Hopefully this is testing the waters for potential remasters or even a new game. Would love to see the original GBC version of the first game on NSO as well, if it was basically already finished - in a similar way to the release of Star Fox 2.

It's a shame it's not a collection of all the games, but still game preservation of lesser known titles like this is still great .

If Mistwalker itself won't do it, I'd love him to hire another team to do a port of The Last Story at least.

I was completely down until I saw the word 'Aspyr'.

@Darthroseman For the price I definitely wouldn't recommend. I played again after the first update and it was still an awful port, so do with that what you will.

This review seems a little harsh to me. The game is meant to be about relaxing. The first game even let you input your own music, so I think this is definitely made to be a podcast, or youtube-in-background game where you can just vibe out.
Game seems like it's exactly what it says on the tin and I think maybe the reviewer expected something different without any disrespect to them.
I'm still looking forward to getting this at some point.

It's good they're trying to fix it but it's too late - all the servers are completely empty and will probably remain that way. Can't believe I trusted Aspyr after the Kotor 2 situation. Spent 30 quid, but at least I'll never buy from them again.

I'd prefer New Vegas on Switch but I'd take 3 too.

I bought these games hoping Aspyr had returned to form after their Tomb Raider remasters. But found myself very disappointed - the multiplayer is borked, the default control schemes were designed by an ape, and the 32gb install is a joke for such old games. Never buying from Aspyr again. Would have refunded immediately if I could.

Hopefully they offer some free games to offset this awful remaster like they did with Kotor II, although I doubt it.

@Yomerodes I see your arguments, Konami did amazing stuff with the PS2 hardware. But this collection only runs at 1080p 60fps on the PS5, compared to 720p 60fps on PS3. I think it's just a pretty lazy port in all honesty across all platforms. They could have got it to run better on Switch with a little effort, as they could have upscaled it to 4k on PS5. These games are from the PS2 era - they should run at 60 on anything, even if that meant a performance mode. Just my opinion though - respect yours. Hoping they do a next-gen update for Switch 2, although I don't think they will.

EDIT: Just looked it up and according to Eurogamer they only run at 720p on every console as well :/.

Not interested if it's still locked to 30. The old collection could do 60, and that was on PS3 - and Switch is more powerful than that console.
I know people will argue it's not but Witcher 3 wouldn't run on PS3.

@Mr_Monochrome have you tried Fast Racing on Switch? That's a great F-Zero-like .

Will have another look at this in a couple months, after a few patches have hopefully been released.

Gonna try and beat Earthbound Beginnings if I have time. I'm on my second time up Mt.Itoi and believe after that I have to go away and come back one more time. Really hope this game gets a remake at some point as it is so close to being one of the best rpgs of the era, but is slightly let down by a few small pacing and other problems that they could fix.

Still having fun despite all that and with a walkthrough, I'd definitely recommend it to any fans of classic rpgs.

I'm super happy they have taken the feedback from S and V, and decided on a longer development time to make the game as polished as it can be. Also, the presumed idea of you building up the city the way you want sounds like an amazing gameplay loop.
All that being said, I do think Red and Blue on NSO would have been the perfect thing to tide us over and create hype for the Direct.

This would be an awesome idea for the next DKC game.

So does the game translate the in-game text on the overlay? Or is most of it just in completely untranslated Japanese? Am interested either way as this is great for preservation.

Really hoping this means we get the Donkey Kong Land games, and DK64 on NSO soon.

I would honestly love to get one of these if I can afford it someday. I do really hope that Nintendo makes a little NSO app for the games that are on the system also, as I think it would be an awesome little curio to have them drop all 20 VB games at once for the service .

Hoping this comes to NSO at some point. I genuinely think that OG Red and Blue will be added this year.

Really great list. I think they will add the mainline Pokemon games to NSO however, as they did it with VC on 3DS and the VC runner on there had save states built in too.
As for games not on here, I'd love some really out of left-field ones, like Silent Hill: Play Novel, GBA Banjo-Kazooie, and the Crash and Spyro GBA games. Also, can't believe Four Swords wasn't on the list.

This is great news - so glad they're still supporting this game. Hopefully we can get tracks from the GBA games too at some point, maybe even some completely new ones!

I love that you included Animal Forest N64 - like you say, even if it's just on the Japanese app, I would still adore to play it that way. I also echo what someone else said in that I'd love to get 64DD games at some point - the OG Doshin the Giant would be so interesting to play.
I do think it would be amazing in the distant future as well, if we could get the playable demos of games that never released, on NSO - Earthbound 64 I believe was once playable at an event, and it would be so cool to see things like that for the first time .

I downloaded Palia just to try and am now absolutely addicted. Unlike other farming sims this one is actually relaxing to me as they've changed how plants work and how the stamina bar functions, so you don't feel like you have to constantly min/max, but also feel rewarded for doing so if you want. Hope more farm sims employ similar systems .
Also gonna play more Super Mario RPG when I get time as it is amazing.

I've got so much to still play on my Switch from previous years. But I'm gonna predict another one or two NSO apps - thinking Virtual Boy, Sega Master System, Game Gear or Saturn.
Virtual Boy would be a fun one as they could release most of the games for that system in the first drop easily .

Other than a great release line-up, and the continuation of the hybrid console idea, I want them to call it the Switch 2 (sounds silly to say I want this but genuinely hope they just call it this, got so used to saying Switch), and I need backwards compatibility, both digitally and physically. Also, want analogue triggers and the continuation of all the NSO apps onto the new console.

Great news! Hopefully they change their minds and add more tracks, from the GBA games.

Would be cool if they eventually add the missing content from earlier versions of the games. Even though it wouldn't be ideal, I'd even pay under 8 quid to get the missing dungeons and After Years as DLC.

I don't rate Gearbox as a developer but this is still worrying for other companies owned by Embracer group.

Still really hoping we get Persona 1 and 2 on Switch. Maybe some translations of the OG SMT games too.

Nintendo should get Shin'en to make a new F Zero game on the Switch 2 - their Fast series shows how they can do the concept really well, and with a bigger budget behind them I wouldn't be surprised if they could make one of the best racers ever.

Would be great to see this series come back, perhaps on the Switch 2. HD graphics and online multiplayer would add so much.

Will probably wait for a sale on this - even if this game isn't amazing, I'm still glad developers are preserving their old games on Switch.

I wish they'd add Twin Snakes to this collection or even Vol 2 - I know Kojima doesn't like that game very much but it should still be preserved.

Finally gone back to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 after beating Tears of the Kingdom - and damn this game just gets better and better. Just bought the season pass and that adds even more amazing quests, and things to do.

I'm hoping that it's Samus Returns HD or Metroid 6. Hope Nintendo does a lot more with Mercury Steam in the future tbf.

Thought I had played this one, but on reading the review realised I was thinking of Sacred Stones. Am now very excited to play this game for the first time .

Loved this article - really reminded me of Official Nintendo Magazine and the way their writings used to relax me. Also I need to give Stardew another go - I always get about 30 hours in then stop.

Never played any of these games but always wanted to, and couldn't find anywhere to play them legit, so this would be awesome. It'd be great if it lead to some of the older games coming to nso as well.

No one deserves a rest more than him. Personally, I'd love to see him go back to the Kirby and or Kid Icarus series in a few years. Uprising is one of my fave games on the 3DS and I'd love to see more in the future.
