Re: Review: Terminator 2D: NO FATE (Switch) - A Simplistic Yet Fascinating 16-Bit Love Letter

@YANDMAN 100% agreed on your entire comment. I have also played through several times and will continue to go back and improve my skill. The music and arrangements are just incredible and everything else feels just right in line with a MD game from the mid 1990s, only heavily polished. Beautifully done pixel art, controls feel great and accurate to a retro game, which is probably the most important thing they’ve achieved. It FEELS like a retro arcade shooter. Has an Aliens 3 feel, along with a little Contra, Rolling Thunder, etc. looking forward to going back to it. I’ve probably played about 7-8 hours, and it will be joining other coveted games on my “replay every year or two” list.

Re: Poll: Is Your Third-Party Switch 2 Dock Still Working After This Week's System Update?

Blast16

I don’t yet own Switch 2, but I am watching the launch of Switch 2 closely and understand why so many have opted for a cheaper dock. Price gouging from the manufacturer.

Admittedly, I don’t ever take chances on any of my hardware whether it be video gaming or musical instruments, etc., but this stuff has truly become luxury items. They always were, but now we’re really paying out for it.

As a long-time Nintendo and home console buyer, I’m having pause for the first time since the mid ‘90s buying the newest hardware without question, interrupting a 30+ year ritual of “I’ll get it up front and be happy later.” I’m not sure I like the direction of Switch 2 just yet, and Nintendo’s not doing many favors for their image, respectfully—in my opinion, of course.

In closing, despite my own personal concerns for Switch 2 and Nintendo as a company at present, you never buy a third party accessory so early, hehe. You’re all very brave! ✌️😃

@anoyonmus excellent. For some reason that excites me much more than SH2, though they’re both awesome.

The thing I’m always drawn to in SH1 is the way the game quickly disorients you and creates that sense of dread. I wonder how the remake will turn out. How could they achieve this on modern hardware? I’m talking specifically about the intro alley camera angles and what happens thereafter. It’s classic PS1 jank and limitations that are forever burned into my mind. Not sure anything can take its place or hold up to that. For me.

@topsekret I want some crunchy Konami bacon strips!

Good points regarding the things I forgot above

I have the original PS2 copy and will likely get the PS5 version of SH2R on deep sale one day. I was able to buy the RE remake disc copies for $20-30 each so there’s no way I’m paying full price on SH2. I’ve heard it’s very good but I certainly didn’t think the RE4R was better than the original. Played them back to back, and felt the remake was good but missing some magic. Maybe I’ll have to go back to it later this fall. It’s a fantastic November game for me.

@ShadLink that bullet-pointed bit is a fair point. I guess it depends on whether one is more interested in the old games or their remakes, but more options for these games are better. Case in point I have RE4-5-6 collection but it would have been nice to have the remakes and playable versions of 7-8 on S1.

I think I read SH1 is getting the remake treatment so that could also be really good. Would be interesting to see how it’s adapted since it’s significantly more old school than SH2 which I’d argue still is very playable today, more so than SH1.

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Reveals Another SEGA Villain For Upcoming DLC

@SegaDude113 It could be, but do slightly modified animations add that much data? If the audio is not compressed, then maybe, but why so much being added that wasn't already there? It still doesn't sound like this game was finished and ready to go on Switch for release day. I've got plenty to play, so I can circle back 👍

Re: Beat 'Em Up Classic Double Dragon Gets A Modern Revival On Switch This October

Blast16

I didn’t like the look of DD Gaiden before I played and I loved that one, got tons of playtime, hold one of the records and just ended up having a blast with it. I also was able to play online with a buddy from another part of the country! I’ll give Revival a whirl and see how it goes.

All I want is fun gameplay and good sound. And an arcade mode.

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 9 And Vol. 10 For Switch

@MontyCircus I pre-ordered volumes 9 and 10 for $39.99 USD each a day ago on play-asia. I used the Physical Paradise discount code “JORDAN2025” and it ships to my door for $84.

VGP and PNP are $43.50 and $43.99, respectively, but buying both volumes will qualify you for free shipping. Think my carts showed $87.99 and $86.99. I saved money with PA 😃

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 9 And Vol. 10 For Switch

Very happy volumes 9 and 10 are coming before the year is up, with Magician Lord and Metal Slug 3!

I still would like at least one more volume with Robo Army, Eight Man, and honestly, whatever is left that they have converted. I think I read that 108 NEOGEO games have been released on Switch ACA. Been enjoying volumes 1-6 and discovering a bunch of games that I would have passed over if we’d gotten standard collections. Usually this mish-mash of games would bother me, but somehow it doesn’t. I never got into SNK fighters or even knew about shmups besides Last Resort, but Blazing Star is awesome as are many of the fighting games. Been having too much fun!

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Sells 1 Million Copies

@ArcadianLegend99 I’d be down for a SEGA arcade series. Make collections including action, puzzle, fighting, brawlers, sports, shmups, etc. I’m loving my ACA NEOGEO Selection volumes 1-6 lately.

I’m probably alone on this, but I want this from Konami too. Put them on a cart and use the Hamster arcade ports in a wrapper, and I’m there. I’d snatch them all up. Sort of reminds me of the Japan only PS2 collections I never got to have in the West.
