Re: Fire Emblem Engage Artist Celebrates First Anniversary With New Artwork

Aqueous

This game really wasn't for me and I tried I got deep into the campaign but ultimately put it down around chapter 22. I liked the class groupings of "Armour", and "Backup" as examples. As they added an interesting twist to combat but the rest of the package I didn't care for and I hope this art style is left behind going forward.

I suppose the upside to having playing Engage is it got me back to Fates and I'm on track to 9999 BP before the online goes away now.

@Charlie_Wacholz the hand size is based on the character; 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 are the different possible starting hand sizes. Those tend to reflect the amount of card recovery, on going buffs, and/or loss effects a character has.

The game is a tad sluggish but not too far behind the Steam version and for mapping the point and click mouse controls to buttons I don't think they did a terrible job.

For anyone curious about cross-play it works perfectly fine, though the Switch is a few seconds behind the Steam game. (Those being the only 2 I got to test with).

Nice to see some more bugs squashed er splatted. The new banner is cute, looking forward to Side Order proper.

@Snatcher I play any ranked mode I'm feeling comfortable with, with a weapon I feel I can succeed with for the mode. Heavy Splatling for Splat Zones or Splattershot Pro for Clam Blitz being my go to options. The other modes I'm not as skilled at it but I've been trying to improve at Tower Control. Splat Zones is likely the easiest if you mainly play Turf War for getting into the swing of.

Re: Soapbox: 15 Years Ago, The Action Replay Ruined Pokémon For Me

Action Replay was/is a spiteful device and ruined a lot of my love of playing multiplayer. I never owned one but a brother picked one up and would often load in instant victory or other cheats and then play multiplayer games with me that I had no hope of victory because of that device. I of course wouldn't know till I got handed a loss I couldn't even try to prevent. My games files would be damaged in post of it too at times forcing me to put up with broken files and glitchy bits or start anew.

Going to go Digital for a change. Normally I go physical but I suspect I'd be holding on to this one regardless.

I have been having a grand time on the return to this adventure and it is nice to have a copy of Prime that works nice on my flat screen tv (portable is nice too). My other copy is the Gamecube original.

Re: Talking Point: Who Did You Marry In Fire Emblem: Awakening?

Aqueous

I married robin to Nowi. I found their interactions cute as they actually spent time together and were building a relationship.

Marriage is something I don't need in Fire Emblem but I would love a little more character building than what is going on in Engage. The combat however has been excellent and I have been working hard to turn around my Maddening Classic run that my lack of understanding the system put in a point of almost total ruin that would have required a restart.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Tricolor Turf War In Splatoon 3?

Aqueous

I was playing for Paper.

Early Tricolour Battles were easy wins as Scissor players stood in the middle and got smashed from both sides allowing for easy steals.

Late Tricolour battles involved more tactical Scissor players who would leave the middle and take the fight to Paper and Rock which kept us off the middle and would win matches as it was harder to get in there.

I think they have some deeper strategy to learn. Certainly I could see more frequent switching or maybe stages built around it. I certainly think hiding the tricolour rules in a menu wasn't ideal but it is an interesting twist.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

Ah starting Metroid. Well, I early in the Wii life had discovered I had become rather good at playing Samus in Melee to the point where I was winning matches with ease and sparked my curiosity enough as to play one of her games and I entered the series with Metroid Prime 3 and went from there.

All good with the article.

I'd love Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Giantmaxing to all be cut. No silly gimicks bogging the game down.

I'd also love to see Ride Pokemon Cut. Bring back HMs make them a field move aka a 5th move for out of battle. Make me have to consider team choices for exploring without compromising moves or needing to get some silly pokemon in a harness.

I am curious about these new enemies. Ceramic armor on the legs and arms is an angel trait in the previous games. While the fleshiness and dark colourations are demon traits. The Blues and neon turquoise are new. The text in the deep blue is also different. I am curious if this is a new alien (literally or just unknown) faction or if some kind of demon/angel hybrid.

Re: Soapbox: In Praise Of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Two Years On

@twztid13 Kind of.

Playing without maxing out your professor level right off the bat cuts down on how many activities and battles one can do. As well as reduces the amount of tutoring a week. Which as a result makes things a bit faster which No New Game+ forces as you lack the ability to up your professor level.

Really a New Game+ where you buff student skill levels but don't increase one's professor level would likely be fastest.
