Re: Nintendo Steps Up Its 3DS Marketing for Young Gamers

@JaxonH Uh, there was also the Strar Fox Zero puppet advertisements as well as the recent Nintendo UK Kirby: Planet Robobot advertisements. Those ones were really good; even better than the two ads above. And let's not forget those Smash Bros. ads (even though they were shown nearly two years ago lol). At this rate ice is seeping onto the Earth.
Now if Nintendo aired these ads on TV, hell would freeze so fast it would basically nuke the Earth.

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

veeflames

@Vandy "But am I claiming it's a terrible game and no one should like it and here's where they went wrong and they should have done this and blah blah blah and Miyamoto doesn't know what he's doing and it's a betrayal of RPGs and whatever?"
Exactly! It's okay to criticize a game or a person. Constructive criticism does exist, after all. I don't like a particular game because of this or that. OKAY. WE GET IT. But coming into every god-forsaken comment section and complaining about the same thing over and over and over again and sparking left-and-right arguments isn't constructive criticism. Heck, it isn't even destructive criticism. It's just plain annoying.
What I do is that I underscore my own beefs about a certain game or person I do not like or agree with and let it be. I don't have time to hang around the internet, waiting in camouflage to ambush the next person who says something I don't agree with (You're a great user to me Vandy, but I think you might be guilty of this too ).

@Yorumi "I have said time and time again ... play starfox just fine ... "
Now I'm not trying to add fuel to any fire here, and I will admit right now that I haven't gone into every comment section you've commented in, so can you provide the particular comment (or comments, since you've said "time and time" again) that confirms the statement in bold fonts? Or are you talking about a Star Fox game aside from SFZ?

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

veeflames

@Vandy I agree completely (well not completely... I adore XCX a lot 😆). The thing is that even if you've played Xenoblade Chronicles, you still have to sit down and figure out what you're doing in Xenoblade Chronicles X. The abundance of massive HUDs and menus (as well as the surprisingly tiny text) doesn't help things. Sometimes I watch my brother play the game - running around in the huge worlds and utlizing the menus - and I'm always thinking, "OK, what is he doing right now?" Don't get me wrong, I love the game but if someone says SFZ is more complicated than a game like XCX or even a game like Uncharted in any way... I'm sorry, but I think that's just out of dislike for SFZ. SFZ might as well be the simplest major game for the Wii U (quite literally, in fact).

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

veeflames

@Oscarsome "What happened to simple and straightforward design?"
In all seriousness, recent games (such as XCX) are complicated as hell when it comes to its HUD design side stories and all that jazz... Double hell, it might take months to get used to everything; and yet, it's still seen as one of the best games on Wii U. In all fairness, Star Fox Zero isn't even complicated at all. It's obvious: simple story, simple on-rails gaming, simple everything. Yeah, the controls can be a bit of a hassle admittedly, but once they click it's really nothing. SFZ isn't Miyamoto's best game in a long shot, but it's far from a failure as some seem to project.

Re: Anniversary: New Super Mario Bros. is Now a Decade Old

veeflames

@peeks SM64DS is pretty fantastic but I never played it as much as NSMB. For me, NSMB was hard for me to drop down. In fact, NSMB was the only thing I would play for a very long time. It's that good.
Can I also mention that SM64DS's multiplayer pales in comparison to NSMB?

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

veeflames

Yeah, I'll be excited when I see the trailer for the movie(s), not now. Still, please do a Smash Bros. animated movie. I don't care what's happening; I'll drop everything and watch it the day it comes out lol.
I think a Metroid live action could work, but seeing as anything live action is panned these days, I wouldn't want "rubbish" reviews for a Metroid film.
@Sparx This.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Shakes Up E3 With No NX and a Focus on Legend of Zelda

veeflames

@ThomasBW84 I understand your pointa, but are you insinuating that Nintendo's going to be like "Welp, for E3 you'll only be playing Zelda. Enjoy?" at E3? That's just wrong. Yeah, I don't agree with the number of playable games (and yes, it's close to insane), but who's to say Nintendo isn't going to show more stuff at E3? Nonplayable stuff, but still?
To be honest, I'm not going to complain much because I was never going to E3 in the first place...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

Nearly 400 comments on a freakin' review. Nearly 400 comments of pointless left-and-right bickering. For what? A freakin' score.
I really am done with these articles. Ridiculous nonsense.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

@VanillaLake I get that, but he misrepresented the information from DF. The analysis video shows that SFZ frame rates drop to a minimum of 40 or so, not as low as 20 to 25. So I don't know where that came from...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

@Yorumi "I said it drops as much as much as 20 to 25 fps"
When? Where did you get this? And because you said it doesn't make it true, hence there's LITERALLY no point in saying "That would mean it drops from 60 to 35 to 40 fps." In fact, doesn't that statement help what Vandy and I said earlier? What is the point?!

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

@Yorumi No, the frame rate dropped to a minimum of 40 FPS in the analysis video you're talking about. Regardless, the game does a good job of replicating two screens at 60FPS.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

@Clownshoes You gotta be kidding me. And if Damien gave this game a 4 you'll be saying the opposite of comment #38, right?
Anyway, I think it's clear the comment section is in a frenzy...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

veeflames

@VanillaLake And when did I say that Metacritic was it's own score and not the average of the scores of other games? And yeah, you are free to read other reviews. Did I restrict anyone?
With the people posting about Metacritic here it's like they're saying "Well Nlife, you gave it an 8 but the average score is about 6-7... so maybe the game is a tad worse than you're saying it is Oh, I don't know.

Re: Poll: The Wii U GamePad - Where Do You Stand on Nintendo's Hefty Controller?

veeflames

I wouldn't say Splatoon has the best GamePad usage, but I will say that without the screen (and to a degree motion controls), Splatoon is pretty much useless. That's one of the reasons why I think the NX home console will have a screen on its controller. We want this franchise to continue, right?
Oh, and Lego City Undercover also has some pretty great GamePad usage! One of the best on the Wii U.

Re: Poll: The Wii U GamePad - Where Do You Stand on Nintendo's Hefty Controller?

veeflames

If the GamePad had analogue triggers it could have been my best controller of all time. I'm not even kidding.
I love the GamePad; I'm not just a fan, I'm probably its biggest fan. It's really comfortable (it was way larger than I thought when I first held it in my hands, though) and it's a small but great help in many games such as Splatoon and Wind Waker HD. The GamePad is the ultimate tool for do-it-yourself games such as Mario Maker. Off-TV play is also a great feature; in fact, I only play Smash Bros on the GamePad. Sure the game looks great on TV but I'm not a graphics guy at all and I don't mind looking at a low-res screen at all. And no, the GamePad is not heavy. I can see why people might think it's bulky, but it's NOT heavy.
The GamePad IS underutilized, though. I wish it was used more in games because it has so much potential. I'm sure the NX home console will have a screen on its controller (a smaller one). I'll be so happy if that was the case!
