The first official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie is finally out. Revealed during a Nintendo Direct and also broadcast at New York Comic Con, Illumination's take on Mario has at least been revealed to the world in a short teaser.
During the trailer, we get our first look at Bowser, Mario, Toad, and Luigi, alongside a bunch of Koopas, Kamek, and Dry Bones. We also get to hear many of these characters for the first time too. Oh, and there were some very angry penguins, too.
In the Direct, CEO and founder of Illumination Christopher Meledandri said that the film's animation will be finished in a week's time and that the team is working on lighting, and other effects, with the score to be recorded in just 11 days' time. The movie's composer, Brian Tyler (whose credits include Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Crazy Rich Asians, Furious 7, and a number of Marvel films), is working "hand in hand" with legendary Mario and Nintendo composer Koji Kondo to ensure classic themes from the Mario series get the attention and love they deserve.
Meledandri also promises that we'll see more clips from the film in the run-up to the film's release. We've still got six months to go until the animated movie hits screens on 7th April 2023, so how much more can they fill our pipes up with?

My takeaways:
I’m obsessed!!!! This looks incredible
This is really promising, and I like how Bowser is an actual threat, with the fight scene conveying just how powerful he actually is.
I find the visuals and presentation quite fine. The voices however...meh, it will take some time to get used to, and I will need to hear more, but they are as average as I expected.
Honestly, the toad voice was the most natural, like I literally thought "Wait, isn't that supposed to be kmk??"
I can't lie I really like what I've seen so far! I'm looking forward to seeing more!
No italian or brooklyn accent
Mario sounded bored?
Everyone else seemed good in their roles.
Disappointed there was so little to this direct.
Nintendo "flash" would've been more accurate.
Never thought it was possible to feel as much physical pain as I did in the 30 seconds I watched of this. Don't know how anyone can deal with the barrage of American voices of which non fit the characters at all
Looks really good, obviously Jack Black and Keegan Michael Kay sound great as their characters, Pratt sounds like Pratt and I actually don't see anything wrong about it, sounds like the everyman, which Mario is.
Looks wayyyyy better than I thought it was gonna be
I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure I'll get used to Pratt's voice as Mario. Really loved the Bowser stuff. That was the right amount of kid friendly scary and just awesome. Glad Jack Black is doing a version of Bowser and not Bowser with Jack Black's voice
It's looking very good!
This was actually really good. I’m exited for it. Chris Pratt as Mario sounded pretty decent and ok for me. But bowser sounded amazing
Mario’s voice is utterly dire. I think he might be attempting a Brooklyn accent but the fact it’s hard to tell might say a lot.
@JoeSooper Maybe Mario is from gentrified Brooklyn.
Considering how much I've been dreading this ever since it was announced almost 7 years ago at this point, I am shocked, stunned and flabbergasted to say....I actually quite liked it.
Chris Pratt's voice coming out of that Mario's face is still one of the most jarring things I've ever seen, but everything else looks surprisingly very well done. Time will tell whether it'll have that Nintendo Seal of Quality or whether Illumination's typical meddling will interfere too much but as of right now? Cannot wait for April of next year (a sentence I never thought I would say in my life).
Jack Black's Bowser voice is so good. I also love the animation. I'm still not sold on Chris Pratt as Mario, though.
I was pleasantly surprised. Although Mario looks weird, I can deal with it… just hope Pratt puts a little oomph into the voice acting… felt a bit flat
Looks better than I expected. I'm still not sure about the voices especially Mario.
If Yoshi isn't voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'm rioting.
Still not stoked about Pratt as Mario, but I was very pleased by what I saw in the trailer.
This movie is going to make Nintendo boatloads of money. Can we get Nintendo Select titles for the Switch now ? . Many are skeptical of Pratt's voice but I'm confident the team will make it work. I'm relieved it's not the over the top Mario voice we briefly hear in some games.
