I played the original SMT5 before finally jumping into persona 5, and it left me cold by comparison.
A beautiful, rarified beast of an RPG with gameplay at the forefront. Knife edge battles where scouring every corner of the map gives you the goods to manipulate and game the system to survive. Like a demon, yeah?
If we’re talking about ‘trash’ developers or publishers I think we should take a quick glance at the eshop and those titles that release and rerelease at 90% discounts week in week out.
The game in question here is a passion project made with comparatively tiny resources and a handful of people. It’s also been made with technical limitations of both Switch and the software it was developed on. Can’t believe that people have pitted it against Overwatch in here.
I’m just going to sidestep the bulk of what’s being discussed here and say that this is one of the very best JRPGs I’ve ever played. An absolutely beautiful procession of knife edge boss fights, mechanics and environments that are there to be manipulated in satisfying ways and the abscess battle theme completely rips.
I played Persona 5 after and it didn’t capture me anywhere near as much.
I have it on good authority from an insider that their shares will go up again once Switch 2 is announced, then down again once the next Pokemon game recycles battle animations.
It’s obviously hard to move on from something you’ve worked on and then seen it become less yours over time.
At the same time I personally feel that games lose a bit of their soul when they crossover with other franchises…Dead Cells has done it plenty so maybe that’s a sign it’s time wrap things up?
Move on and make your next work even better than the last!
Indie games have flourished so much since this caliber of game could get a special mention on a high traffic site.
Mutant Mudds on Switch sits better amongst all those 1 quid 90% off platformers with Microsoft paint art direction. Would be nice if there was more digging for something more deserving of the spotlight.
Not feeling true love of the term ‘hidden gem’ in this article. Some almost lukewarm write-ups for a lane of gaming you can get real evocative and passionate on
Zelda and timeline is such a tragic pairing of words.
It’s a legend: A single story that gets retold and reworked through time. There are constants such as the triforce, alternate worlds and big bad pigs, but different people would tell it a different way
That said, Nintendo have more or less confirmed the timeline despite directors etc dunking on it by littering TOTK with Link’s various legendary beanies.
Copies filling the shelves in my local game shop today. Just a tweet to maximize sales from people that don’t have enough free time to find the place stocking it.
6 repairs a year for either 200 yen a month or 2000 per year is a really weird, maybe easily exploitable system. My OG switch is busted in about 6 ways so is that 200 yen?
@TromaDogg I don’t think any creator working now is relying on end game credits as the one source of acknowledgement for their hard work. A game as big as Metroid Prime has easily hundreds of hours of hugely positive retrospectives, documentaries and reviews on YouTube alone. If I worked on the game, I’d be satisfied with that.
@DashKappei Seriously spelled it out? No. I was joking.
I was a freelance illustrator and worked hard to get my name out there. If you’re talking about credits as a means to get further employment, surely including the entire original team pulls focus away from the people who actually did work on the remaster?
Are the people annoyed over this asking for double, triple or even quadruple-whammy credits in subsequent remasters? Credits to gameplay ratios are at risk here.
I’m grateful I got to buy and play a great game made by talented people. But really, credits are a weird thing specific to games and movies that maybe we don’t need to get so passionate about?
The single acknowledgment to the original team is enough.
Jesus could you blow it out of proportion a little more?
Games are unsuccessfully pitched to Nintendo ALL THE TIME. Doesn’t mean they all need covering by an arrogant YouTube channel for the purpose of history.

Re: Rumour: Leaker Hints At New Nintendo Codenames, Persona 6 On 'Switch 2', And More
Fun fact: There’s comparatively little surprise and magic in triple A gaming now because it’s all leaked for social media clout or article clicks.
Goodnight!

One of Switch’s lesser sung belters for sure

Re: Review: 1080° Snowboarding - Effortlessly Cool Shredding That Demands Perfection
Was this review updated at all? No mention of how pulling off a 1080 works in comparison to the tailor made N64 controls.
Best snowboarding game ever, was always disappointed at the genre’s shift towards SSX style fireworks. Though that game ripped too tbf

They probably got a LOT of drifty joycons too.

@Clyde_Radcliffe
Groovy, Clyde.
Let’s have a half hour sequence that everyone will absolutely skip, rather than a succinct acknowledgment people might actually read.
Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster
@SonOfDracula Actually it’s just one person who I seem to have annoyed through being jocular about an absolutely tiny non issue.
Was just trying to be humorous while standing by my actual point.
Absolutely stand by you on comments sections, by the way.

Re: Overwatch 2 Player Count Reaches 35 Million Players In The First Month
Doesn’t Overwatch 2 basically inherit all the original game’s players by wiping out the original game? Bit cheeky, that 35 million claim.
Re: Overwatch 2 Player Count Reaches 35 Million Players In The First Month
@SteamEngenius
It’s taken 40 hours to get the desired level of control? Oh aye, sounds like a great game.
