Of course, I'll follow all three companies. This year though I'm gonna focus on Nintendo and Sony. Nintendo cuz... well, Nintendo and Sony because I now have a PS4 and will be looking onto them for interesting Sony exclusives. At least at this point it's looking better than it was last year. Hopefully my hopes aren't let down.
Oh wow. The size of that battery, though. Maybe that's why it's not able to be replaced by the user. There's probably no way to design the Switch hardware in such a way that it also creates space for a battery slot that can be accessed. That's what I think, anyway. But yeah, insides of video game consoles are always interesting to see.
@MarcelRguez My exact thoughts. I mean, wow. With those sound effects it's almost as if it's not even a Nintendo console. The fact that I'm even thinking this is kinda amazing.
@BinaryFragger "Nintendo is getting praised for doing things that other companies got criticized for doing." Are they, though? For goodness sake, there's already a lot of negativity here. Jeez....
Well, more Zelda is nice, but Nintendo, no. Just no. Season passes are just as nonsense as paying for online access. But hey, I guess the market has chosen. So.... uh, more Zelda, I guess!
But at the end of the day I'll still have to pay $60+ across PS and Nintendo's services to get rid of a paywall that shouldn't even be there in the first place. Well, at least Nintendo's offer is looking to be cheaper than the competition, so that's good news... I guess.
Digital or whatever, I'm gonna be getting Yooka-Kaylee for Switch. If things don't go according to plan I may just get the game on the PS4. Either way, really hyped for this game.
I wanted to vote "Excited, but keeping my expectations in check," but I can't lie to myself. I'm really, really hyped because for some reason all I want to see is that 3D Mario game. I just picked up a PS4 but if the 3D Mario game blows me away and the line-up is impressive (oh, and if the price is generous), then I might just pick up the Switch in or around March. Hard to believe the Switch will be coming out in 2 months time, too. This truly is a time to get hyped.
I wonder what this means about the announcement of third party games.... It'll actually be a bit surprising if Nintendo somehow tied a lot of third party information into this presentation. Either way, HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE!
I love the 3D and always used it myself. I always loved how the visuals of the game would look like they're going inside beyond the speakers as if you could see your fingers in the screen when you placed them behind the top screen, and how sometimes objects would pop out of the screen like you could actually touch them. I never got tired of 3D as it always amazed me.
It's a shame the 3D is being put in the backseat now. Especially now that I got a New 3DS with super-stable 3D I'm really gonna miss a 3D feature to play with along the Switch. Ah well.
EDIT: Oh right, I didn't use the 3D all the time. I switch the 3D off when I'm playing the 3DS in the bus (one of the reasons why I never play my 3DS or even any handheld in the bus or on the go) or when it's bright and I don't have control over the lightning. Other than that, the 3D slider will be up.
Where was this deal during the Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Green something-something craziness? Jeez, Nintendo. Anyway, $200 should be the base price for the Wii U at this point. The Switch's price will most likely be higher than $200.
@DanteSolablood "Can't wait for some more doom-mongers to try and say this looks like something the Wii U could do." Wow. That's a new and interesting development to me. But expected anyway.
Heh. This comes at the time when I think Nintendo should send demo Switch units to its fans (through My Nintendo, of course) by surprise. It'll be really cool if they did that (even if I didn't receive one), but the odds are slimmer than the new HP Spectre laptop. Also, I'm not even going to bother with this since there's a 100% chance this event isn't heading to where I live. I hope the people who are lucky enough have fun, though!
@Nicolai I get the benefits that come from the Switch version of the game, but what if the game still runs a bit wonky on the Switch? It's almost as if a lot of people are setting themselves for disappointment, I think. That said, I really shouldn't have used such language (I apologize). I don't want to be the one to tell others how to spend their money.
