Re: Bandai Namco Asks Digimon Survive Players To Not Spoil The Story For Others

There was a YouTube channel that used to post the final bosses for every major release within a couple days of the game's release complete with community post screenshots that you couldn't avoid seeing. I unsubscribed and this is also the reason I stay away from Twitter fandoms for these games, so I will give praise for them trying to curb people spoiling things, even if it might be ineffective.

Re: Watch: Is Five Years Between Splatoon Games Too Short A Wait?

ATaco

Maybe a few years ago I'd agree but longevity of a game seems to be everyone's focus now. If each iteration only seems a few new weapons and a few modes then I'd say no. That doesn't warrant a new game. Just tack it onto the game that is already there. Like how Warzone and Fortnite do it. I don't play those games but I will say that that solution is probably better than making a new game every couple of years where it feels like you need to "start over" with content when the basic idea of the game is still the same. In other words, unless there are some wildly new mechanics that would warrant the change and couldn't be added to what's already there, yes, five years is probably too short a wait.

Mario Kart Wii is probably the most mechanically sound game. Horribly unbalanced but if you play the meta then you're in for a treat. The unparalleled modding support is another feather in its cap.

@RubyCarbuncle Wasn't really trying to change your mind but alright, just saying that Nintendo has been pretty arrogant lately just like Sony. It happens when any big company starts raking in cash. Google, Twitch, Netflix...once the money starts flowing then customer service starts tanking. I'm not here trying to say any of them are worse than the other, just that once they're making tons of money customer satisfaction seems to become secondary until they piss off the fanbase enough that they're back to being "for the gamers."

@RubyCarbuncle Funny because I feel the exact same way about the arrogance thing from Nintendo. No company seems to try very hard when they're coasting off success it seems. Nintendo tried really hard after the WiiU didn't do nearly as well as they hoped but after enjoying the success that they have with the switch they seem to be resting on their laurels. Same for Sony coming off their incredibly successful PS4 era. The only ones that really seem to be trying is Microsoft after they never fully recovered after the launch of the XboxOne. Love em or hate em they're kinda killing it with Gamepass and their acquisitions (which are honestly ultimately unhealthy for the games industry).

Tldr I guess, Success breeds arrogance. Companies need to suffer failure to be kept humble.