It looks really good! It seems like having Nintendo and Miyamoto working so closely with them is going to make it very authentic to the games. The start gave me some Bowser's Fury vibes... also Bowser kind of sounds like he did in Mario Sunshine!
Though yeah, Mario's voice will take some getting used to, I still say he should've been done by Charles Martinet
Would be good to see who Charles Martinet might be voicing.
@JeanPaul Mario's an Italian plumber that does shrooms not an everyman lol
Apart from the somewhat unfunny penguin joke, it was decent.
@a1904 I mean the characters have often been portrayed by Americans for most of their history and Mario didn't get his Italian accent until a decade in. What kind of accent would fit Bowser or Toad since theirs don't fit either?
Pratt = no. It’s not bad. It just doesn’t sound/feel like Mario. Everything else looks/sounds good though.
I don't wanna say it's perfect quite yet but it's pretty darn close. The animation is incredible, Jack Black is brilliant as always and Chris Pratt fits the part. Why isn't it out tomorrow 🥲
@HotGoomba "Mario, get in da choppa!"
The trailer surpassed my expectations. It's looking great. And I think Mario's voice sounds fine.
"Mushroom Kingdom, here we come!"
Painfully missed opportunity for a well placed "here we go."
@NIN10DOXD Anything that means you can actually take those characters serious but ideally this shouldn't have been made in the first place
Hmm Mario looks kinda off
My kids are super excited it was great to see them so happy watching the trailer and they can’t wait for their Mum’s birthday (7th April) so we can all watch it together.
Let’s not forget they are the target audience and this movie will open Mario up to brand new audiences.
For my part, I loved it. Pratt’s voice is fine. The others were great. I love that Jack Black is in it.
@a1904 Again, so American voices can't be taken seriously? I'm confused.
Not going to lie. I didn't like the leaked image of mario but seeing him in motion is much better and I am OK with it. Jack Black as bowser is definitely the highlight for me.
Just give it the Best Motion Picture Oscar now!
…Is Wario going to make a cameo?
oh no...
Oh No...
OH NO, THE MOVIE ACTUALLY LOOKS INTERESTING
It looks good. I genuinely expected far worse.
I'm going to see it at opening.
10/10 What a fantastic trailer!
Seems like a respectable effort all around. It's a only like...2 sentences tops for every major character so hard to really judge the voices but they all seem to range from inoffensive to pretty good.
I'm interested.
Honestly, I think it looks really good! Or as good as it can when you consider we only saw like one minute of footage. And visually it looks great, ESPECIALLY considering the fact that it's an illumination production and could have gone very wrong.
I also think Mario's design really works. It's different, but when has there ever been one consistent Mario design over the last 40 years? They made him look like Mario but with much more personality and expressiveness, which he needed for a movie. And I think it's more accurate than Sonic's movie version, even the redesigned version that everyone loved. All in all, I'm very relieved.
Very promising. And it looks like those penguins are always going to get picked on.
The trailer left me smiling.
@a1904 As a fellow Brit, I think they’re fine. As @NIN10DOXD stated, they all have a precedent of having American voices. What did you expect? Tolkien-esque high fantasy with American voices is one thing, but this is completely different lol.
Mario looks kind of like a 3D render of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show Mario, not bad, but not good either. After the few seconds it grew on me somehow, unlike Ugly Sonic.
Bowser was the real deal of the trailer.
Kind of exited about this... it looks acceptable cartoonish fun.
Mario sound ok I guess... The surprise was how good Toad sounds.
What I'm really afraid of, is the possibility of a game based on the movie...
It was fine. It was unfunny but not terrible.
Not sold on any of the voices, even Bowsers (sounds a bit too forced to hide his high pitch).
Maybe it's because I've been off the juice for a few years, but I got some genuine goosebumps on my back. I'm kinda thinking they're going to nail it.
This looks really good and funny to love the bit we’re there chucking snowballs 😂
King of the koopas is Jack Black officially. 😎
I'M SO EXCITED
@Xiovanni Nintendo told them to get it right OR ELSE….
