Re: Review: The Forbidden Arts - Repetitive Combat Prevents This Platformer From Catching Fire

Bondi_Surfer

A four seems a bit harsh. I've not played the game, but just watched some gameplay video, and it seems to have the retro-inspired feel that the dev was going for (maybe they needed to make it 16 bit pixel-like - just joking).

I always appreciate when the devs come on to the comments - so thanks @Stingbot_Games - and I get the labour-of-love, and I'm pleased to see the pride you take in your work. I'll check it out purely because you've taken the time to comment, and because you clearly love making games!

Re: Review: Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden - A Fantastic XCOM-Style Tactical RPG From Former Hitman Developers

Not being able to spot loot or enemies is a real bummer, as I'd been looking forward to this (need some more Mario + Rabbids game-play in my life). I know the subtitle text can be increased in size for portable mode, but the rest of the text looks tiny. I might hold off on this until I pick up a PS - I'm by no means a graphics junkie, but the washed-out, blurred look is making my eyes bleed

Re: The Early Switch Lite Leak That Actually Turned Out To Be Real

Bondi_Surfer

A rumour remains a rumour until it is confirmed...

I was firmly in the camp of the Switch Mini not existing as rumoured. And even with it confirmed, I still struggle to see why Nintendo released a Lite in the form that they have - I've have switched it up, and gone with a clam-shell to protect the thing in kiddy-hands.

I'm intrigued to see what happens with the animated Switch logo, and the iconic finger-click - as it's now only relevant to half their Switch SKUs

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 27th)

Bondi_Surfer

@zool what didn’t you like about Three Houses?

I was going to get it, but then the focus on the RPG/story side put me off - I prefer more strategy, and really don’t have much time to game. The ‘small font’ comments sealed the deal, as my ageing eyes can’t handle tiny text.

I’ll be DOOMing this weekend. Have fun y’all

Re: Review: Automachef - Considerably More Complex Than Using A Microwave

Bondi_Surfer

The review seems to be labelling everything that Automachef isn't, instead of what it is ... which is a complex, management/process simulation. I'm intrigued by the game - I think a demo is probably necessary.

As for clicking the right joy-con, I'm with the reviewer on this one. In fact, any control that requires a push of either joy-con stick is rubbish - it's far too easy to do accidentally (hence my repeated crawling in Zelda when I'm trying to run away from a monster!)

Re: Horizon Chase Turbo's First-Ever DLC Brings Summer Vibes

Bondi_Surfer

Love this game, and will definitely grab the DLC. Appreciate when the devs pop in for a comment too, so thanks @JesusFabre

My one dream for the game is an in-car view, as that's how I like to race. But yeah, anyone on the fence should grab it - it's perfect for a few races on the go, which always seem to trick me into having 'just one more turn'...

Re: US Law Firm Opens "Switch Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Investigation

Bondi_Surfer

Nintendo don't just need to acknowledge this is a problem, they need to fix it, and they need to compensate anyone who is out of pocket for their poor quality/design fault. And they need to be punished to ensure it doesn't happen in the future.

I say this as a massive Nintendo fan, and as someone who hasn't had any drift issues. But corporations need to be held responsible for their mis-actions.

Re: Review: What Remains of Edith Finch - One Of The Most Unforgettable Games On Switch

Bondi_Surfer

I've only ever played one highly-rated walking simulator, and was bored senseless - can't even remember the title. So Edith Finch has less game than a regular game, and I'm guessing a less involved story than an actual novel. Sounds dull. I'll watch a bit of a play-through though, to see if there's something I'm genuinely missing.

And I know not everyone has to have the same tastes - so if you love it, then bully for you.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Exploring Production Alternatives Outside China

Bondi_Surfer

I deal with two Japanese manufacturing companies that have production based elsewhere in Asia - Thailand and Vietnam - so it's a pretty common practice. Companies have steadily been moving away from China, not just because of Trump and his tariffs, but for a myriad of reasons (increasing costs, quality issues, human rights, hedging bets etc...)

Re: Nintendo Explains How It Would Combat A Hostile Takeover

Bondi_Surfer

@RiasGremory But you can't have a contingency plan for something out of your control. There are seven banks who own almost a third of Nintendo shares between them. If they all decide to sell (along with plenty of minority shareholders), there’s nothing Nintendo can do.

I doubt it’ll happen, but saying you have a contingency plan is garbage.

Re: More Evidence Of Rumoured Switch Mini Surfaces Via Accessory Maker Bigben

Bondi_Surfer

A Switch Mini as pictured still makes no sense. But I guess there's more clicks to be earned.

If you were to make a non-detachable-joy-con version (i.e. a non-switch Switch), the screen can't go smaller, so you'd go clam-shell to minimise its footprint, and have the bonus of protecting the screen for little kiddies and the clumsy amongst us.

And I have to remember to stop clicking on these non-stories...
