@amiiboacid Looks like the joke completely went over your head. I don't even if understand the point of your comment, much less anything about it. @Freeon-Leon made a joke about the Pokémon Sawk by using its name as a replacement for "see" in his statement. Then I responded to him by saying I'd give him a vanilla flavored ice cream cup. But instead of saying "vanilla," I said "Vanillite" as a reference to a Pokemon's name; much like what Freeon-Leon was trying to do. Honestly, I don't get the insult. Sheesh..
Yesiree! I thought it had a release date already, but oh well. Now I know we have a release date! @Freeon-Leon That's cute... here, have a Vanillite flavored ice cream cup!
@ThomasBW84 I just checked the listings you linked in the article, but I can't find anything about the new dungeon, or even about the hero mode or GamePad inventory management (used Google Chrome's translate function, just so you know) I know you're very reliable as a writer and as a source, so do you think Amazon France removed the information? Or you could direct me to where I can find the information. I thought it would be under Innovations, but there's only this: "A dark and exciting quest to dispel the darkness of the kingdom of Hyrule, renewed reworked HD graphics." Thanks!
@FRANKLIN_BADGE "... but just look what Nintendo is doing: this is an "HD" (it doesn't look like it) remaster which has 2 things unlocked by an ugly-looking toy, and we are expecting you to pay full price for it. Yeah, it sucks."
You really need to calm down. I get your point, but you're coming to premature conclusions here.
Eh, I think it should have been free from the start, anyway. Without using the amiibo to unlock anything. Not even as DLC. To be honest, I'm not sure whether a Wolf Link amiibo was even necessary. If it's not going to do something like this, it was probably going to do something else minor... which would make it useless. Add to the fact that Nintendo still has to do something about amiibo issues (applies to all amiibo that isn't Mario or Link), now there certainly is a dilemma here. If this is true (I really hope not and it's really false info), then I will be worried about Zelda U. But it's just a rumor, so I'm not going to go crazy. Nintendo will have to confirm this very soon (hopefully in a Direct). One more thing... even though the dungeon was available without the amiibo, some users will still complain a lot!
I'm being more optimistic than I should, really. Maybe because I'll get to play my most anticipated games of 2016 (Star Fox Zero and, to a lesser extent, Zelda U) and hopefully pick up a PS4 to play Gravity Rush. Add to the massive backlog I have, and yeah... my 2016's pretty much set. Add to the fact that Nintendo's usually full of surprises (which means we might be playing brilliant games that we never know until... soon in the future?) and somewhat bittersweet excitement of a new gaming device on the horizon.. yeah, I'm being very optimistic. Very optimistic.
@IceClimbers !!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, people will still complain. I'm talking about Zero Mission. It's nice that it's finally here, though!
@abbyhitter Well, I think other users have done the job of detailing the flaw in your comment, so I don't need to say anything much.
And those box arts are quite good, IMO. Though Midna looks off on the EU version... it almost looks like she was a last-minute edit to the box art. shrugs
How come I never knew about this awesome series? Even it it was cancelled for some years, I should have watched the series during the hiatus. Well, I'm just glad I got to discover it (thanks so much, Nintendo Life). And just at the right time, too! The first episode was mindblowing! I especially liked the random sound effects, such as the Tom & Jerry effect, and Toadsworth's "yeye yeye blah blah!"
@ThomasBW84 Please don't bother posting the review of that Bigley's Return nonsense, please. Have you seen the trailer for the game?! Why in heaven's name did Nintendo allow that sort of game to grace its console? Of course, I'm joking about the review thing, but you get my point....I didn't even finish watching the trailer for the game. So much pointlessness...
@aaronsullivan Oh, so he did mention the NX (must have missed that sentence), but I'd argue that strengthens my point about Kimishima talking the future, so he does have to talk about NX, especially to investors. When I didn't see the NX myself, I was kinda surprised... so thanks for clarifying that. And I should have made myself clearer regarding the 2016 camp. You definitely bring up good points (I still stand by my opinion, though), but believe me, there are some people out there (heck, even on this very site) who I'm starting to believe think they're in some war with the people of the 2017 camp and just want to start unnecessary arguments. I guess the tone of your comments just reminded me of that and I just decided to say my mind, so I apologize if looks like I'm accusing you of attacking and if there's any misunderstanding. One more thing, though...
