M2's 'Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli Collection' For Switch Has Been Rated By The ESRB

The Teleconnect Shooter collection was also rated by the ESRB and listed as being published by Limited Run. It's nice that they're publishing these games that would otherwise not have been localised, but their physicals have not been up to par lately from what I've heard.

@TromboneGamer Their physicals also take ridiculously long to produce. I think they bite off more than they can chew, so their resources are spread thin. I'd rather just buy digital in most cases vs waiting a year or longer to get what I paid for.

@Kilroy My NMH 2 collector's box came damaged at the top, but my shantae seven sirens box was fine. Even back then it took forever for them to ship. I'm very annoyed having to wait for my Rayz collection from Strictly Limited, but the quality of their releases seems to be generally good though. Not that that matters to me much since I just got a standard copy.

After playing plenty of Tiger Heli on the NES long ago, I’ve enjoyed the arcade original on my Egret II Mini lately. It’s old-school hard, but you keep wanting to give it one more try.

I never bought the expensive ShotTriggers release in Japan, since I had already splurged on the Egret last year. An LRG release is bound to be cheaper though!
If LRG does announce it this week, maybe they could gift us with ESP ra.de.PSI too? That’s another fantastic M2 port that people would welcome.

Never knew there were this many versions of Tiger Heli. This was one of the first Nes games i played when i was just a kid. The music that would repeat on every stage is burned into my brain.

I bought this not long after it launched on the Japanese Eshop. Absolutely brilliant package. I haven't got round to buying Fire Shark yet, will eventually though. Just learned today that the next Arcade Garage is out this month, Zero Wing and Hellfire. I absolutely loved Hellfire on the Megadrive. Along with R-type on the Master System, it was the game that got me into shoot em ups. I played it again a few years ago and it's held up superbly. With M2's polishing, this collection is going to be a real treat for me.

This series has dlc. I wonder if that will be on the carts too.

I'm a little surprised. Never thought any more M2 Shottriggers games were coming to the west.

Guess the Aleste collection isn't happening. Nor a physical release of Ketsui "Deathtiny" (unless Wednesday brings more surprises).

@mrbogus @Teksetter I agree that it would be great to get more of M2's Japan-only output over in this neck of the woods. ESP Ra.De in particular, seems criminal not to have a worldwide release, digitally at least. I take other's points about just downloading from Japanese eshop but for some reason I never do (think there is perhaps a step too many to get Japanese eshop credit at a decent rate). I also don't like these limited edition releases but recognise there mightn't be a physical release for many games otherwise

I've gotten everything related to Shot Triggers so far on PS5. I can't recommend them enough. The definitive versions of these games and while the gadgets are a little unnecessary, they fill the space on screen and look fantastic.

I hope they bring over all these shottrigger releases! Having the menus in English will be nice to more easily tweak the settings

@GrailUK if the games list is correct, it is. The DLC added the console versions of the main games as Guardian/Get Star as well.

i try not to hate on small/medium businesses because its tough as things are out there, but Limited Run Games are an absolutely horrible company.

Does anyone know the conversion rate price for the US version? Also will this be available digitally in the US? I want this game BAD!! I played it to death in the arcade and on the NES!! It's soooo good!!!! I'm TOO EXCITE!!!!

Hopefully the Japanese version gets a patch with English menus for those who already bought this

@Spanky84 4+ months after a preorder? Try 12+, lol. Speaking for Radiant Silvergun alone, those preorders ended mid November (lasted a month) and all three tiers of it are still "in production" which has been that way for a couple months now I think. So, give or take six months after preorders, production finally started. It's likely going to be a year or longer before I get my mid tier package of it. I mean, it's "fine" because I have a Saturn copy and bought it digital on Switch when it launched, it's just a ludicrous situation.

What I've heard from others, a year is what you should be banking on for an early delivery.

I was expecting the Shark games but I guess that was another collection (maybe for another time).
That would have been the first time NES Sky Shark was released to Japan, seemed to pretty typical of Software Creations.
For which Software Creations is about what I've heard of the British development scene: very technically impressive but with difficulty about as friendly to the player as a kick in the nuts.

@GrailUK As to my knowledge, I believe all dlc is already on the jpn cart. Don't accidentally double dip!

@Nermannn It indeed would be nice for english menus but already paid full retail on the five M2 ShotTriggers series (including unreleased zero fire) Not sure how much longer I can afford multiple copies of the same games.

@Smug43 It can be had off the Japanese Eshop for around £22/$28. Not sure about this physical edition, don't think it has a price yet. Not sure it'll ever see a Western digital release. The other Shottriggers games haven't.

@LikelySatan Well for me at least, being in Europe, often if Limited Run publishes a game it doesn't get a physical European release, although this isn't always the case. And LRG's customer service and general quality have been on a steady decline, I believe. Add in the FOMO and extortionate second-hand prices for their games, I think most people would prefer a normal physical release in shops that's easier and cheaper to get.

Honestly my heart sinks whenever I see these total knobheads are publishing.

Seems like a good collection, minus Get star/Guardian. that's a pretty bad game even for the era. haha would have been better if they added Kyuukyoku Tiger II etc. instead.

I don't really care too much about a physical release, I just want to play it again. Tiger-Heli was a game that I played with my dad on the NES all the time. Hopefully the digital version isn't too expensive for what it is.

@Spanky84 LRG's production planning has always been bottom of the barrel, but they're banking on FOMO and people not knowing how terrible of a company they are. I've bought two products from them, the first one took around a year and it looks like Radiant Silvergun will too. The ONLY reason I decided to bite on RS is because it's in my top 5 games in 30+ years and even then, I was hesitant because it's LRG. Any other game that's near the top for me already has a physical release (and affordable too), so I don't think I'm in danger of being tempted again, lol

@Smug43 I don't think it's quite like that. The Shottriggers series on Switch has been exclusive to Japan. It seems Limited Run Games have secured rights to publish this game with their model, rather than M2 going for a full western release.

Fire Shark Genesis version when?

Damn where did all these classic games came from? All of a sudden the Switch had just turn into a classic retro machine. Jurassic Park, Clock Tower, Sonic, Star Ocean, Call of Duty, Super Mario RPG, Gex, Double Dragon, TMNT, Castlevania Advance Collection, and now this.

I can't fully read kanji, where do I get the NES version of the game?
I imported the physical copy from Play Asia.

@MontyCircus Not to mention that they also screw over digital customers and importers by convincing Japanese developers to remove their English translations and delaying games such as Batsugun so their digital release come out the same day as the physical release months down the track.

Wait, no digital release? Haven’t grabbed it off JPN eShop simply because it became impossible for me to find decent prices for JPN eShop credit anymore (minimum of +10$ mark up) and Amazon Japan is now blocking my digital cards purchases despite making an account with japanese address etc.
