forbidden Planet and they do look nice but not £99 nice. For that I want it to at least open up and show me the interior of a Pokéball.
Has Anti-Matter come in here yet talking about his $7 plastic pokeball? Tell him I said that's like walking into a fancy restaurant with a hotdog he found on the ground outside and making fun of everyone dining on filet mignon.
Anyway, I have one of these. It's cool, but it would be cooler if it opened. The weight of it feels really nice, though.
The pokeball that was recalled by Burger King was pretty nice.
@Bret That's a good analogy, but it did sound a bit hostile. No need to call people out. Let Nintendolife deal with things like that.
Also, you do have one? Was it worth it? It looks pretty cool, but it's a bit pricy for me.
I have one I got it a few years ago, so these aren't new at all. it's nice but isn't really worth the price
I'm hoping they make a Love Ball one some day
I got one from GameStop and had Pokemon cards in it. Two for one deal!
If there was ever something really stupid I'd happily burn a hundred bucks on, it's probably this. Maybe one day.
@PBandSmelly Yes lol, but please ignore me, I'm being an ass for no reason.
...was I right though?
@HeroEightBit It wasn't worth it. It looks cool and feels nice in the hand, but if I hadn't recently gotten my holiday bonus at work I probably would've shied away from the cost. It doesn't do enough to be worth the price tag imo. It is REALLY hard to resist throwing it, though! If a real Pokemon got hit with that thing it'd get a nasty bump.
100 bones is a lot for a dang orb!
I have the original one of these. It's a very cool Pokéball. Very authentic. And they light up in a very awesome way. And very good quality, it's not a plastic toy. It's real aluminium.
I’ve been waiting for a version from Legends Arceus and am surprised they never made it. That should’ve been good to go on day one.
@Synecdoche Indeed they should have made wood replica PokéBalls. Like those from Arceus.
Forbidden planet had these on sale in March for £65 each grabbed a few they are gorgeous
They have Freind ball as £89 not much of a discount https://forbiddenplanet.com/catalog/toys-collectibles/props-replicas/?tag__universe=pokemon&sort=relevance&page=1
@prismt You can absolutely throw it. Dealing with the consequences afterward is your problem.
@prismt You can still use it for battle. Just toss at your opponents head it's and it's a K.O. Feel free to collect your loot from either pocket afterwards.
Ain’t virginity great?
