Re: Limited Run Games Is Releasing A DOOM Classics Collection For Nintendo Switch

vanYth

@Ghost_of_Hasashi yeah, I forgot about that earlier release.
Don‘t get me wrong, 30$ for the classic Doom games is OK, they are just not complete without Doom64.
But I still think the additions in the collector editions aren‘t worth the price. Just look at Bethesda‘s merch store what you could get for 50-100$ instead...

Edit: It seems, LRG has raised the price of the standard edition to 39,99$. So this means I am even not ok with the price for the games without additional stuff anymore. At least that merch is not an additional 50$ but „only“ 40$...

Re: A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism Is Scheduled To Arrive This Week On Switch

I really love train strategy games, but this one is not for me.
Tried the demo yesterday. It‘s far from beauty (which is not THAT big problem). Textures are very very low resoltution. So to ride the train is a nice gimmick in theory, but you wont use it more often because this hurts the eyes and destroys the immersion (while in Railroad Empire I like to ride the trains just for fun).
The zoom cannot go far away enough to have a good overview. It seems you cannot tell a train to go somewhere immediately or to stop, so if there is a mess, you have to take the train off the rails completely!?
But the biggest problem I had are the shadows, constantly flickering all over the screen because of the fast flowing time and moving sun. You can turn shadows off or freeze the sun, but that makes the not so pretty game not prettier... this is not just ugly, this is unbearable.

I had problems with A-Train for Amiga and I don‘t like A-Train for the Switch. Seems, this is not the right game series for me

@Bermanator of course they close the duplicates. You don‘t want multiple entries for the same bug, otherwise you would need to investigate the same bug twice, that then would probably already been fixed. You are free to comment the existing oldest bug report.

Maybe there are other (game breaking) bugs more important to be fixed first. Or older bugs. Or easier bugs. Or special schedules. So it is good, that you report errors, but relax.

@rjejr
„To me cheating means "gaining something for yourself that others don't have". So as long as you aren't stealing from others or "cheating" others, I don't see how you're cheating.“ #50

Stealing CAN also be cheating, but it is stealing.
Cheating is to subvert rules. And this is not necessarily giving yourself an advantage over others. Even in the 80s where nearly every game was single player, we called it a cheat to give you more lives, manipulate save games, deactivate a timer or similar things.
If the rule is to play in real time, then jumping in time is a cheat. But this is not necessarily a bad thing.
Cheating in competitive multiplayer games of course is really bad. The names I have for people doing this would get me banned here

But playing a game in an „easy mode“ the game offers by itself of course shouldn‘t be called cheating.

@UmbreonsPapa
1. I myself traveled in time backwards on the Wii version to get things I otherwise would have missed. But I know this was cheating.
2. the game tries to prevent time travel (rotten turnips, etc), it does not offer it!

Everyone should know by him/herself, if he/she uses time travel. It just makes rare and special items very generic unfortunately. Seeing islands full of original statues is just boring.
This was not my point. My point was calling other people fools by playing the game the way intended.