@ketrac I understand, however keep in mind that it's only a teaser trailer.
My man Chris isn’t even trying to do a voice but the rest all looked very promising
I think it looks absolutely phenomenal. I'd like to see a bit more, but for this first little teaser, I think they NAILED it. I'm bursting with excitement and will definitely be there for the premiere at my local cinema with overpriced popcorn in hand and everything.
LET'S GET HYPED!
Bowser sounds great and the animation is nice but hearing Pratt's voice coming from Mario feels wrong and dirty.
Anyone's pipes need cleaning?
Movie looks great so far. Bowser looks and sounds really good.
@Pikki bruh same. I WANTED MORE
Not sure how I feel about Chris Pratt as Mario. All I can here is Star lord when he talks. Jack black as bowser is surprisingly good. My only worry is that bowser is to over powered. There is no way that anything could beat bowser in the movie just by looking at the scene where he destroys the castle. But I may actually see this movie now. Not in theaters because I don’t want to be the only non parent above the age of 10 in there. But definitely on when it comes to Amazon prime.
ok.
it'll be fine.
Mario should have been Martinet but otherwise this looks okay.
Calling it 'The Super Mario Bros' instead of 'The Mario Bros' movie is Super Switch confirmed!
Loved the trailer.
Looks more or less like what a Super Mario movie would look, a rather straightforward adaptation.
Visuals good but not groundbreaking (though I guess nobody expected that much), hot/cold, lava/ice contrast was a nice way of showing a bit of graphical artistry; voices were fine, I like that Bowser doesn't sound too cartoonish, and Mario sounds fine. Mario and Luigi's new designs look alright. Humour was a bit overdone and kinda fell flat to me, but it wasn't terrible.
All in all, it looks like at least it will be watchable. I hope it isn't very meta because that kind of "look, this is a game joke too!" humour could get tiresome rather fast IMO. Wonder if it will get actually dramatic at some point? Also looking forward to how DK and Cranky will look like. Perhaps the main criticism would be that it is too safe... We'll see, but movie looks at least fine to me.
@JoeSooper i'm pretty sure he has a brooklyn accent, you can hear it a bit in "mushroom kingdom here we come"
Great Star Wars opening. Looked great.
I kinda liked how Chris Pratt's voice brings it back to the REAL Mario's voice. Not that new-fangled, ridiculous "Mickey Mouse" inspired voice from Martinet that all the kids love these days. Back in MY day, Mario sounded like a real Italian plumber. There's only one, true Mario and it's Captain Lou Albano.
Now, excuse me while I go yell at some clouds.
I wonder if something will happen in the movie that changes Mario's voice. Didn't hear much of it in the trailer, but it seemed pretty unimpactful, I was expecting something a bit more... identifiably Mario about it.
Anyway, great trailer, film looks a cracker, as I've been confident of from the get go. Nintendo know how to treat their stars nowadays.
Bitchin' - this looks great
@a1904
You realize Mario and Luigi are Americans right? They're plumbers from Brooklyn, New York. Of course they sound like Americans. JFC.
@HotGoomba let’s hope he’s even in the film!
But yes he’d be perfect for Yoshi.
The visuals look amazing, and I really like most of the voices, but I need to hear more of Mario. I feel like I heard a slight twinge of Mario at the end, so I’m hopeful that he will sound more like Mario in actually significant conversations, but we’ll see. Chris Pratt fits pretty well by himself anyway.
Looks fine. Sounds… ehh, yeah, not so much. Prat isn’t even trying to do Charles doing Mario.
Martinet is perfectly up to handling a full length movie role. He was Magenta in that recent Dragon Ball movie, remember?
This needs to be this movie’s Sonic moment. Give Prat someone else and put Charles in the lead part.
I think it looks good, but it doesn't sound greeaaat. I think this is the issue with having characters that largely don't have personalities in the games plus slapping well known celebrities behind the Mic.
