@Andy_C444 Not sure about the whole "selling out" bit. These big gaming news sites get big by pushing out articles that people want to read and engage with. If they don't...then they probably aren't well known websites. Clicks, traffic means money and money makes the world go round.
@Andy_C444 Didn't we just have a review of that pirate girl game where adjusting breast sizes affected stats a few weeks ago? NL does review and talk about games of all sorts. Whatever might get them the most clicks, one way or another.
As for why this particular game? Quite frankly, we don't see too much of this style of game targeting gay males. It naturally draws the eye more than the next closet indie game that is probably great but will sell poorly.
@Arkay Seems like this is targeted more towards the gay male audience. I'd say Yaoi fans might be a demographic but this seems more like the type of bod that the homies prefer. Hands too small, you see.
@blindsquarel probably because there's a lot of things worth "overreacting" for. Nintendo aren't exactly saints and masters of good business practices.
I mean, yeah. Big events catch the eye much more than just a single publisher hosting something. I don't think it's wrong for me to claim that people like a bit of spectacle to go along with the announcements. If they didn't...then they probably just watch trailers. It's why I don't tune into Nintendo Directs or State of Plays, they're essentially just a stream of trailers played one after the other(with oftentimes annoying or cringy commentary in between talking to me like I'm 6 years old). I'd much prefer to pick and choose what trailers I'd like to waste my time watching, thanks. Either go big and go loud or don't go at all and just dump trailers on social media.
Sony: PS3 & Vita have problems with the PlayStation store, fixes within the week despite now being considered legacy platforms.
Nintendo: Service has been "undergoing maintenance" for 2 months now. They should at least have the guts to tell their customers they're not bothering with it anymore. Nintendo fans will apologize for overreacting.
With the way Pokemon has been milking it's franchise to the ground it's good that there's some competition coming out...even if looks incredibly similar to what no doubt inspired it.
@Serpenterror which isn't great considering that the steam deck can do all those things besides play Nintendo titles, and better.
Then again Nintendo has always banked off the success of their first party titles. Wouldn't surprise me if they consider non Nintendo titles selling well on the device just a bonus.
Seems as though publishers are finally starting to call it quits for last gen. All things considered, cross gen really lasted a long time this cycle...no small part due to covid, no doubt.
Stuck with FEH until the subscription pass came out. People defend that it for being a good value and compare it to buying coffee or a burger...but I can't eat this game. So I give up trying to reason with people once they start trying to compare the price of a monthly pass to something completely different.
Can they be brought on normal missions? I don't often get the chance to play online and would love to have some assistance with some of the harder monsters. I've gotten pretty good at soloing most of them but it gets tedious when you're grinding for parts if you're not doing it online. A proper partner instead of a Palico could help alleviate some of the tedium.
I'm trying to think of a game that I would go to when I was feeling down or something but I don't think I've used gaming to distract myself in that way before. If there was a game that got me through tough times...then it was usually just whatever I was playing at the moment. If I had to pick a game that might relax me though, I guess I'd probably say Civilization 6. That's more because it's like, my favorite game though.
I always did wonder if this was a successor to that old Metal Saga game on the PS2. That one was very budget even for that system, so it's cool to see they kept that spirit alive...I think.
@Phostachio From my perspective, both sides are whining incessantly. I just want to watch some good TV again. Resident Evil, don't do what Halo did. That's all I'm gonna say.
I have no faith in any of these kinds of shows anymore. Picard, Halo...all just garbage heaps. Everyone is battling over political messages and representation and stuff but I think that should all come secondary to making sure the show is actually, y'know, watchable.
Sometimes the random world creation elements can lead to some interesting story telling if you wish to flex your brain a little. Sure most would say that a village generated incorrectly and half of it spawned on top of a cliff...or you could say that the overseers that live on the upper half of town force those on the bottom to mine precious resources in dangerous conditions while they reap the rewards. Abandoned mineshafts that almost always have a poison spider spawner? The unfortunate workers dug too deep and disturbed an old nest and were forced to abandon the site.
Anything can become a story if you take the time to think about it...and Minecraft is one of the best games to do just that.
Comments were pretty civil in this one, for once. Let people play what they wanna play, I always say. I don't judge people for playing their gorefest shooters, so just let people play their booba games.
Another one here that likes the mother series and yet has never played 3. I just don't tend to like fan translations that much because they are often too literal with translations, which ironically makes the dialogue worse. I love translators and their hard work but I'd prefer something official, thanks.
ZHP is definitely the highlight here. Plenty of games have come out since (with the original guided fate paradox closely matching it) but there's just something about the unlosing ranger that really sticks with you. Great game and good to see it finally back.
