• sound effect muting. I want to be able to disable the repetitive jumping sound for example,
• palette swapping. Let us play levels in all kinds of filters like monochrome, neon etc.
• simple music configuration. Give us the ability to play music at half speed, distorted or different styles,
• Completion direction: have the finish (flag) on the left, or on top or at the bottom.

How is this company still afloat?

I mean, isn't the game industry always painted as extremely competitive, risky and unhealthily hard to survive in.

Yet this guy releases pretty niche games in the scoring brackets of 5 to 8, with common heavy discounts in the 60 to 80 percentiles a couple of months after release.

Something doesn't add up.

@TommyTendo I also wonder this when it comes to Nintendo and the UK. It's not as bad but British people really try their best to emulate americans in their gaming preferences.

Sometimes a game selling well is just luck because of right timing. Lots of factors can't be calculated when launching a product.

However, Monkey Ball also did quite a few things very right like the character design, unique gameplay, superb accessibility and control, etc.

I didn't care for this game, but it's remembered fondly by many for good reasons.

It's been succesful for 26 months...and just now they're coming with a 8 year old port. Business sense is hard to teach apparently.

There's a good interview with Naghoshi in EDGE magazine somewhere last year. He talks about how Nintendo wanted to see the source code for F-zero GX because they were so impressed by the technical feat the SEGA team pulled off!

Production values come second. On a surface level Sony's games all look amazing. Then I play them and it feels stuck in the 90's.
