Re: Talking Point: What Do You Make Of The Three Big Pokémon Games Coming To Nintendo Switch?

Quest:
Not interested at all.

Go Pikachu/Evee:
I like the look of them and how experimental they seem to be. I wanted them to try more things out with the franchise, so I am all for these games. I'm intrigued, will wait for reviews.

2019
No feelings, really. I'm just glad they informed us that they are separate titles. Personally, I want the franchise to take a bigger leap both visually and in terms of gameplay than just upgrading the Sun/Moon engine to HD, so I guess that will be what will determines my excitement, we'll see what happens in 2019.

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Will Get A Retail Release (But It'll Cost You $60)

Considering this is a straight up re-release with very little added content this is a ridiculous pricepoint.

I even though Mario Kart 8: Deluxe was a bit much at $60, and that game added a LOT more content than this does.

I will not be buying this. In my opinion they should have re-made the first game as well and re-released both in this package. But even then $60 sound like a lot for two old games.

Re: Soapbox: My Nintendo's Updated Rewards Scheme Is Anything But Rewarding

I'm sure MyNintendo is worse than Club Nintendo, but it's also available to everyone, unlike Club Nintendo was.

For someone who never got the privilege to be part of Club Nintendo, which was only available in 8 countries in Europe at the time, I'm very happy they have created a more inclusive system that gives all users the same experience.

Re: Metacritic Ranks Nintendo Second In Its 2017 Game Publisher Rankings

@BAN @Neon_Blues
Well.. Yeah. That's more consumer friendly. if you give someone a score from a trusted publication and a score from a unknown publication, who would you personally choose? As with both Metacritic and IMBd, the general consumer will also put more weight to the trusted publications, so the scores they calculate should be even better representations of the consumer consensus than when using a standard average - not worse.

Not to mention, a weighting scheme will also minimise the risk of a smaller publication up-voting or down-voting a game based on pure fanboy-feelings (I mean, just look at the user score for most games...). Technically, I can make my own publication and start giving out perfect 10:s to every Nintendo game. If they didn't use weighting a scheme, my scores would destroy the representativeness of their averages - which would be a bad system to use.

Finally, while I agree that not showing the weighting method is poor practice, it might be the case that if they reveal exactly how they weight their scores it can be abused mathematically by those who provide them and result in bias.

Re: Nintendo On How It Views Indie and AAA Games

19Robb92

Well, I like that they don't differentiate between them on the eShop. It's always cool to see an indie-game alongside some high budget AAA game.

But I hope they don't start slacking off with this mentality. Indie-games, to me, are not system sellers but rather a really nice complement to the overall library. Nintendo still need to push hard for devs to keep releasing games like DOOM, Skyrim and Dark Souls.

Re: Rumour: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Might Be Spinning Its Way Onto Switch

@bone
Sony or Naughty Dog does not own the rights to the games anymore. All the assets and music is re-made in the trilogy and is therefore fully owned by Activision. So they can port this to any platform without Sony being able to say anything about it, just like Microsoft can port Banjo Kazooie to any platform they want without Nintendo being able to do anything. You can see the copyright claims for the game in the Playstation Store, neither Sony nor Naughty Dog are included meaning it's fully owned by Activision.