@NintendoHistory Gone from Nintendo but he's a major figure of the company. I'm sure if Miyamoto left/retired we'd still want to hear things from/about him.
Unfortunately it looks like there was no bystander video of the scene so It seems like we'll never know what really happened. I mean the officers have body cameras and dash cams but they're always forget to turn them on at times like this! 😮
This happened 4 days ago and still barely information. The thieves were in their late teens btw. Police refuse to say which officers fired as well. I'm not anti police or anything but transparency is paramount when it comes to the police. They aren't some covert military force that should cover up their actions, everything needs to be presented when it happens.
Earthbound is a game I have started multiple times and have just never seen through. I don't know why, I like the characters well enough. The dialogue is fun...but something always stops me from playing through the entirety of it. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it this time but maybe I'll give it another shot.
I like this game and I enjoyed playing it...until I started getting frustrated with my lack of progression. I'm not the best when it comes to card games, devising good decks eludes me. So every time that I played and died at nearly the same part, it began to kill my enthusiasm for the game more and more. I tried the three characters out, I think I enjoyed the ironclad the most due to being relatively simple but no matter how hard I tried to think up deck combos, proper synergies, I just couldn't Slay The Spire. Games like this, Hearthstone, Yugioh, Gwent... anything that involves strategic use of cards I just fail at horribly.
You guys are all wondering why your favorite obscure indie didn't get a review? You're looking right at it. People can't help but get all moany whenever the scary Booba games get talked about, resulting in free clicks for NL. A lot more free clicks your good but obscure indie review would get. Stop engaging in these articles if you don't want NL to keep talking about them. Naturally they'll tell you this isn't the reason...but why would NL want to ruin something as easy as this. People that like the big boobs will check it out. People that hate it will check it out. It'll naturally generate more attention than an article about a generic robot with gun or something like that. To argue otherwise...is just incorrect.
Oh and I'm not even defending this game. Even as fan service it's not even good. You'd get more out of a Fortnite skin.
Edit: I just looked back at the last 3 mini reviews and this one easily got triple the comments, triple the engagement than Demon Turf. Demon Turf is excellent! Go check that out instead of giving this unnecessary attention!
Fully expected! You get what you don't pay for!! They will slowly continue to make the pass more and more appealing...but only bit by bit to let people get used to each annoyance before introducing the next. It's literally a psychological trap. They introduce this new thing and the hardcore fans rationalize it as "at least it's cosmetics!" And then they toss in a single p2w element "It's not necessary to win games!" And then a bit more until you're missing out on entire features if you aren't subscribed to the service.
Oh and I'm not exaggerating. The example scenario is based on what happened with Fire Emblem heroes and its FEH pass. It WILL get worse.
If I got a copy of a Nintendo game early I wouldn't brag about it online. In fact, I would probably take my switch offline too. The "Nintendo Ninjas" are not to be messed with.
It still amazes me to this day the level of detail in snake eater. There are hours upon hours of codec calls and if you really dive into them you can get into some funny stuff. Try using the codec to call para medic whenever you eat something for example, she'll give you information about what you just ate and can often lead to some pretty funny exchanges. That's the attention to detail that really impresses me with video games.
@icomma mount your friends exists, complete with flop physics and is surprisingly not an adult rated game and there was no backlash when it came out so it seems it'd be perfectly fine if games included exactly what you mention. In fact I'd say that's something that's always been missing with duke nukem. With how many genital jokes he makes you'd half expect him to beat someone with it.
And here I was hoping I'd be able to decapitate people, stabbing them in the gut and watching their intestines spill out like a normal sane person. Japan is just appealing to Japan. The games we like they see US as the weirdos for loving our murder porn, since they censor excessive violence and gore over there. Yet the way people talk about violent games in the west "yes more blood! Look at them get chopped in half!! Do the finisher where you impale someone with a pitchfork!" is personally more disgusting than seeing some breasts or butt on a screen. The double standards need to stop.
I mean, people who want BOTW2 want to play an open world action/adventure game, I'm not sure how well served they will be with a slow paced strategic RPG. Unless we're implying that people will buy and play any Nintendo game because Nintendo.
Considering that Kirby is a relatively short experience it doesn't surprise me that the game doesn't have legs. Appropriate since Kirby doesn't really have them either.

@Axecon yep and they'll tell you "Why would anyone play these OLD games. They look so <future word for trash>."
Blinks and starts playing a F2P advertisement experience directly in their retinas, the pinnacle of future gaming

Whoever is in charge of putting games on the service really likes caveman games.