"Would I be mentioning the new hardware in the statement and neglect to mention the strength of the current hardware now if I was planning on waiting until late 2017 to release it?" But then you're assuming it automatically means a home console is arriving this year (all speculation, but still). Besides, the fact that he didn't also mention the 3DS means... that it's still a home console? I don't know about that line of thought. But I'll still say it again, maybe it's weird that he didn't mention the 3DS and Wii U, but I'm not seeing the hard evidence that it's a home console. I'm more of the thought that the NX is a hybrid, with the new handheld system releasing this year, and the home console component releasing next year (I've already said something about this on this site). Nintendo's handhelds perform much better than their home console counterparts, and as you and I know, Nintendo's current business (well, mostly their home console business) is dwindling. Do you really think Nintendo has a better chance of springing back to usual business with a lone home console in the long run? I don't think so. Their handhelds are stronger. Let them out into the wild first, methinks. All just speculation, however. So yeah, maybe we will be playing the NX this year. But I believe it's what most people seem to think it is.
@Grumblevolcano @antdickens Nah, I don't think it's Skyward Sword HD or something. I really don't think Nintendo could reveal something like this this way. I'm guessing it's just an image error, or maybe it's done to better portray Link as a lefty. Besides, I just brought Skyward Sword for my brother as a Christmas gift... @IceClimbers Then they better do one in Phoenix.
@aaronsullivan In reply to your "serious question," it may be true that nothing of the Wii U/3DS was mentioned, but then the NX wasn't mentioned, too. In fact, Kimishima was merely commenting on what the future might hold for Nintendo. That includes the theme attractions, use and development of IP, and, yes, even amiibo. The only major (and mentioned) thing linking Nintendo's video game business is the My Nintendo account, which "which should work as a bridge between our dedicated video game platforms and other devices ..." (more evidence towards an hybrid, methinks). Of course, shareholders and whatnot always want to know where their money is going in the long run, so Nintendo is going to talk about the future. But then, he didn't say anything about the NX. Doesn't really mean anything about the Wii U/3DS unless we want to start assuming things, if you ask me. I'm also seeing myself in the "NX - 2017, hybrid" camp. I'm not really going into details as to why as I've mentioned it so many times, but I don't get why some people in the other camp (NX - 2016, home console, or something similar) just start to freak out when they hear a "NX is releasing in 2017" speculation/opinion. We're all Nintendo fans and we're excited to see what Nintendo has under their sleeves, so there's really no need to attack others based on opinion.
Disappointing that Paper Jam has only 5% of the votes. As of this comment that's just like 121 people who voted for the game. Oh well, no big deal, I guess....
@Hinaru77 The Biggest Wii U games of 2016. Pokemon Red/Yellow/Blue are all VC releases for the 3DS Fire Emblem Fates is also for the 3DS. We don't know much about the detective Pikachu game, much less whether it exists anymore. What main Pokémon game was shown !ast year? I don't remember such an event, unless you're talking about Pokken... If so, that's for the Wii U. We don't know much about Pikmin 4, either. We know it exists, but we don't know its target console yet.
Why are some doubting that this won't be on Wii U? If this does lead to a Sonic 25th anniversary game, then it'll probably come to a lot of consoles, including Wii U. And Nintendo and Sega have a great relationship, so.. yeah.
