Re: Nintendo's Investors Are Reportedly "Spooked" As Stock Slides

@Solid_Python If you need a subscription service plan for upgrades then it's not "free". And a lot of these upgrades aren't really worth the upcharge Nintendo is charging. Mario Party + Jamboree TV is a good example of that. Some of the most diehard fans are insulted with what Nintendo did with that one.

@KevinP I agree with you. I also think it's insulting that they are charging people for frame rate and graphics upgrades for some titles. This is an expensive system and I seriously doubt it's costing Nintendo much to upgrade the specs for the Switch 2. It would show some goodwill to consumers who bought the system. They are being really greedy this gen and trying to squeeze every dollar out of consumers. Just my opinion

I always said the true test of the Switch 2 would be when the honeymoon phase was over. The diehard fans were always going to buy it at launch and soon afterwards. The rest of the population are fine waiting and don't see a need to upgrade, especially given the high prices of the console, games, and accessories. Nintendo used to be the choice for families but those days are long gone it seems. With the state of the world a lot of people are more focused on just trying to survive instead of buying a game system that's not a huge leap compared to the previous one.

@deezcronuts I agree with you. Nintendo really should've had a new Mario game ready for launch or within six months of the system being out. That's inexcusable in my opinion. Bananza is a good game but not a system seller. It also looks like it was something that was initially made for Switch but moved over to Switch 2 to pad Nintendo's first party lineup for Switch 2

I personally see no reason to upgrade. My Switch OLED is serving me well. Game key cards, high console price, inferior screen, lackluster battery life, etc... There are plenty of reasons why some people aren't in a hurry to upgrade. I always said the true test for the system would be when the honeymoon phase was over. The hardcore fans were always going to rush out and buy it immediately. Those of us with patience and other options can wait until we see actual value before taking the plunge

Once the honeymoon phase was over, the true testament of the Switch 2 would come. It's an okay system but something a lot of people don't feel they must rush out to buy. With the economy being in trouble, a lot of people are tightening their wallets for more important things such as food, shelter, clothing, etc... A lot of parents definitely aren't spending close to a grand or more on a game system, games, accessories, and a subscription service.

@PikminMarioKirby One of the most sensible and fact based comments on here. It'll anger some fanboys but it's the truth. Nintendo looks at itself as the Apple of gaming and think its products deserve premium pricing. No game should be $80 plus dollars in my opinion. And charging so much for plastic figures that cost a few dollars to make is also asinine. Some people will inevitably say, "You're not forced to buy anything they out put!" That's true but Nintendo had a reputation on being family friendly with pricing. I get it that things charge with market conditions, better tech, etc... But some of the stuff Nintendo is doing is clearly coming from a place of greed. There's absolutely no reason they should've charged for a tech demo. There's no reason a new Pokemon game should be full price and the quality hasn't drastically changed for the better compared to previous games. These are just my opinions and I'm glad others aren't blinded by the love they have for this company to not acknowledge some serious issues