I am so tired of hearing the same voices and personalitys in 3d movies
A little hint of Billy Crystal in Pratt's voice when he says "Mushroom Kingdom".
The animation looks nice and Jack Black does good bowser voice but I'm not convinced with Chris Pratt the normal voice really doesn't suit mario and its kinda off putting but everything else looks fine.
@NIN10DOXD Honestly I think Kevin Micheal Richardson (the voice of Kappa) would have been a dope Browser. He would have made the character sound deeply terrifying. Or heck even idris Elba. I don't know. I just always imagined Bowser would sound like something out of a child nightmare when he spoke.
Jack Black is cool but seems like mismatch to me. However I can see why they went with him.
Looked to be better than I was expecting.
@Coffeemonster I 100% agree. Martinet is the best candidate for the role!
@gcunit Tell that to Captain Falcon.
@RudeAnimat0r Yeah, sadly that's the truth. We don't have an actual indicator of what these characters would sound like since they have been for most of their lives largely devoid of personality and reduced to sound bits.
So it does sound foreign when you hear them speak now. Some feel like a mismatch regardless though.
From the beginning, I love the fact they're actually making Bowser someone to fear. He actually destroyed the entire castle!
Many spin-offs (especially the RPGs) tend to depict him as an affably evil figure, but Miyamoto always though of him as a truly menacing threat to defeat in the main games. I hope we can also see more of his better comical side, especifically all his "laughably evil" moments that the games showed many times.
But I wonder if that part with the penguins will actually be in the movie. You know teasers tend to include scenes not in the film.
As far as the protagonist's story goes... hmm. Many people suspected the movie would tell the origins of Mario and how he came into the Mushroom Kingdom, the first time he fought Bowser and rescued Peach... it seems they were right all along. Maybe that means Yoshi's Island could appear at any point in the film (if not, then Brooklyn ;P)
As expected, the animation looks exceptional. I can't be the only one who noticed Illumination started employing more contrast and detail in their films since Sing 2, right? Also good to see the faithness in the designs. Except Mario actually looks less cartoony, and speaks normally... unlike the games. Maybe some things just work better in films?
From SM64 to whatev any more games they could reference, there's simply a lot of potential here. I hope they release the full trailer in November to see even more, I'm interested
@NIN10DOXD Maybe Mario is from gentrified Brooklyn
He'll wear an ironic hat and listen to 45's on a record player while drinking a PBR.
The animation is gorgeous. Bowser is fantastic and actually villainous. I was expecting Mario to speak like normal, so I wasn’t really thrown off by that, but he’s fine. I’m more pleasantly surprised that Toad sounds fine. The voices are still different but they shouldn’t be that hard to get used to. Mario speaking normally kind of makes me nostalgic for the old Super Mario cartoons. Mario looks good and this proves how that leaked McDonald’s art just looked a little awkward. Toad’s teeth are a sight to behold. Really, I just wanted to see more!
I’m very excited that this is confirmed to be an origin story in particular. Now we’ll finally see how Mario and Luigi left New York or New Donk City and saved Peach from Bowser for the first time. That has a lot of potential for a great backstory! And clearly with Bowser targeting various kings just like Super Mario Bros. 3, evidently looking for power stars or just more powerful magic, there’s going to be more to the story than just the original game’s simple plot, as expected.
Now I’m officially hyped for this movie. Should be a great three-day-early gift for my 30th birthday next April!
Can’t wait will be a great watch from start to finish.
Now all we need pleaseeeeeeeee
Is a new Mario platform game for Switch.
Surely they must release one a long side the movie, just imagine the sales potential combined etc.
@Dragmire a cameo?
Excuse me he needs a starring role! Can you imagine a movie about Wario and Waluigi?
@Dezzy70 exactly
Strong vibe that this is going to lean into Wreck-It-Ralph territory where familiar places and things give resonance to what I expect will ultimately be an emotional story. Very optimistic.
