While I have no doubt that the remake will provide quality of life enhancements, and will likely feel the best to play, I do feel like a lot has been lost in the visuals department. The remake art style feels inferior to the originals, and the colours in the game are a lot less bright and saturated. I do hope the game sells well though, we can do with a new original Advance Wars title.

That's a nice touch. Hope this becomes the standard for Nintendo going forward.

@moodycat I believe it's more of stagnation rather than decline, but I see your point.

@IpwnedU123 You should probably try buying it. One of the reasons it likely took 19 years to release a new 2d metroid game (i.e. not a remake) is because the franchise was deemed to niche and didn't make enough sales. Not buying the game now may mean you'll have to wait a way longer time to play the next game.

I would love that, although it would have a hard time standing up to Retro's outing. I do wish the rumour wasn't spoiled in the title, because if it is true some people might prefer to be surprised during its announcement.

@LEGEND_MARIOID I didn't even know Bananaman had a tv series. I thought he was just a character who had a strip in the Beano comic (which I enjoyed a lot as a kid).

Perhaps it's because some people could use the spotpass app to homebrew their devices. Maybe nintendo wanted to eliminate that.

Which is better to begin with?

I remember playing the Next Chapter in 2009 and loving it. The game had me emotionally invested, especially the ending. I don't know if it would hold up if I played it now that I'm older. Still looks better than this though. Could've used a lot more work.

In order to avoid offending future audiences, film directors should research the historical significance of each and every line in their movies.

I mean I love getting games physically, but for Indies I find it so much more expensive that I'm usually put off.

@Zeldafan79 Suckering is a strong word. Sure Sonic had a cooler aesthetic, but the games were quality, so consumers weren't really "suckered" into playing the games. I also only played the 2d sonic games in the past 3 years, so I'm saying this with no nostalgia when I say sonic mania is legitimately one of the best platformers I've played.

@Noid It could continue off of the altered ending where they had Mikey fall off a tree and go into a coma. However I would definitely prefer the original ending. The game probably sucks now, but it I was very emotionally attached to it when I was a kid.

@Ogbert Ooh nice. I mean obviously I haven't played the game so I'm missing some context but I'm wondering how much being nicey nicey would be a detriment. Reminds me of Kirby's epic yarn which just the other day got a solid recommendation in an article by Gavin. Perhaps the different tastes of the reviewer is something to consider.