@Nicolai For shame, the 51% percent of voters who said they would get the game for the Nintendo Switch, even though we don't know anyting about how the game will work on that system, or how it would even run. In fact, I think that 51% is a flash effect of the apparent frame rate hiccups in the Wii U version. Talk about being optimistic for the future, eh? :/
I really didn't notice any frame rate dips, to be honest. I'm gonna watch the video again but... I have a feelong everyone has blown this out of proportion. Especially since the Game Awards as a whole was choppy and jumpy. Or maybe I was just too excited to notice any dips.
@PlywoodStick I have something to say. Ahem. THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH. Using the website that you gave me, I was able to preorder a Black New 3DS when it became available to at my local Walmart (just a few minutes ago!) Granted, my order doesn't seem to be granted at the very moment, but at least I know I have preordered my system. I could say more, but now I'm tired. Maybe in the morning I'll say more. Maybe. But in all seriousness, though... thanks so much for that link! YOU SAVED MY CHRISTMAS.
@PlywoodStick Awesome. This feels weird to say this (cuz, ya know, Nintendo), but congrats on grabbing a New 3DS. I'm going to try heading to my GameStop tomorrow morning and see whether they have some in stock, but I'm really not counting on it. And I'm starting to lose hope on continuously refreshing pages every minute. I think I'm not going to get one eventually. Which is quite disappointing. Anyways, again, nice work on snagging a N3DS. Have fun!
@JaxonH Were you able to get one yourself? This was one thing I was looking forward to alongside a new PS4 and now it looks like I may not have the New 3DS for Christmas (which sucks, because I already brought a screen protector for it and I'm not willing to spend more than $100 for one). I hope for @PlywoodStick's hope that he gets one for all his camping troubles. @Mc1111 Does that nean that somrunits will became unavailable soon?
So scaplers in Amazon have already started selling the $99 3DS for $150+. Meanwhile I was easily able to pick up a PS4 easily. Not to mention the 3DS seems to be out of stock everywhere. Sigh. Nintendo really needs to fix their stock issues.
@Peach64 Or maybe posters now praising the game because it has come to their platform of choice. Anyway, I'll have to finish the Wii U version first before I double dip (maybe on PC or Switch). Good to know it's finally getting a bigger audience as it's a very good game.
I've been doing a lot of thinking about it and I gues it's totally okay if the price tag means I can access absolutely everything in the game without paying for silly microtransactions and stuff. Because a lot of money has been spent on mivrotransactions... so why not just offer a bill that covers everything? It'll be interesting to see how this game performs.
That orange + black 3DS is so.... erm, beautiful. I don't even know whether the 1080p 60fps video quality makes those systems look even more sleek and beautiful.
@Dezzy You're so right it hurts. You know something's wrong when we have to pick between the two most disliked candidates in history. I'd say more, but I'll just keep quiet due to NLife's "no political talk" policy.
@ThomasBW84 Do you know where this 3DS is going to be sold at? Seems like a glaring omission not to include that (it's not just you guys, though... other news outlets just report the price of $99.99 and seemingly no store to buy it from).
I mean, it WAS likely that Nintendo would move back to single screen gaming at some point (or triple screens, huh? Guys?)... just didn't think it was now. I've loved every one of Nintendo's efforts at dual-screen gaming, so yeah I'll miss it... but the Switch is looking pretty decent so I guess I'll get used to it.... (I'm already used to it because I play games on other consoles but I'll have to get used to it on the Nintendo side of things. )
@SKTTR I think Nintendo is going to allow GamePad support for dual screen action. Or they'll release some sort of controller for the Switch that has a screen.... but really, that option sounds unlikely at this point. But yeah, I do agree Nintendo can't abandon dual screen gaming yet. What would that mean for our DS VC purchases, for example?
Wow. If these poll are anything to go by, then Nintendo might have just struck gold. Now all Nintnedo needs to do is market the thing like crazy and.... dare I say it? We might have another Wii on our hands. Well, in terms of sales, obviously.
@shani I don't think we can call it Double Dash DLC just yet... it's only Double Dash DLC if we get to race with two racers on a kart each. I do approve of the two-item-for-one-kart mechanic, though. I would be flipping out right now if we got DD DLC so... yeah.