Looks amazing, after seeing this it would be amazing to play a next gen Mario game with that much fidelity. Hey i can dream !!
Bowser: I do not need. A microphone. My voice is 🤬! POWERFUL! 🔥🔥🔥
Looks really good. They could have phoned it in and made money. Looks like kids and adults can enjoy this.
@Azuris I agree, Mario looks weird with that wide face BUT I think it's better that way for the movie. I mean, Pratt's voice is also very unusual for Mario so it makes sense to also change the design a bit.
I think it would feel worse if we had Pratt with the regular Mario design, because the association between that design and Martinets voice is too strong, and breaking that association could be even more off-putting.
Only thing I liked was the penguins and the Toad. But I get why they made Mario less... old looking(?)
Very much hate Chris Pratt.
I almost cried from happiness. This is gonna be a winner.
Trailer was hilarious. The movie might still disappoint, but at least the trailer was great. Loving Jack Black as Bowser.
@VancouverVelocityFan
6 years next March 2023 and only one new Mario 3d platform game.
Surely they must be saving a new one, with this film release.
that. was. AWESOME!
I was not expecting to be this hyped.
Not gonna lie, I liked what I saw here.
I'm still not completely sold on Chris Pratt as Mario's voice, but the rest of it looks impressive. I'm surprised they didn't show Princess Peach though; maybe they're saving her reveal for another trailer.
@Coffeemonster I said 'stars'.
Captain Falcon is a has-been, washed-up, alcoholic.
@chipia
Indeed, could serve the Movie.
Actually looks pretty sweet, I wasn't expecting much but now I'm hyped. I can't judge on how I'll like Pratt's voice from two lines though, would need to hear how he sounds in normal conversation. Bowser actually seemed menacing for a change which is great.
@Dragmire I told my kids I wouldn't at all be shocked if Wario had a cameo somehow. Maybe an end credits appearance, hinting at a sequel.
@VancouverVelocityFan …
I’m… thinking… SPIN-OFF!
And when are we gonna get the Wario boys in a Mario RPG?
Honestly, I thought the trailer was really good. A lot of people don't like Chris Pratt, but he's sounds like an everyman, just like how Mario was portrayed before 64
Looks good, I got two kids who are super excited for this movie.
@Sora181 The problem with that is that Charles Martinet's voice work for Mario has become almost as iconic as the character himself. There's whole generations which never played the earlier Mario games, and their first opinion was based on Super Mario 64.
French Bowser sounded better.
@a1904 ever been shot or stabbed? I bet that physical pain trumps what you feel from a dang video game movie trailer, jfc
Does anyone remember the old Super Mario Bros. Super Show, from like ‘93 or ‘94? Pratt sounds like that Mario.
@Dragmire I was a kid when that show first aired, but I don't remember much about it except for the live-action intro.
I enjoy the visual spectacle in this, but the "humor" leaves a lot to be desired so far. Seems to try hard to be funny without being funny at all.
Pretty Solid so far.
the only negatives that i have with it is, that i would like to hear more of Mario, and was hoping the trailer was a bit longer. out of those negatives i thought it was a pretty good trailer to show off the movie. can't wait to see more
@chipia Agreed. I hate forced humor. I didn't laugh at any of it. None of it hit for me.
Might end up just being a mildly amusing flick.
I really like what I saw of this. I do admit Pratt's voice sounds a bit odd coming out of Mario, but we've only heard a little of the VA work so far.
They really made mario sound like Chris Pratt, which was the second best case scenario so I'll take it. Also Keegan absolutely killed it with toad, watching his scenes will be a blast
@Dragmire Super Show was in 89, and on Friday it was replaced with The Legend Of Zelda. DIC Animation created Super Show, The Legend Of Zelda, The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and Captain N: The Videogame Master.