@JaxonH "I really do think NX is a hybrid of console and handheld, and that one will release this year in November and the other will release in 2017- either in spring or November. I think the handheld component will be able to sync up to the console component like the Wii U gamepad, allowing for dual screen mechanics in certain games. Which would all be optional of course, since not everyone will own both." Exactly. I'm not one to talk sales ever, but the fact is that sales of the 3DS (Wii U... well, you get the point) is dwindling. Maybe if Nintendo manages to release more exclusives for the N3DS, but I do see Nintendo releasing the handheld component of the NX (I too believe it's an hybrid) this year to start fresh again, with the home console component releasing 2017. The current systems will also get an overhaul so that Nintendo can truly create an ecosystem of consoles. Of course, NX is where it's all at (kinda sad, but I guess that's reality), but the Wii U and 3DS will still see some satisfying support. In all I pretty much agree with all that you said, but I'm not so sure about the seperate versions thing (a version for home component, and one for the handheld, if I'm understanding you correctly). Most people might look at it and think it's some sort of scam, especially it the games are at full retail price. What I think should happen is obvious: home console plays the full version of the game for you, while the handheld plays a lite version (kinda like Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS) of it. Exclusives to either system can happen, too. The only problem I see with that is the cost of the whole thing. Nintendo are usually known to make consoles at family value, so it'll be interesting (and yet very scary) to see where Nintendo goes next. Fingers crossed at E3 in advance...
@JaxonH Do you really think this is the last year for the Wii U? Because I'm thinking the NX is a hybrid and its handheld component will be released this year... along with a Wii U Lite or something.
But yeah, call me crazy, but I still think Nintendo has ways to go and still squeeze some money out of new customers. It's not like we pre-existing owners have very much to look forward too this year(at least, one or two games can take much of our time, so there's that), so... shrugs
EDIT: And let's not forget the surprise games that we'll get to play this year. Nintendo is really full of surprises.
Easily Star Fox Zero. I'm also very hyped for Zelda U, but there's not much info about the game to get me excited just yet. Maybe if we get a name and a trailer showing dungeons and such (which we should get this year).
To be honest, I just want to play great games this year, and nothing less. I'm so pumped for Star Fox Zero and Paper Jam, so at least I have some games to look forward to. Let's not forget Zelda U!
Happy New Year 2016 to the Nintendo Life staff and the great users that keep this website a pleasure to visit multiple times a day. Can't wait to see what this year holds for us.
Well, I think it's definitely safe to say that this wasn't Nintendo's best year, regardless of whether you think the year was good or not. The issues have already been addressed above: delays, an underwhelming E3, a couple of forgettable titles, but most important of all, the loss of Satoru Iwata. However you want to argue about Nintendo's future, here's hoping to a brighter 2016.
On a personal note, I enjoyed what this year had to offer. I got to play Splatoon which is just so amazing, create my stages (as well as play other stages) in Mario Maker, and finally get to play the fantastic Fast Racing Neo. I also got to play some titles I missed back then such as Shovel Knight, Code Name STEAM, Skyward Sword, and even Mother 3. There's even more than the mentioned titles for me to play and complete (well into 2016), so I can definitely say I did enjoy my gaming side of 2015. Can't wait for Star Fox Zero next year, though.
@Spin Well, we do know there's some similarities (and even relationships) between the two games. I'd like for Platinum Games (like you said, not sure Sakurai would want to do another Kid Icarus title, let alone a crossover title) to explore these possibilities... even if the game leans towards one series over the other. It seems Platinum Games loves to work on on-rail shooters. And Sakurai just so happened to revive Kid Icarus as an on-rails shooter (plus action-adventure, but you get the idea). So why not? Pit could handle the on-rails section while Bayonetta handles the on-ground (and any other) sections. @xMetrusx Well, that's why I said now that there's one more Umbra Witch maybe something interesting can happen between the Pit and Bayonetta. It's all just opinion, anyway...
Ever since Bayonetta was revealed as a Smash character, I realized that Kid Icarus X Bayonetta could actually be a thing. Think about it: both games fall under the same lore (demons and angels fighting and all that), and the main characters Bayonetta and Pit use weapons and hand-to-hand combat. In fact, if you listen closefully in Bayonetta's trailer you can hear Palutena telling Pit, "I thought [Umbra Witches] were extinct." I want to see a game based around that claim; for example, what are the events that led Palutena to believe Umbra Witches were extinct (and I sure hope it isn't knowledge from her know-it-all encyclopedias) or how the existence of Umbra Witches shakes things up for Skyworld. And, of course, Viridi and even the Arum forces.
