Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 9 And Vol. 10 For Switch

@MontyCircus I pre-ordered volumes 9 and 10 for $39.99 USD each a day ago on play-asia. I used the Physical Paradise discount code “JORDAN2025” and it ships to my door for $84.

VGP and PNP are $43.50 and $43.99, respectively, but buying both volumes will qualify you for free shipping. Think my carts showed $87.99 and $86.99. I saved money with PA 😃

Very happy volumes 9 and 10 are coming before the year is up, with Magician Lord and Metal Slug 3!

I still would like at least one more volume with Robo Army, Eight Man, and honestly, whatever is left that they have converted. I think I read that 108 NEOGEO games have been released on Switch ACA. Been enjoying volumes 1-6 and discovering a bunch of games that I would have passed over if we’d gotten standard collections. Usually this mish-mash of games would bother me, but somehow it doesn’t. I never got into SNK fighters or even knew about shmups besides Last Resort, but Blazing Star is awesome as are many of the fighting games. Been having too much fun!

@ArcadianLegend99 I’d be down for a SEGA arcade series. Make collections including action, puzzle, fighting, brawlers, sports, shmups, etc. I’m loving my ACA NEOGEO Selection volumes 1-6 lately.

I’m probably alone on this, but I want this from Konami too. Put them on a cart and use the Hamster arcade ports in a wrapper, and I’m there. I’d snatch them all up. Sort of reminds me of the Japan only PS2 collections I never got to have in the West.

Re: Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition Brings Match-3 RPG Fun To Switch This Month

@Daggot I've never played PQ before today, but I read online in a forum that it had a bit of input delay. FPS was fine, but the game just felt laggy, for lack of a better description.

When I played the Switch demo, I did notice just a little bit, but it's not an action title or a platformer, so it doesn't hinder anything in the gameplay, but to me it was noticeable. I'm likely going to get it either way, but I'm hoping the new Immortal Edition fixes that.

@Zeebor15 I mean, it pretty much was a straight answer, although they didn't type it.

Numbered title: take your chances on VGP or pre-order for a guaranteed copy of the game.

Distribution/not numbered: get via Amazon, VGP, etc.

Also, some of these have regional multi-language copies you can order from play-asia.

As mentioned above, I do miss the days when LRG waited for game patches before manufacturing and shipping. I don't have to play the newest games until next year, but I also don't really want to rent a copy at full price (digital).

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Resolution Update On Switch

@timtimtim wow, that download amount is utter bs!! I’m really glad I’m waiting on this one. I should cancel my copy of NG. We’ve had it too good with the likes of Inti Creates and other independent developers, and even some excellent retro collections by a number of publishers.

There should be a window of 6 months so this gross “release then fix” crap can be worked out for a definitive hard copy of a game. That’s how LRG used to (mostly) be and they need to stop taking the piss a bit.

4.1 GB download for this game with game card… 😰

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Resolution Update On Switch

@Zeebor15 I’m in the same spot. Early preorders got blocked in May, other sites had a Japan version with a “download code” notice in the box art. I discovered VGP only this year somehow and anticipate the game going there, being cheaper than LRG (LRG raised shipping costs earlier this year.) and being shipped to me sooner than LRG would.

Reached out to LRG, and if it’s a numbered release they didn’t have an answer of if it will go to a place like VGP, but looks like all distribution titles are available through Amazon. I don’t usually mind the wait from them but the shipping and taxes for one $35-40 game add over $10 now for a single game order (so more like $45-50 per game). I’ve been buying without issues from them for years, but I’m out…

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 7 And Vol. 8 For Switch

@Cipher36 Thanks! I actually was on the eshop last night snooping around and saw these. I'm going to buy physical I think, but for the ones that never get one I'll stick to the eshop sales. I've updated the wishlist so I'll know when they're on sale going forward. Appreciate the update!

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 7 And Vol. 8 For Switch

Blast16

@Cipher36 Gah, good to know! I guess I always hoped they’d get a physical so I never put them on my wishlist for whatever reason. But I’ve started doing that with more and more games and also setup a deku account to help me choose what to get and when. Also begun forming wishlists on play-asia, VGP and PNP for the more niche releases, and to price compare.

In closing, I fully agree with you—buy them digital and physical because NEO GEO!!

Re: Review: Chillin' By The Fire (Switch 2) - Novel Camera Integration, But Won't Set Your World Alight

Blast16

@HammerKirby totally agree, but I should have added that it sounds like a lot of devs are waiting on kits and third party games seem like they’re coming months later from release date, which as far as I know is atypical during a Nintendo console launch, going back to the early ‘90s. Maybe with exception of N64. Did I miss anything? I do remember PS4 being a bit barren for a couple years, too — so I’ve seen it with other companies too ✌️

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 7 And Vol. 8 For Switch

As a matter of habit, expect volumes 9 &10 to be announced on 6 November when these volumes drop. I’m still waiting on Metal Slug 3 and Magician Lord!

Someone on Reddit guesses there are about 11 volumes worth of these as there are 108 NG games available on the eShop.

For anyone wondering, if you buy from play-asia, the Asian version of each compilation has English cover art.

Hopefully SNK will release the collections everyone wants, but I’m guessing this is it for Switch. I don’t often buy ROM collections, but these are just too cool.

For anyone annoyed about the cost, I’m with you, and then I looked closer. Each game on the eShop is $7.99, and they don’t really go on sale. On these compilations, you get each game for roughly $4.19 (USD) so it’s like half the price to pick them up this way. That, for me, is huge value! As always, YMMV 👍

Re: Forget Silksong, This New Terminator 2D Overview Trailer Looks Stupidly Good

Blast16

@Joekun I’ve observed a lot of other physical copies of games costing 2x the eshop price.

I don’t know anything about how licensing works, but I think there’s a different license for the digital vs the physical copy releases, so maybe that comes into play here.

I would certainly love a $40 or under price tag on this one, though! ✌️😃
