The European physical release of Switch indie hit Hollow Knight has been delayed, Fangamer has confirmed. The North American release is still launching as expected.
The news comes from Fangamer's official Twitter account, which notes that both the physical release of the game in Europe and the worldwide physical release for PS4 have been delayed from the original 31st May date to 28th June.
Fangamer notes that you can contact them at '[email protected]' if you have any questions, or that you should go directly to your store of choice if you ordered elsewhere.
If you're still yet to pre-order your own copy, you can do so right here. All physical editions include a manual and fold-out map of Hallownest, and the collector's edition also comes with the following:
- Metal brooch with display stand, wall hook, and dual-pronged fastener
- 14-page Quirrel comic book
- Gift-box-style case with gold-foil filigree and a clear printed sleeve
- Gold-foil art print set by Ari Gibson
- Physical copy of the game on your choice of platform including all DLC: Hidden Dreams, The Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, and Godmaster.
- Nintendo Switch copies of the Collector’s Edition include a bonus cleaning cloth
Has the delay impacted you at all? Are you still looking forward to getting your hands on a physical copy of the game? Let us know in the comments.

Hollow Knight would never have worked on N64.
3D or get out of here!
That means its release date is at about the same time as Bloodstained. That's a bit unfortunate.
Sorry but this shows who Fangamer cares about...
@TempOr but the physical for americans is not. Therefore not delayed, just put them first
"America First" in action
Never liked fangamer or their business model. This has just has confirmed they are as bad as I thought. Giving limited Run games a run for their money as biggest money grabbing crooks in gaming
I'm actually getting a bit more annoyed by this. I think it's quite bad manners to postpone a (once again, European) release like this, one week in advance without even telling anything about the underlying reasonings. I think I might cancel my pre-order.
I have contacted my retailer to ask about that. But I am pretty disappointed.
A whole month!
Also just realised, this means the physical doesn't come out until the same date as Bloodstained AND MARIO MAKER 2!!
Well done Fangamer just make it so that you can probably justify not releasing stuff to the rest of the world as they will be playing either one of these. CONSPIRACY!!!
@Bunkerneath Well both will be available for playing way before their physical releases. Hollow knight is playable now and Bloodstained will be playable on 15th or 16th.
But for me it is kind of true because I have never played Hollow Knight and I am going to play it with the physical release, same with Bloodstained.
But Bloodstained is with priority!
@N64-ROX Is that you, Jimmy Kimmel?
@Baart I'm sorry, did you just call me Jerry Seinfeld?
Is there only a "standard" physical European version, or also the collectors edition like in the US?
@Timsworld2 I'm actually not too familiar with them, but it seems like they've done similar stuff considering your reaction?
i bought the game from their own site. Did i pre-ordered the American release then or the European release?
@PiXeLSteF I think there is a collectors edition in UK. I toyed with getting it but decided on standard instead
Sorry for Europe, but really glad it didn’t get pushed back in N.A. Guacamelee already got pushed back to that week, and I’m getting Mario Maker, and Bloodstained. 4 games in a week would’ve been way too much!
@Joekun does Guacamelee physical edition get both titles on cart or is 1 of the games still a download?
@PiXeLSteF Both games. Unfortunately the DLC comes as a download code. The release got pushed again into August though.
