Re: 'Pandemic' Will Apparently Be Removed From The Switch eShop This July

@Shiesty which is the problem, since it's not even confirmed. It stemmed from the first person who speculated something. By the time it reaches the last person, the speculation has circulated to the point that that person considers it fact even though it may very well not be.

Then again if the article wasn't worded the way it was then this wouldn't even be an issue. Looks like they definitely coaxed the conversation to this pointless angle, instead of it being a PSA to pick up this game if you're interested before it leaves the shop.

1st person: "Take this as a grain of salt but I bet it's probably getting removed because of X"

2nd person: "I read on this site that the game is being removed because of X"

3rd person: "Woooow ok, the game is being removed because of X??? More Political agenda nonsense!!"

Oh how quickly the cycle of disinformation can spread once a few people start trying to guess at the reason something is being removed. If we don't know, we don't know... that's it.

Re: Square Enix President Knows You Hate NFTs Because You "Play To Have Fun"

ATaco

@UltimateOtaku91 From what I've seen of Ubisoft's example it would be something like a helmet with a unique serial number on it. Don't expect these "one of a kind unique NFT skins" to be anything incredible. For all we know your skin could be different because it has a 1 instead of a 2 in it.

Let's not forget that the publishers don't want to waste too much money actually designing unique outfits that only 1 person will ever own...and if they do then don't expect that you'll ever be able to afford it.

Re: Sonic's Co-Creator Yuji Naka Made A New Game, And You Can Play It Right Now

ATaco

Ok I'm back after playing it for a while and I must say... it's incredibly annoying to get ad after ad everytime you hit 2048. Especially when your score is getting high and you get 2048 with every other shot. It's egregiously monetized and this dude is laughing his way to the bank. Probably doubting why he even put that much effort into Balan.

"The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It's by giving those people a service that's better than what they're receiving from the pirates."

I'd say this extends to suing people too, which Nintendo absolutely loves to do. They want to be the Disney of Video Games...and just as restrictive and brutal to their consumers.

Re: Fantasy Life Online Comes Out In English On iOS And Android Today

@HeadPirate I've played plenty and I mean plenty of games like this to know exactly how this one is going to turn out. If it makes you feel better I can download the game play it for an hour and see the same mechanics I always see in freemium games that drag the experience down and then come back here and give you my exact same assessment of this game.

Then again I find popular games that people love like Genshin Impact to also be absolute garbage so one can assume that I might have "bad taste" but these freemium games are always trash to me after giving so many a try. I don't even like games that do F2P "right" like Apex, so there's that. Just give me the full complete game without any extra monetization and I'll be happy. I hate the freemium business model in all its forms.

Re: Fantasy Life Online Comes Out In English On iOS And Android Today

@HeadPirate You seem quite keen on defending this game so it'd be best if I just told you that I'm biased when it comes to these freemium gacha games. Every one of these that I try from Fire Emblem to disgaea might be interesting in concept and try to replicate what makes the franchise good but the gacha mechanic tends to become such a deterrent that I fail to find any fun in them. I get told "you can do anything without having to spend money" but that comes at the expense of either my time via constant grinding or being forced to use "optimal setups" instead of the way i'd like to play. No freemium mobile version of a game that I've played in the past has ever satisfied me in the same way that just playing the main games do and from the looks of things this won't either. It looks like another daily check in chorefest.

So to answer your question...no, I haven't played it and no I don't intend to. It's all my opinion with my own bias, which we've all got and that's all good.

Re: Review: Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp - Fanservice Aplenty, But A Total Grindfest

ATaco

@Greatluigi microtransactions tend to be a scam regardless where they're implemented. They're predatory in nature, to the point that all these free to play games make more money than the big AAA huge budget releases. You'd actually be better off paying for the game once than you do spending it on a F2P.

And if you aren't paying with money, you're paying with time. A lot of time.

Re: Video: Check Out This Side-By-Side Comparison Of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City On Switch And PS Vita

ATaco

If I were a dev on this game I'd be embarrassed to see fans nearly outdoing me. Then again if I'm working for Rockstar I'm probably focused on making more GTA Online so people can either grind hours or pay to just access the good content instead of doing anything new and exciting. It wouldn't even be my fault as the dev...players just won't stop playing and spending in GTAO.

Re: Review: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Three Classics In One Shocking Package

ATaco

@DTfeartheBEARD "A lot of the problems these games have (pop in/Frame drops, ect)are also in the original PS2 versions"

.... you'd think the "definitive edition" would have at least been able to make the games run smoothly, at least fix the problems that were the result of pushing the hardware to the limits. They are nearly or over 20 years old! Back before Rockstar threatened legal action on modders they had these games running much better than these embarrassing ports.

Re: Nintendo Has Now Shut Down Its Dr. Mario World Mobile Game

@GannonBanned
In Japan the term Gacha is used for those machines that you put a few quarters in and you get a random toy. It's become a popular phrase here used to describe the similar idea where you put in a few dollars to get a random character in mobile games. It's become such a popular term that most games just straight up call it Gacha too.
