Re: Steam Deck Nintendo Emulation Videos Are Being Pulled From YouTube

ATaco

Once again the old farts at Nintendo think they can stop emulation from happening if they take down a few videos or bust a few rom distribution sites. More will always pop up to take their place. Especially when they encourage it by refusing to allow people to purchase their goods through legal means.

Re: Edge Of Eternity - Cloud Version Launches On Nintendo Switch Today

ATaco

"cloud versions" are going to keep happening when developers try to port their projects to outdated hardware. It was already on the way out when it released but Nintendo refusing to update their hardware is going to start hurting them the longer this goes on. Once again the steam deck is looking like the device to get for optimal 3rd party handheld gaming...

Re: 1,000 "Digital-Only" Titles Estimated To Disappear When Nintendo Closes 3DS & Wii U eShop

ATaco

"It had to be done eventually".

Meanwhile I'm over here downloading PS1 games on the PS3. Sure the services probably do need to be shut down eventually but why so soon? Nintendo isn't some indie company struggling to stay afloat. Put some of that money you make selling us a sub par subscription (Nintendo Online) into keeping the stores up.

Steam Deck is looking like it's going to replace my portable handheld needs in the near future...you're not irreplaceable Nintendo...

Re: Nintendo Is Closing The 3DS & Wii U eShops And Has "No Plans To Offer Classic Content In Other Ways"

ATaco

@Maximumbeans It won't be different because people have already resigned themselves to Nintendo not listening. The thing with Nintendo fans is that they complain...but then they buy the thing. They complain...but then they forget a week later. This isn't exclusive to Nintendo fans since Madden/fifa fans are the same but it just sucks to see people roll over and just toss Nintendo more money. I hate that this Company makes great games, otherwise they'd be treated like EA/Activision...

Re: Nintendo Is Closing The 3DS & Wii U eShops And Has "No Plans To Offer Classic Content In Other Ways"

ATaco

@Maximumbeans The problem is I've never seen people stick to their guns concerning Nintendo. The fact that the mentality is "Nintendo decided, there's nothing we can do." Is the exact reason why Nintendo always gets a free pass on literally everything.

Best start buying the 3DS games you really want to play now because Nintendo is creating forced scarcity once more and I can see the games skyrocketing in price as a result.

Re: Nintendo Is Ending Support For The 3DS & Wii U eShop

ATaco

Sony fans: Fight it and get the company to change their decision, keeping both the PS3 and Vita stores up, the Vita of particular note because it released around the same time as the 3DS and was infinitely less popular.

Nintendo fans: It was a good run I guess.

Re: Are Complaints About Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Graphics Fair? Digital Foundry Digs In

ATaco

If a developer doesn't have any respect in the product they put out, then I don't have any desire to play it. People only buy games based on brand, they don't look at reviews, they don't read opinions, they just see a big name on the box and buy it and will usually be happy with what they get.

This is why I will always support indies and wish nothing best for them. Game freak needs to start releasing a few flops.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Has Generated Nearly $1 Billion In Revenue After Five Years

ATaco

@somnambulance what, you don't like characters that have 2 paragraphs worth of effects on their weapons and skills? lol

I remember going back to three houses after playing FEH recently and sighing in relief when I see death blow is considered strong and not
"If unit is within 2 spaces of foe and unit has a bonus, gain atk/def +7 unless unit is within 3 spaces of foe but negate that if a ranged unit is in cardinal directions of unit in which case grant guaranteed follow up and negate counterattack unless unit has a penalty on which case negate penalty and grant bonus based on penalty amount."

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Has Generated Nearly $1 Billion In Revenue After Five Years

ATaco

The game actually started out pretty well. Sure it had the usual microtransaction garbage but it was kept to only being able to buy the premium currency. Now they sell packs with 5 star heroes, resource packs, holiday packs whenever those are around and of course the dreaded FEH pass. A $10 a month subscription service that locks quality of life improvements behind it, among accelerated resources gains so that you quickly surpass what F2P players are able to scrounge up. The microtransactions keep slowly getting more and more egregious and yet they get introduced at a snail's pace so that people get comfortable without realizing that they're paying more and more...$5 here...$10 there...and maybe even $40 because come ON it's a special event!

And from the looks of things...the strategy is working.

Re: Soapbox: Don't Cheer For Corporate Takeovers - It's Not A Game

ATaco

We should cheer things that benefit the consumer, not hinder them. I don't understand the second hand endorphin rush that some people feel to see "Sony sold well this month" "Nintendo sold the most software" "Microsoft acquired something" or whatever. You're not getting the check in the mail, you're not getting any benefit from it and in some cases you as a consumer are being treated worse for it. It's nothing to cheer about.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

ATaco

If you're a Nintendo fan you're used to bad graphics and bad performance. That's just how it is. You don't expect anything better so long as you're getting fun gameplay. I don't necessarily think this is an insult, mind you. It's just how it is. The only problem I really have is graphics so bad I can't make out what I'm meant to be looking at or sub 30 framerate...which a lot of switch games can't manage to hit consistently.
