@YANDMAN 100% agreed on your entire comment. I have also played through several times and will continue to go back and improve my skill. The music and arrangements are just incredible and everything else feels just right in line with a MD game from the mid 1990s, only heavily polished. Beautifully done pixel art, controls feel great and accurate to a retro game, which is probably the most important thing they’ve achieved. It FEELS like a retro arcade shooter. Has an Aliens 3 feel, along with a little Contra, Rolling Thunder, etc. looking forward to going back to it. I’ve probably played about 7-8 hours, and it will be joining other coveted games on my “replay every year or two” list.
Getting excited for this one! But no way am I spoiling it for myself! Going to snatch a physical copy and wait until March to find out what’s in store 😎
I don’t yet own Switch 2, but I am watching the launch of Switch 2 closely and understand why so many have opted for a cheaper dock. Price gouging from the manufacturer.
Admittedly, I don’t ever take chances on any of my hardware whether it be video gaming or musical instruments, etc., but this stuff has truly become luxury items. They always were, but now we’re really paying out for it.
As a long-time Nintendo and home console buyer, I’m having pause for the first time since the mid ‘90s buying the newest hardware without question, interrupting a 30+ year ritual of “I’ll get it up front and be happy later.” I’m not sure I like the direction of Switch 2 just yet, and Nintendo’s not doing many favors for their image, respectfully—in my opinion, of course.
In closing, despite my own personal concerns for Switch 2 and Nintendo as a company at present, you never buy a third party accessory so early, hehe. You’re all very brave! ✌️😃
@ArmenianJedi13 so they can explain everything step by step like we’ve never heard of Nintendo or video games, lol. Their gameplay demos are so boring. I’ve stopped tuning in to those.
@dazzleshell thank you, that is a good idea, but I tend to be sentimental with my gaming hardware so I’ll likely keep my switch and save for switch 2. I’m looking forward to the exclusive switch 2 library of games, so for now I’m going to begin putting a little money aside and play wait and see ✌️
@Turbotendo I don’t have PSVR2, so I’ll be stuck with a flat screen base PS5 experience for RE9. I never got to try my brother-in-law’s VR1 for RE7, but that would’ve been really cool. Currently on Switch 1, not sold yet on Switch 2.
That was so bad it wasn’t even accidental ASMR. As an ad it looks uninspired and unfinished, like someone hired the actor because a budget was approved and just showed up and winged it. That did not need to be longer than 30 seconds, lol, and I’m definitely not any more hyped for Pokémon.
The controllers look decent though I’ve never used any TB accessories.
That Mario case… I like the idea of it keeping with ‘80s and ‘90s art style but it looks sloppy in a bad way, like someone traced over the artist’s work or something.
@anoyonmus excellent. For some reason that excites me much more than SH2, though they’re both awesome.
The thing I’m always drawn to in SH1 is the way the game quickly disorients you and creates that sense of dread. I wonder how the remake will turn out. How could they achieve this on modern hardware? I’m talking specifically about the intro alley camera angles and what happens thereafter. It’s classic PS1 jank and limitations that are forever burned into my mind. Not sure anything can take its place or hold up to that. For me.
@topsekret I want some crunchy Konami bacon strips!
Good points regarding the things I forgot above
I have the original PS2 copy and will likely get the PS5 version of SH2R on deep sale one day. I was able to buy the RE remake disc copies for $20-30 each so there’s no way I’m paying full price on SH2. I’ve heard it’s very good but I certainly didn’t think the RE4R was better than the original. Played them back to back, and felt the remake was good but missing some magic. Maybe I’ll have to go back to it later this fall. It’s a fantastic November game for me.
@ShadLink that bullet-pointed bit is a fair point. I guess it depends on whether one is more interested in the old games or their remakes, but more options for these games are better. Case in point I have RE4-5-6 collection but it would have been nice to have the remakes and playable versions of 7-8 on S1.
I think I read SH1 is getting the remake treatment so that could also be really good. Would be interesting to see how it’s adapted since it’s significantly more old school than SH2 which I’d argue still is very playable today, more so than SH1.
@SegaDude113 It could be, but do slightly modified animations add that much data? If the audio is not compressed, then maybe, but why so much being added that wasn't already there? It still doesn't sound like this game was finished and ready to go on Switch for release day. I've got plenty to play, so I can circle back 👍
I didn’t like the look of DD Gaiden before I played and I loved that one, got tons of playtime, hold one of the records and just ended up having a blast with it. I also was able to play online with a buddy from another part of the country! I’ll give Revival a whirl and see how it goes.
All I want is fun gameplay and good sound. And an arcade mode.
LRG releasing a v1 physical for games is lame. Glad I just decided to hold off. Hopefully there will be a complete S1 copy down the road with zero downloads.
These look amazing, but I’ve got my LRG copies for all three, and own original carts for all games on the first collection and some for the advance collection, so I’m good.
These updated editions by Super Deluxe look lovingly crafted and a great value, so it’s very tempting, but I’ve got other games I want to pick up and add to my library.
@MontyCircus I pre-ordered volumes 9 and 10 for $39.99 USD each a day ago on play-asia. I used the Physical Paradise discount code “JORDAN2025” and it ships to my door for $84.
VGP and PNP are $43.50 and $43.99, respectively, but buying both volumes will qualify you for free shipping. Think my carts showed $87.99 and $86.99. I saved money with PA 😃
@Darthmoogle we were both expecting this, lol. Would be nice to have the whole game if we’re waiting and spending (more) on physical. Shredder’s Revenge Syndrome!!!
Very happy volumes 9 and 10 are coming before the year is up, with Magician Lord and Metal Slug 3!
I still would like at least one more volume with Robo Army, Eight Man, and honestly, whatever is left that they have converted. I think I read that 108 NEOGEO games have been released on Switch ACA. Been enjoying volumes 1-6 and discovering a bunch of games that I would have passed over if we’d gotten standard collections. Usually this mish-mash of games would bother me, but somehow it doesn’t. I never got into SNK fighters or even knew about shmups besides Last Resort, but Blazing Star is awesome as are many of the fighting games. Been having too much fun!
@MTMike87 I agree! I have some of these nostalgic “memory” games too (plenty, in fact across many consoles) but I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone who didn’t have them as a kid.
@ArcadianLegend99 I’d be down for a SEGA arcade series. Make collections including action, puzzle, fighting, brawlers, sports, shmups, etc. I’m loving my ACA NEOGEO Selection volumes 1-6 lately.
I’m probably alone on this, but I want this from Konami too. Put them on a cart and use the Hamster arcade ports in a wrapper, and I’m there. I’d snatch them all up. Sort of reminds me of the Japan only PS2 collections I never got to have in the West.