Maybe Bayonetta 3 is actually Kid Icarus X Bayonetta. One can hope...
EDIT: To make my argument even more plausible, it very much looks like the relationship between Nintendo and Platinum Games has come to a point where such a relationship can easily prompt crossover titles. What better way to start than with Pit and Bayonetta? XD
@Aozz True that. I already have tons of games to play on my Wii U anyway, but it's just that this week seems extraordinarily barebones... Especially when Europe got SMRPG and 64DS this week. Oh well.
Not saying Galaxy is a game to be sniffed at, though. If you don't have the game, get it ASAP.
Well, I'm done for now. Currently 3rd with 88 points... I'm guessing I'll be dethroned by the end of the tournament, though.
Good games to everyone I played with. I guess I did enjoy playing with items later on...

Re: Rumour: Details of amiibo Features in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Emerge
Am I missing something here? The Ganondorf amiibo increases the amount of damage you take from enemies (which is really odd, IMO). I'm guessing there's a standard Hero Mode where everything is harder and what not, so the Ganondorf amiibo is just to up the difficulty of the easy mode. I'm not sure about the ruckus surrounding the amiibo.
But this is just a rumor, and as always; I'm gonna take it with a grain of salt. A Nintendo Direct, tho...

Exactly.
Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2016
@JaxonH Do you really think this is the last year for the Wii U? Because I'm thinking the NX is a hybrid and its handheld component will be released this year... along with a Wii U Lite or something.
But yeah, call me crazy, but I still think Nintendo has ways to go and still squeeze some money out of new customers. It's not like we pre-existing owners have very much to look forward too this year(at least, one or two games can take much of our time, so there's that), so... shrugs
EDIT: And let's not forget the surprise games that we'll get to play this year. Nintendo is really full of surprises.
Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2016
Easily Star Fox Zero.
I'm also very hyped for Zelda U, but there's not much info about the game to get me excited just yet. Maybe if we get a name and a trailer showing dungeons and such (which we should get this year).
Re: Feature: Five Key Reveals and Releases That Will Define Nintendo's 2016
To be honest, I just want to play great games this year, and nothing less. I'm so pumped for Star Fox Zero and Paper Jam, so at least I have some games to look forward to. Let's not forget Zelda U!
Re: Happy New Year from Nintendo Life
Happy New Year 2016 to the Nintendo Life staff and the great users that keep this website a pleasure to visit multiple times a day. Can't wait to see what this year holds for us.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's 2015?
Re: Yusuke Hashimoto Talks Star Fox Zero and Collaborating with Nintendo
Re: Yusuke Hashimoto Talks Star Fox Zero and Collaborating with Nintendo
XD
Re: Giveaway: Grab Yourself a Free Copy of Cube Life: Island Survival
Haha... why not.
Re: Pokkén Tournament Will Feature 2-Player Local Multiplayer
@NaturalGus Good question.
Maybe if it included more news... as in what other features would be in the game.
Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Staff Awards 2015
@JaxonH Call me crazy, but Splatoon is the best game on Wii U. No, seriously.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
@Aozz True that. I already have tons of games to play on my Wii U anyway, but it's just that this week seems extraordinarily barebones... Especially when Europe got SMRPG and 64DS this week. Oh well.
Not saying Galaxy is a game to be sniffed at, though. If you don't have the game, get it ASAP.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
Well, I could benhappy with Galaxy... except I already have it.
So yeah. Mehey.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
How... mehey. Oh well...
Re: Play: Get Into a Holiday Brawl With Nintendo Life in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Well, I'm done for now. Currently 3rd with 88 points... I'm guessing I'll be dethroned by the end of the tournament, though.
Good games to everyone I played with. I guess I did enjoy playing with items later on...
Re: Play: Get Into a Holiday Brawl With Nintendo Life in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
@Chaoz No one can escape my Dragoon fury. 😊
Re: Play: Get Into a Holiday Brawl With Nintendo Life in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
@Gridatttack Ditto.
Sigh... I'm not really enjoying this as well as I should, to be honest. Oh well...
