Re: Review In Progress: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

There’s a few things worth mentioning:

If you have two karts, you can’t use both sets of gates to make bigger courses - it’s four gates only!

The other virtual racers can go through solid objects (as the game doesn’t register real-works objects).

The kart can go on small pile carpet, but may struggle with going up and down rug edges.

If you get hair wound around an axle, your kart may be buggered - so bye bye a hundred bucks.

People play games for different reasons: challenge, fun, distraction, entertainment, social. So choose the difficulty that matches your reason for playing.

I love easy modes, sometimes with a bit more challenge thrown in, but frustration turns me off completely

I played one game a couple of months ago where it essentially said, ‘looks like you’re a bit crap - shall we lower the difficulty?’ What a blessing!

I loved my Amiga 500. My favourites were Xenon, Garrison, and Sensible Soccer (which I played with a mate for far too many hours - we used to hunt around 2nd hand shops for the old Atari 2600 joysticks, as they were the best controllers to use, but would only last a few months). Damn good times!

Re: Review: Burnout Paradise Remastered - Thrilling Open-World Racing Tempered By Blurry Visuals And A High Price

Burnout was one of my favourite series. But Paradise missed the mark in a few key areas:

  • No split-screen multiplayer
  • No option just to race; you have to drive around looking for races
  • And with an open world, you can take wrong turns, get lost, struggle at speed to follow the map etc...

All those just ruined the fun factor for me. But if that’s your thing and you don’t mind forking out great wads of cash, then jump right in!
