As you might have heard, Capcom's insanely successful Nintendo Switch title Monster Hunter Rise is coming to the PC in 2022. If you're interested in checking out this version but are worried about having to start the hunt again, then read on.
Following on from the game's spotlight at this year's Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has shared a survey asking fans a series of personal questions and how they feel about the game. One question, in particular, that's got a lot of attention makes reference to cross-play, cross-saves and cross-progression.
The exact question asks the following, and below this are some of the options you can select from:
What, if anything, would make you more interested in purchasing Monster Hunter Rise on PC? Please select all that apply.
- Cross-play between PC and Nintendo Switch versions
- Cross-save or cross-progression with Nintendo Switch version
If you are interested in checking out the PC release prior to its release, a free demo of this version will be released on October 13th via Steam.
Would these types of features make you more interested in picking up Monster Hunter Rise when it's released on PC? Tell us down in the comments.

I hope we get Crossplay/cross save for it... id love it if thay went back and added suport for it for World too.
Filled it out. Hoping that they'll make the rampage optional content, instead of forcing people to do it the entire story.
As for switch cross-platform stuff, I really hope they'll allow that, since then I can play the PC port with friends and the data that I have already on my game card.
I shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job Capcom, just make it happen just like how you make the PC port happen without me asking why.
@Specter_of-the_OLED thats what i thought but i figure its a way of getting more publicity and reminding people that the game exists in case they fell off. Word of mouth might send the survey to someone who stopped.
@YusseiWarrior3000 Eh, Cross-play is more important in my eyes. Plus, the only way to do voice chat on switch is through the crappy mobile app I'm pretty sure.
No, Capcom, we do not want new features. What an outrageous proposition.
I literally will only purchase this if these features are implemented so…
Providing the option for cross-progression will incentivize Switch owners to double-dip. At least Capcom is thinking about it.
Personally I'd still stick to Switch since a portable Monster Hunter for me is still the way to go (dock it whenever I do voice chat with friends) and I'll forego all those PC bells and whistles for it. At 30fps it already runs very smooth.
I want a Series X or PS5 version. I’ve since made it to the end game and a new lick of paint would bring me right back. Love this game and before anybody says “ just get the Steam version.” No. I’m a multi-console gamer. To the bitter end.
@DomGC still doesn’t change the fact that I can’t finish the hub quests because they’re forcing it on me..
@Realness Well, I doubt it’ll go multiplatform, other than steam, given that it was made mainly for the switch in mind.
@Zyph plan on grabing a steam deck portable whenever i can get one and this will be definitely played on it. Get all the pc bells with improved graphics while still portable
@Williamfuchs420 I thought about this. But I already have a beefy gaming PC and of course a Switch so money-wise getting a Steam Deck is impractical IMO. Although I would recommend anyone to get a Steam Deck if they don't have a gaming PC in the first place and they fancy playing handheld.
@Zyph ya no gaming pc here and having one that makes it easy for me to play pc games as easy as a console for basically the same price of a high end console im in. Portability is a huge plus as well always been a more portable centric gamer.
If it have cross save (cross progression) I'll probably buy someday at a sale... If it doesn't have, I'm 100% sure that the idea of buy the PC version will never even slightly pass on mind
Ill take both but do it kinda like how overwatch does it.
Make it so you can choose to play in the mixed pool or not.
@VoidofLight
"still doesn’t change the fact that I can’t finish the hub quests because they’re forcing it on me.."
You hate it so much that you can't even be bothered to do it once or twice and instead would stop your entire progress?
Yes please. The more people we have to hunt with the better
@VoidofLight
Other games have their own voice chat support. It's primarily the Nintendo games that require the crappy app.
As far as multiplatform goes, developing a game with the Switch in mind should mean an easy opportunity to port the games to the other consoles. I don't see what's stopping them, especially considering Nintendo didn't stop the game from going onto PC.
Switch will be at a huge disadvantage if it has cross play with PC. PC will be at 60 fps while Switch will be at 30 fps. So I think it’s better we don’t get cross play with this.
Cross progression is fine though
Cross save maybe I would get the PC one. Cross play would be the feature I would want to see.
@VoidofLight You might just have to let rampage quests grow on you. Because I'll bet you anything rampage quests will turn into castle siege quests in Sunbreak
@YusseiWarrior3000 I would rather have 8+ player lobbies than voice chat. MHTri in the US sacrificed 12~ player lobbies for a voice chat that didn't even work well. I still feel bitter about that. Nintendo gamers just aren't going to make use of voice chat enough to sacrifice other potential online features (not to mention framerate). Not even MHWorld on PS4 with its huge player base had enough voice-chat players to make it worthwhile with strangers.
@anoyonmus How can you be at a disadvantage in a co-op game? 30fps is not a dealbreaker, even for endgame quests. And the few elitists who might boot Switch players in their lobbies are the same bad apples who boot players for a myriad of other petty excuses, like banning LS or SnS, HAME/Speedrun sets only, etc.
Doubling the online player base in a co-op game is only a good thing.
By the way, PC Rise isn't 60fps. The PC version will be uncapped framerate, which means PC gamers with a powerful enough setup can go all the way up to 120fps.
@Kirgo Yep. I dread the rampage mode. Who thought it was a good idea to have monsters that keep rushing towards a gate with loads of hp? I don’t have friends to really help me with them either, so I have to do it alone until my friends start playing again..
@DomGC I like the game though, so it’s not really my loss. I just dislike the rampage mode itself, and wish that it was an option more than anything.
Definitely won’t buy if they don’t
Filled out the survey. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Liam!!
Want to make Capcom pay for a feature only 5% of users will take advantage of? Lol. But really, would be a nice to have mte than a must have. I would never use it, but they're a big company with a big franchise and a newfound PC user base from World that would love it!
@VoidofLight
Not sure what you mean by "loads of hp". Aside from the boss at the end, most monsters in rampage die in seconds. Many at the same time.
I mean, you can just invest like 20 minutes (ahlf of that is just fighting the boss, as you do in Monster Hunter) or so to do that one rampage to unlock the rest of the hub quests with much more content.
I don't think there could possibly be a mode I hate so much, that I wouldn't be ready to invest that kind of time to get past it.
But to each their own, I guess.
Im so selfish but I hate that this game is no longer Switch bound.
Yes, please allow for crossplay. At the very least cross-progression. The FPS difference won't matter much in a co-op game. Hell, Dauntless plays like that. It has cross play with 30 FPS on Switch and higher FPS on others. It's doable they just have to make it happen.