Hoping this fixed build is on the cart due out in March. I’m very excited to play this one!
Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Updated To Version 1.3.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
@Glassneedles ah, it’s been a while since I ran my Wii discs on the Wii U. I had forgotten they always run in SD. Thanks for the reminder!
Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Updated To Version 1.3.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Unless the update is a lower price I’m good 🙂 Actually, I’ve got them on Wii which play on my Wii U in HD so I’m good. But they are expensive.
Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Updates Planned For Switch Platforms
Fix it up nice nice, put it complete on a cart and I will buy for $30-35 😃 I really enjoyed this one. Probably my favorite Tomb Raider game.
If not, that’s okay. I’ll stick with my 360 and PS4 disc copies.

Re: Video: Check Out Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Improvements In This Side-By-Side Comparison
@Elektrogeist1287 wow, good to know. Was this on S1 or S2? I have S1 and am wanting to give them a go again someday but in no rush.
Re: Video: Check Out Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Improvements In This Side-By-Side Comparison
@Flashlink99 thanks for the reply! If I can find a discount on S2 I might bite. I missed the cyber Monday sale…
Re: Switch 2's Mario Kart World Bundle Gets A Surprise Sale (US)
Missed it. They’re gone.
Re: Video: Check Out Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Improvements In This Side-By-Side Comparison
Just bought RDR physical on BF for $17 lol. Nice to know it’s a free S2 upgrade.
Next move is to finally put the other GTA games on S1/2.
How did the GTA trilogy turn out? Is it still ***** on Switch?
Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion's Opening Movie Is Packed With '90s Nostalgia

Anyone else do that still?
Re: Review: Blippo+ (Switch) - An Uncanny Channel-Surfing Sim That Perfectly Captures '90s TV
I’ll check it out. I’m on a games hiatus so this might just hit the spot.

@Res462 as a customer with a Switch 1, I’d love to be incentivized enough to want the Switch 2. For the money, it’s not worth it yet.

@Teksette agree. I’ll be on PS5 for Requiem, eventually.

Interesting. I may have to buy a few of these as they’ll likely be the only hard copy releases. 😅

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Reveals Another SEGA Villain For Upcoming DLC
@Pillowpants that, plus a 4.1GB patch for a 2D game. So glad I held off. And now DLC.
As mentioned by someone else, the mystery of game unlocks and the excitement of discovery is mostly a thing of the past, sadly.
At this point, I think I’ll also be awaiting a complete game before considering playing.

MKW launched just a few months ago and is very clearly following a service model. It was incomplete and $80+. I miss the Iwata days of Nintendo.