@Moviefan2k4
As much as I love Charles, I do believe casting someone else for Mario works better in a feature length movie. It's kinda hard to be a straight man in a zany comedy movie when your voice is also high pitched and zany. Chris Pratt does a good job at making Mario sound regular. He'll probably get his iconic voice at the end of the movie anyways
@Fangleman32 I don't think they're going for a comedy feel, but more of an adventure film. At least, that's the vibe I got from the trailer.
Looks like Nintendo is forcing Illumination to actually put forth the effort. I’m shocked by how good this looks!
Better than I expected, but the trailer does cement my view that this will lack humour and heart. We will see.
I almost wish you all would have gotten exactly what you wanted and we'd have to listen to a full script voiced by Martinet's Mario until our ears bled.
All the nopes. Hollywood Mario = nope. I’ve been too disappointed by too many video game movies to contain a shred of hype for this one. If you enjoy it, then yay! But this looks yucky.
I did like the penguins, I would rather see a movie that revolves around these cute little things instead.
@frogopus Kinda unfair people assume Martinet would have given a bad performance based on nothing but random lines he's done over the years. Keep in mind he's doing that funny accent because that's what Nintendo wants. Doesn't mean he can't actually give Mario a more normal sounding voice while still delivering a performance.
@Aurumonado Yoo! Isekai fans waddup!
Honestly as much as Mario and company's voices are to the games that would have been awful to listen to spout lines is dialogue for 2 hrs
@Captain-N, yes! I used to love that show since, back in the day, that was like the only non-video game related Mario media/memorabilia/merch there was.
@Moviefan2k4 … yeah, in my area of the country it used to come on at 6am on a Saturday. It had episodes based on SMB 2, 3, and World. The Mario fans of today don’t know how good they have it! There weren’t toys or anything when I was growing up. I’m old. 😂
@a1904 I just watched the 2nd Sonic movie today, this Mario movie trailer looks incredible by comparison. Both Sonic movies were beyond horrible.
@Moviefan2k4 That's what ruined the Sonic movies for me, going for comedy instead of adventure.
@Dragmire You and me, both. I was five years old when the NES first came out, and didn't play Mario until I was probably eight since my folks couldn't afford the system at launch. That said, I adore Charles Martinet's voice work for Mario, and so I'm conflicted about Chris Pratt even though I like him as an actor.
Bowser was decent. Mario as expected was a miscast. Literally sounds like Chris Pratt other roles
I was expecting garbage, but what I've seen looks okay. Hopefully it continues to be... okay... We can at least have cautious optimism now.
I'm not outright bothered by Crisp Rat but his Mario voice is easily the worst part of the trailer.
Everything else about the movie looks great. If it is even remotely good, it will be a juggernaut at the box office.
Looks good, but how is Charlie supposed to deal with little green ghouls he dislikes them!
I'm late to the party, but it looks good to me!
@westman98 i like Chris Pratt but yea I'll agree his voice is a little bit of a letdown but I guess they're gonna try to pull him away from his very outdated Italian American voice...tho I do miss new yorker Mario
Will be a fine kids movie, probably better than most. I just really can’t stand chris Pratt, can’t shake it. The fact that he’s a religious tyrant, an emotionally controlling and abusive partner in his personal life destroys any shred of likability imo. Also the voice is just basic idk. OTHERWISE it is extremely gorgeous, and I’ll prob watch it eventually
O and jack black? Fantastic. If he was the voice in-game I wouldn’t be mad about it
Jack Black is great as Bowser, but Toad is better, I knew Keegan-Michael Key would kill that role
@Moviefan2k4 There is such thing as a comedy adventure. Alot of big budget animated films are adventures with comedy bits sprinkled in. I was merely pointing out the comedy bit I've seen so far fell flat, not that the movie is 100% a comedy.
Wonderful, hopefully the story is epic.
Looks better than I expected so I'll go see it but I still don't have high expectations, just hope it's a decent popcorn flick.
I just can’t get over Mario’s voice. It really needed to have more of the Brooklyn accent, I’m sure I’ll be let down by Luigi as well. Everything else was very good tho. I’ll have to see it.
