The first official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie is finally out. Revealed during a Nintendo Direct and also broadcast at New York Comic Con, Illumination's take on Mario has at least been revealed to the world in a short teaser.

During the trailer, we get our first look at Bowser, Mario, Toad, and Luigi, alongside a bunch of Koopas, Kamek, and Dry Bones. We also get to hear many of these characters for the first time too. Oh, and there were some very angry penguins, too.

In the Direct, CEO and founder of Illumination Christopher Meledandri said that the film's animation will be finished in a week's time and that the team is working on lighting, and other effects, with the score to be recorded in just 11 days' time. The movie's composer, Brian Tyler (whose credits include Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Crazy Rich Asians, Furious 7, and a number of Marvel films), is working "hand in hand" with legendary Mario and Nintendo composer Koji Kondo to ensure classic themes from the Mario series get the attention and love they deserve.

Meledandri also promises that we'll see more clips from the film in the run-up to the film's release. We've still got six months to go until the animated movie hits screens on 7th April 2023, so how much more can they fill our pipes up with?
