@JohnnyMind what IS your point exactly? Where will ‘censorship’ on these points (haha) bring us?
Because it’s not even censorship at all. It’s a badly needed, conscious decision to remove things that are embarrassingly out of step with reality and the modern world. My wife works at a company where guys can wear any suit they please, while the women wear a stuffy, set in stone uniform. THAT censoring sucks, not a tiny, insignificant omission from a video game.
To the people saying rabbit costumes have no sexual connotation in Japan. I used to live up the road from a snack bar where all the staff sometimes wore rabbit costumes to attract customers passing outside. They were not of the all covering onesie variety.
@Thirteen1355 Metroid Prime 4 will likely release at a similar time, maybe sooner?
Nowt wrong with a little ROM hack but I guess to just grab a franchise’s identity along with its mechanics, art and music and build your own game seems a bit…less groovy?
Felt like something you’d come up with in English when you’re 13 and on a transcendent first three Resi game bender.
I think 5 has aged worse, to be fair. Call me over-sensitive but it’s setting doesn’t sit right with me, that and it’s a shallow husk of a Resi 4 regurgitation.
This article is just as, if not more valid than the “preorders open for ‘stunning’ Charizard statue” type articles that pop up here.
I think a scroll wheel would be cracking for the equip menus in BOTW/TOTK/any inventory heavy game, and I trust Nintendo and other devs would use them quirkily and creatively too.
Now here’s a game that deserved a little direct spotlight. These guys are the unsung indie heroes of pixel art and immaculately pitched retro challenge.
It’s not a Nintendo game, it’s a game by those other guys what did Layers of Fear because it looks like a game by those other guys what did Layers of Fear and not a Nintendo game.
Nintendo would never make this kind of game and they wouldn’t employ this type of art direction, ever.
@jimmytodgers Siren was amazing. Completely overshadowed by genre heavyweights but the non-linear timeline changing your perceptions of characters was genius. Collecting the 100 archive items to fill out the story was another incredible touch. What a game.
Emio just looks like full on generic indie horror so far. Not on my radar at all.
Why not make a slender ‘inner’ joy con with just a scroll wheel on it. You’d just slide it onto the console, then slide the regular con on, sandwiching it like a plastic ham?
Call it the Scroll con, joy joy con con or scron con?
This was one of the first games where I kind of walked in on myself and thought “Jesus, what the hell am I playing? What on earth would my relatives think if they saw me playing this?”
I played the original SMT5 before finally jumping into persona 5, and it left me cold by comparison.
A beautiful, rarified beast of an RPG with gameplay at the forefront. Knife edge battles where scouring every corner of the map gives you the goods to manipulate and game the system to survive. Like a demon, yeah?
If we’re talking about ‘trash’ developers or publishers I think we should take a quick glance at the eshop and those titles that release and rerelease at 90% discounts week in week out.
The game in question here is a passion project made with comparatively tiny resources and a handful of people. It’s also been made with technical limitations of both Switch and the software it was developed on. Can’t believe that people have pitted it against Overwatch in here.
I’m just going to sidestep the bulk of what’s being discussed here and say that this is one of the very best JRPGs I’ve ever played. An absolutely beautiful procession of knife edge boss fights, mechanics and environments that are there to be manipulated in satisfying ways and the abscess battle theme completely rips.
I played Persona 5 after and it didn’t capture me anywhere near as much.
I have it on good authority from an insider that their shares will go up again once Switch 2 is announced, then down again once the next Pokemon game recycles battle animations.
It’s obviously hard to move on from something you’ve worked on and then seen it become less yours over time.
At the same time I personally feel that games lose a bit of their soul when they crossover with other franchises…Dead Cells has done it plenty so maybe that’s a sign it’s time wrap things up?
Move on and make your next work even better than the last!
Indie games have flourished so much since this caliber of game could get a special mention on a high traffic site.
Mutant Mudds on Switch sits better amongst all those 1 quid 90% off platformers with Microsoft paint art direction. Would be nice if there was more digging for something more deserving of the spotlight.
Not feeling true love of the term ‘hidden gem’ in this article. Some almost lukewarm write-ups for a lane of gaming you can get real evocative and passionate on
Zelda and timeline is such a tragic pairing of words.
It’s a legend: A single story that gets retold and reworked through time. There are constants such as the triforce, alternate worlds and big bad pigs, but different people would tell it a different way
That said, Nintendo have more or less confirmed the timeline despite directors etc dunking on it by littering TOTK with Link’s various legendary beanies.

Sounds like it’s taken a leaf from Signalis with its tactile, varied interface puzzles. What a treat that game was.
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Update 1.6 Arriving On Switch Next Week
This game plays so much worse than a lot of the Castlevania knockoffs with zero pedigree. Even when I tried it on Steam Deck.
A big bloated mess with all those ugly features like backer cameos and stretch goal gimmicks that shaped early Kickstarter games.
Couldn’t bear it. By comparison I played the GBA collection recently and my first play through of Aria of Sorrow was a 10/10. Magic.

Why do people waste their precious creative energy on a property that isn’t theirs? And why is that property always Metroid?

If we’re talking just slotting one franchise into a Zelda shaped hole there can only be one answer.

Were it to happen, it would trump all other uses of the Zelda template merely by existing.
Oh and it would be called Garlic Breath of the Wild.
