Re: Poll: As "Gaming Disorder" Becomes A Thing, Is It Time To Assess How Much You Play?

Battista

Ironically I don’t spend a lot of time playing video games themselves. But I find myself spending way too much time on websites and message boards talking and thinking about them.

Maybe if I spent more time playing games with people as a social thing like I desire to it would actually be more healthy.

That being said, I definitely had a balance problem with smash 4 and i want to be very careful I don’t make the same mistake with ultimate.

Re: Race For The Highest Score In Mario Kart Monopoly

@SmaggTheSmug As someone who collected a bunch of different monopoly boards but had a hard time finishing a game, the “gamer” variant does a better job at both simplifying and making things faster, and the individual character powers is a great introduction to more strategic games out there.

Hoping for more than just Mario themes in the future though.

There was a campy charm to the Rugrats: Scavenger Hunt game on the N64. I get the same vibe from Search for Reptar on the PS1 though I’ve never played it. And of course there’s TamashiiHiroka’s review of the Totally Angelica game on the GBC.

It seems to be rereleases instead of new games, which is a bit unfortunate. Avatar could use a quality fighting game set in its universe.

So many Christmas gift games

I got the n64 in 96 (I think) with Super Mario 64 and Wave Race but my favorite was Wheel of Fortune that year.

Mario Kart 64 was a later Christmas gift since I had to pick at first and chose Diddy Kong Racing when it came out. I still have both those cartridges - so many memories especially with MK.

In 2001 I got the GameCube with Luigi’s Mansion and Madden 2002. I remember bugging my dad to see if Blockbuster was open Christmas Day (I was kinda stupid) so I could rent the game I wanted most of all - only to find that my last gift was in fact Super Smash Bros Melee which I proceeded to play all day.

Re: ARMS Version 5.0 Is The Last Content Update The Game Will Recieve

Battista

I have to wonder along with SLIGEACH if sales have anything to do with it. And it makes the upcoming announcement of smash 5 (or smash 4 Switch) seem a lot more likely this year.

They tried to expand into a new IP in the fighting game community and unfortunately it seems to have backfired. Pokken Tournament DX doesn’t look like it’s filling the void either and I don’t know of any update plans for that game. So maybe they’re scrapping potential future plans with arms and going straight to smash. Give the people what they want.

Kind of a shame though considering this Dr. Villain character looked kind of intriguing and maybe we’d get more of a story to tie all these characters together.

Re: Review: Brawlout (Switch eShop)

I don’t think a Smash Bros style game with OCs is impossible to pull off, but said roster of OCs has to be exceptional, like overwatch’s for example even though it’s an entirely different game.

Re: Take A Look At The Awesome NES Splatoon We Never Got To Play

Battista

Actually now this kind of makes me wonder if there’s a market out there for a “faux retro console”. The games would probably be pretty easy to produce now and place on an “App Store” for people to download, and it could be a low cost alternative to the HD systems that are getting more and more expensive.

Re: Rumour Buster: The Nintendo 64 Classic Mini Game List 'Leak' is a Batch of Old PDF Files

Battista

I still think an N64 mini could work. Even though Goldeneye (and probably all the other Rare games) would be noticeably missng, it would still have Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Smash Bros and Mario Kart 64. That's more than enough to peak peoples' interests.

I also came up with the controversial idea of this mini system using Gamecube controllers. As much as I love the 64 trident, it was never iconic in the same way that the NES and SNES controllers were. A GC controller has a better thumbtack and has stood the test of time thanks to the smash community. They're gonna need other ways to sell them beyond their inevitable inclusion in Smash Switch.

Also playing N64 games on the Wii Virtual Console with Gamecube controllers is pure bliss.

Re: Review: Monster Jam: Crush It! (Switch)

Battista

Preferred excite truck because you could use your own music. Bought excitebots for poker race and it wasn’t what I expected it to be. I’m with the majority here though: let’s get an HD game in this series

Not getting this but I did get Monster Truck Madness for the N64 recently. Haven’t gotten a chance to play it yet but it looks campy

Re: Nintendo Is Resurrecting The NES Classic Mini And Increasing SNES Classic Inventory

Battista

Glad to see this. I want to keep supporting Nintendo but not really sure the switch is for me. This way I can potentially do both

Hopefully Nintendo sees how much of a moneymaker this is and that a lot of people just want to relive the retro glory days rather than spend a ton of money on a new system and games. I'd like there to be a market for both demographics rather than just one or the other.