Now I'd like to hear from Chris-san my good friend and great partner for the movie. Chris-san!
Fire the trailer.
@CharlieGirl
My sentiments exactly. I just found that uncharacteristic and weird. We all have to learn to live with Pratt's rendition, but for the life of me, I don't know why Charles Martinet wasn't given the job.
@nib0 I'm not over Martinet being snubbed, and I never will be.
Everyone sounds adequately adequate. Looking forward to the movie even more now.
Also, let's hear some Anya Taylor-Joy!
@nessisonett I personally need to hear more before I give him the thumbs up or down. The lack of dialogue with Mario makes it kinda dubious what he's trying to do with his voice.
To say I'm excited is a DRASTIC UNDERSTATEMENT. I know people aren't fans of Chris in her but considering he's one of my favorite actors I'm all for it. He seems to have a Brooklyn accent. toad sounds WONDERFUL, great comic relief. And Bowser IS SO COOL AND MENACING!! I also loved Luigi. Seeing my favorite thing ever finally realized in a fully animated movie brings tears to my eyes. I've wanted this for 18 years!
My father does better voice acting.
Looks great!
Hopefully the folks reeling from the lack of falsetto, over-the-top accents get the help they need and realize their own ideas about what a Mario voice should sound like are simply terrible.
Mario either needed an Italian accent or a stereotypical over the top Brooklyn one, it's awful. I don't understand how anybody thought that was even passable.
@Aurumonado @Vivianeat and others who say this is an isekai...
Mario originally was a portal fantasy. The plumbers are from Brooklyn who somehow ended up in a warp pipe that lead to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Them being Mushroom Kingdom natives is a later iteration of the canon.
And yes, the term for the genre in general is "portal fantasy." Isekai is just the in vogue term now and it means "other/alternate world" anyway in Japanese.
If you want pre-isekai trend isekai animation, check out Escaflowne, 12 Kingdoms or Alice in Wonderland.
@Dragmire exactly that would be cool! If they did a movie though, Imagine like a cinematic opening based on the old Mario Tennis intros! That would actually be amazing!
@Dezzy70 I hope so 🤞
Looks awesome, let's hope the story is great too, and no over the top Italian accent for Mario... all good so far.
@Brett,
Totally correct, what is great for a few lines of dialogue in a video game will not translate well into a full length movie, a more normal voice for Mario is a far better option.
@Westlondonmist,
Er......... O.K, not sure a over the top stereotypical Italian accent would have helped this Movie much, but if you feel that then go with it.
@CharlieGirl,
I am sure you will get over it, and look on the bright side he has been the voice of Mario in the video games for ages now, guess the movie studio did not want to use him, as Pratt will always give the movie more desirability.
@VancouverVelocityFan
If there was ever the biggest opportunity and probably the highest film to game uptake and money opportunity, to put in the history record books this it 👾
@Aurumonado for some reason all the animation studios have some sort of their own personality speaking of the animation style and not willing to change it
This looks amazing, gave me quite some goosebums! Mario's voice doesn't sound awful either. And this was more then just a super-short teaser. Finally we have a impression.
@Crockin,
Not sure I would too much trust in those internet stories etc, Pratt is not perfect, but pretty sure he is nowhere near as bad as some are making out, a lot of these things are spun to make them way more sensational than they are in reality.
@Dezzy70 but this is Nintendo we’re talking about… we can only hope they realise
This looks spectacular really. Nice going.
@a1904,
Not sure if you are being totally serious about the physical pain, if you are you need to chill a little, I am a big Mario fan, and have grown up with the franchise, but if this movie turns out to be rubbish, which it has a chance too, than it is what it is, and it will hardly impact all that much on my life.
As for Chris voicing Mario, I am glad they have chosen to distance themselves from the over the top stereotypical high pitched I Italian accent, no way I was watching it with that for 90 minutes or so.
